SUNDAY NOV. 18
10 AM: Registration at the PowerZone.

12 PM Expo Bus Shuttle between Hotel Victoria (across the street from Central Station) and the PowerZone continues until Midnight. Expo busses are large 50-seaters. A Cannabis Cup poster in the window identifies these buses. Coffeeshop shuttles pick-up at the PowerZone and take judges to the participating shops. Expo bus only service the Expo. Both shuttles are for judges only.

8 PM Opening Ceremonies and announcement of the top three strains as selected by the VIP judges, PowerZone. Open to judges, sponsors and exhibitors only.

10 PM HonkyTonk HomeSlice, PowerZone.

apothecary travel brings up a good point about the Euro. I booked my trip late, when the dollar was around 1.43, but even in the couple weeks before i left it drops to 1.49. Just that little difference cost me an extra couple hundred American when all was said and done. I can imagine what a company like apothecary must go through if they book 200+ trips early in the year @ 1.35 and then have to settle up in the end at 1.49, after everyone had prepaid the trip at 1.35. It sounds complicated, but what it boils down to is that apothecary has to eat a few grand. And from what I hear, they still took great care of their clients. I met the owner of apothecary, and he was a pretty cool guy. I book trips on my own, but would recommend him to anyone.

This is in response to "don't go". High Times didn't pay us anything. We provided goodies and stuff to our travelers from our sponsors and from our company. Yes, it was a little expensive than in USA, but blame our gov't for the war and credit crisis for the weak dollar. Last year it was $1.36 to the euro; this year it was $1.48 to the euro. Makes a big difference if you are on a budget.

all these pass stories are a fantasy. do you really think arjan or derry could get 600 people they know to vote. each pass has a # and is assigned to the person who bought it. i doubt that even 600 dutch people attended. 600 passes is 120,000 dollars. and you know hagar is not giving them away. these guys are not blowing that kind of cash. want to make a change, no more top 3 strains. let all shops put there goods on the table and let the best one win.

It's even worse than you thought! Derry heard about 600 passes that where in the hands of Arjan.After he confronted Steve Hagger with it, Arjan didn't win one thing anymore. Why didn't Steve Hagger tell anything about it on stage? How is it possible that Arjan had 600 passes and what is HighTimes gonna do about it? Probably nothing, like every year. Yeah I was not impressed by this years Cup,

My friends and I arrived a day early for the cup and when we got to amensia about 11:30 on the 17th they were already out of guide books and most T shirt sizes They told us we could get them at the powerzone the following day however waiting for the HT shuttle was a fucking joke. Not only was it inconsistant but several times we were "kicked off" the HT Bus as the driver would not leave if there were people standing.........

Coffeeshops were great though :)

Also... anyway I could get a guide book mailed to me? lol
I like collecting them also helps with remindng me which strains I smoked from which shop

wow what a joke that whole expo was .. I drove about 7 hours from germany stayed four days loved the people coffee shops and city but i can honestly say I will never support high times again in any way how un organized that was the transportation really blew what a flipping joke. oh and the most apawling was the fact that the powerzone was compleatly trashed opening day I was turned away by some burned out looking hungover hippy working the door because they needed to clean up after a party the night before he said to come back 5 hours later after finally just taking public transportation to get there because the shuttle failed to show up after 2 hours at the victoria. too bad i feel like a kid who just found out the tooth fairy isn't real wow Iam blown away of how bad they fucked it up I would love to see the spirit of the freedom of our rights remain but not hosted by them hopefully the dutch take over .peace fellow stoners

Yeah, just got back from the Katsu. Pretty good shit. So far though I'm leaning towards the chocolope. Pretty tasty stuff. A lot of the entries that I tried are kinda dirty tasting. G13/haze was pretty good though. The SSH kinda blew. I'm using it for hash bedding now.

for a unique experience, go to a museum where they have a metal detector, when you put your coins in the little basket, make sure you have your bag amongst the coins. it's such a trip to have the guard hand you everything back. not even a raised eyebrow. WOW!!!!!

@ Madman. I'm sure the US had a role in all of this but the real catalyst was a shrooming 17 yr. old French woman who jumped to her death.

For many years the French govt. has been putting unbelievable pressure on the Dutch govt. to cut back on its lovely drug policy. Thank Jaques Chirac for the reason why you can now only carry 5g instead of the old 30g (sure the US had her fist up his ass too) :-) have fun in the Jordaan at Noordermarkt.

The seeds are at the Expo in the Powerzone. What's up with the shrooms? Are they being outlawed next year? Dam US has to screw up anything that has to do with fun. Look what we did to the BC Budfest. Sometimes I wonder what this country is trying to do. Us it's just another outsourced product you didn't get your fingers in so you want to spoil it for everyone. For those traveling on a budget...

