Selena Roberts is a NARC!
A rant by Nico.

Selena Roberts is, for starters, a NARC. But the gravity of her flaws run even deeper than that.
By definition, a NARC is technically a narcotics agent (federal or otherwise), who busts people involved in criminal activity surrounding illicit drug use or distribution.
We, as normal people, take that term and apply it in a broader sense to anyone who turns on - or "rats out" - others, usually to save their own ass or protect some other shameful self-interest. These people themselves are usually involved in a drug-related crime. They were busted and rolled over on someone else to save their hide, whether it be in terms of a job, school or with law enforcement in general.
With that said, where does Selena Roberts fall into play? Some might argue she is just a journalist doing her job. But, in fact, writing a potentially libelous, unauthorized biography about someone else is not actually a job - at least not in the traditional sense of the word. To write a book implies much more self-interest. For instance, Sports Illustrated (the magazine for which Ms. Roberts is a pseudo- columnist), did not hire her to write a book about Alex Rodriguez. The book is a tangent to Ms. Roberts' career, a tangent that stands to make her a lot more money than Sports Illustrated pays her.
So why, then would Ms. Roberts write the book? Was it money? Or was it something more? Something much more, like a genuine concern for the game of baseball? Or a crusade to clean up America's national pastime? Or was it... a lot of money?
Because in all fairness to A-Rod, he has already been busted for steroids (did someone say double jeopardy?). In fact, he admitted to it. Even if he wasn't completely forthcoming (and who would be), why dig any deeper? Could it be because A-Rod must pay a dearer price simply due to his ability or level of prominence? That he must be destroyed and devastated with the likes of Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire and - yikes! – Pete Rose or Shoeless Joe Jackson?
Or, maybe it’s much more basic. Primordial even. Maybe, it’s about survival! Maybe Ms. Roberts wrote the book to survive. A fat paycheck would go a long way in that regard. But, no, it could not be about money. Could it?
OK. So we get it. People need to live, of course Ms. Roberts wrote the book for money. We know for damn sure she wouldn't do it for free.
So, by definition, Ms. Roberts is, actually a NARC. And that's in the literal sense and within the technical vernacular of the word.
Fact: She alleges that A-Rod used steroids in instances other than those he has admitted to - thereby 'busting' him (again).
Fact: She dropped a dime on an athlete - her usual subject matter – and tried mercilessly to bury the guy in anyway possible (tipping off pitches?! Come on…) But none of this was done to save her own ass... no, it was done to make her ass some money.
So what is worse? Personally, I'd be happier knowing a person turned on me to keep his or her ass out of prison, rather than stuff their pockets with cash.
So, actually, Ms. Roberts is worse than a NARC!
And taking into account the shoddy, manipulative "reporting" that Ms. Roberts threw into this book, she is also a disgrace to the profession. One has to wonder how she ever wrote for Sports Illustrated in the first place.
A book written with such obvious journalistic desperation only supports one theory: Not only is Ms. Roberts, in fact, worse than a NARC, but she is an embarrassment to her profession, to our national pastime and to our capitalistic society as whole.
Thank you, Selena Roberts, for pushing us to the brink. Hopefully we will all learn from your greed and selfishness and better the world for it.

Here in FL, a recent college student was murdered when she tried to play that game. Not only did they get her to rollover, but they further endangered her by using her as bait. From what I remember, her mother is now a major advocate for our cause. Fucking pigs!
Never did believe any of those hulks' claims that they weren't juicin, had many an arguement over McGwire. I for one am glad the truth is out. Now that's not to say that other people weren't juicin before testing became so prevalent, but now that they're making millions - people are watching more closely.
