My Life's Quest: To Write for High Times Part 1

Will I make it?

Fri, Jan 29, 2010 12:27 pm

I know what you're saying: hey moron, I'm reading this on HighTimes.com. Duly noted, but I'm talking about being an employee of High Times, writing full time.

I don't believe I'm talking out of turn when I admit I write these blogs for free (if you don't count the link to my blog at the bottom of each post). I badgered the fine folks at High Times to give me a shot on the blog, and in their infinite wisdom, they did. So I write blog posts and submit them for review and hopefully publishing to the site.

Trial run, audition, minor league tryouts, whatever you want to call it, I have a chance for the stuff I write to be noticed by the higher ups at High Times (see what I did there with the "higher" ups?...nevermind). An amazing opportunity for a pothead who's only real talent is writing.

But life is nothing without goals. And I like money, it's useful for many things. So what better way for a writer/pothead to make money than write for High Times? My only other real option is become a drug dealer, but the people I know are broke as hell...oh, and it's illegal.

I've had some crazy stuff go on the last 6 or 7 months, but the time is now, as they say. And I want you all to follow my quest to get to the Promised Land. Will I fail miserably? It's a good possibility. But life isn't only about goals, it's about living. I enjoy what I do, and will enjoy this quest.

Win or lose, at least I can say I went for what I wanted...to work at the greatest magazine in the world. (Note: always end a post like this with some ass-kissing).

Follow me closer at twitter.com/stonerjesus420 and look for part 2, coming soon.

keep going and don't let anything stop you.

what you're doing, even if it's "just writing" is incredibly important. without writers, i'd have nothing to read.
and on that note, without literature on marijuana available through the internet and more importantly High Times, i'd have spent the last few years a very bored and less educated stoner.

i'm also trying to be a writer, along with everything else.
keep writing and we'll keep reading. best of luck, and stay high.

while i was googling "how to be a writer for high times" your blog came up, so I started reading it, and you're good. I would also like to write for the magazine, and its motivating to hear that you were given the oppurtunity. best of luck, and if you fail, I hope to take your place ;)

There's a typo in the 4th paragraph... should say "than" instead of "then."