With 21 coffeeshops entering at least 2 to 3 strands for judging you can quickly get to a thousand dollars in a week, and chances are you'll never smoke it all - not a grand worth in a week.

Hit me up on my blog if you want to share some bud costs. I figure if we hang in rotating groups of 3 to 4, we can each buy one strain for the others to examine and share a taste. That's a huge savings leaving more cash to spend on consuming the choice entries.

Vagabond, don't waste the time riding to the powerzone when you get there because it doesn't open until Sunday morning at 10 AM. Go to Amnesia Coffee shop it's where you register earlier; than the Sunday at the Powerzone. I hate it when that happens. 420 will probably be headquarters for me. So I should be able to find the exchange you're talking about. I've got an apartment right in that area across the street from the Canal. Thank You for the info.

for all of you wanting to know more about whats up. Any time after the 15th you can pickup judge pass,t-shirt and map at amnesia coffeeshop before^6 Arriving sunday you want a Network map has all the metro trams and buses. Registration begins 10am Take metro from central station aprox 12minutes to the Powerzone.spaklerweg If you are a judge starting at 1200sunday a expo shuttle bus will run from the front of hotel victoria(across from central station) to Powerzone once the expo begins numerous booths display their cannibis related product, with seed companys from all over the world there sharing knowledge and information on some of the most popular strains going up in smoke (or vapor)!!! Often distinct smell of samples lingers. shuttles will also take judges to specific shop stops For all who are coming to judge choosing from the 20some coffeeshops can be timley and expensive, sharing flavors, find friends networking, all good!! We want the winner of the 20th coffeeshop cups to be about the best weed and hash in the competition. While having fun& a great holiday,remember The Dutch are great usually not in a hurry. be kind they are all working long and hard for you. ALL the shows and party's shown above are open to all judges as part of your package. I can't remember the name of the exchange center I hit on the shopping street but you can find it on the east side of Niewendijk near the 420 Cafe. They sit on the NE corner of the main street and a smaller path. You should be able to spot them pretty quickly.

The commission rate varies from location to location. I can remember getting hit with 5% at the ABN Amro just outside the baggage claim at the Airport. In town, the exchange rate was about the same as ABN without the commission. ATM is great but watch out for those international transaction charges - on the other hand you will get the best commercial rate of the day.

For those interested, I put together a quick MySpace page to share some pics of Amsterdam on prior trips. I'm new at this MySpace stuff, so any guidance is welcome. You will find a couple of pics of items you may find available in Coffeeshops like binocular magnifiers and vaporisers. As far as tools and loupes goes, I will add a few images of what I picked up at the local flea market. With the dollar weakening every day, I figure I may as well bring as much as possible from here. The way things are looking, you will easily pay $1.50 for every Euro you buy.

TIP: find yourself a commission free exchange center to convert cash or do it before you leave - avoid doing it at the airport if possible

tipps trip into town on hotel shuttle bus 20 euro round trip a taxi is 50 and the train is cool takes you to central station. Learn the trams its easy to get around. Metro takes you to powerzone. Finding friend to share samples saves money many coffeeshops have judges specials. If you arrive early start at Amnesia for map and passs. Its always easy to catch a CC shuttle once the cup starts. Ok so I called up their Costumer Service. I was put on hold for only like 1 minutes MAX. I talked to someone who ask me some questions. everyone check out the FAQ. tickets should be on presale through the 9th. ive been trying for 3 days now and all im getting is the run around. they false advertised the dates. they're now saying i have to pay 200 euro at the door and i cant use my credit card. looks like i get to pay for THEIR mistake.

Thank you Brooklyn just got the same info from Global Tranfers there in Amsterdam. You're a wealth of info and I hope to meet you while there to thank you properly. These people know how to treat a customer and I would recommend them for apartments in the area. They don't need a deposit of cash for the apartment to be refunded at the end of the stay either. I'll be back. They moved me right in front of Central Station from clear out in the west ring of the city as soon as they came across an apartment in a better location without me bugging them they did it on their own to make sure my stay is going to be a good one. They even offered to get me to the train on time to Hilversum. What more could a traveler ask of them.

Go to the Powerzone when you get settled and they can hook you up there. Right in front of Victoria Hotel there are free Shuttle buses to the Powerzone. Not far from Central Station. look for the Cannabis Cup posters in the window for the right shuttle. Or follow the haze.

Just a recommendation for everyone. Be careful of what you are taking hits off of! It's cold and Flu season and germs spread fast. Id you don't get a hit from a clean mouth piece, take a wipe and clean it off. Both times I've gone to the cup with friends, most of them got sick during the trip. You can also use your hand and wrap it around without touching your mouth to it. It sucks getting sick at the cup. I know, I was an inexperienced one the first year and got sick with my friends the last 2 days! Better safe than sorry!
6 days and counting, I'm so excited and nervous! Can't wait for a week of instant parties! WOOHOOOO!!!!!
