Yeah ppl in NL can be rude but not as rude as you my friend.
Learn their lang a little and you will not feel isolated and ridiculed so much.

Can anyone tell me about the smoking ban that has just come into 'force' in July?
It seems to be there to protect employees. So a cs would have to have a 'staff free' zone to be able to allow the smoking of tobacco (not pure weed spliffs) mixed joints.
Anyone know how this is working out and how it is/will be enforced?

Agree with VA. Most of the Dutch locals were assholes. It's not being paranoid, it's being aware of your surroundings. Granted we had a great time, however it did not go un-noticed that the Dutch were rude assholes. I don't smoke, so I really noticed when they were being rude. From the Tram, gift shops, post office to the coffeshops.Most were rude. Owell live and learn. Not everyone is nice. The Dutch are so concern with rude Americans, that they are twice as rude. Google the internet and you see most agree that the Dutch are rude. I've been to 35 countires and never have dealt with such rude people. Fuck the Dutch.

VA----you are way off base. I've read your posts. I am an American, and I don't like bush either. I had no problems with any of the people in the Netherlands. i too was unfortunate enough to have purchased tickets on the abstinence cruise and considered it the low point of my trip a totally wasted $90 could have been better spent on some killer hash. cs tours may have run their tours well but they blew the cruise big time but amsterdam was great and the people were cool love to go back in april or may

We booked our own package, no tour package. We went with VRBO.com and stayed in a private penthouse off the DAM. We rode the tram and did our bought the I Amsterdam card. All of that was great. I even went with CS Travel on the Judge Pass only. That was a great deal, they hooked it up. I agree with Maui. CS Travel was great, they should have planned the cup instead of High Times. Would have been a much better event.

i also agree with the person who said soma's lavender and the blue cheese (got mine at barneys) were the best thing there way too much haze and almost all the shops i visited had better herb than what they entered and were happy to share that fact and some good herb with you and did anyone find the prices a lot lower out of the city?

jury forman i was on that cruise 90 bucks for the thrill of being straight in a'dam the half a muffin didnt get me there i agreed with the guy who said whats the downside to lighting up and getting kicked off near a coffeeshop. thank you cs tours. after reading this blog it seems anyone involved in arranging anything to do with the cup was too stoned, on what i dont know,to do it right.Stay away from arranged tours do it yourself you will save money and get what you want also i found the dutch people to be pleasant, courtious, and helpful for the most part and i have traveled a lot and have yet to go anywhere there werent a-holes some things you just have to live with. i will be back but not for the cup.

I agree fully "crapped on"! The same goes for the Wake and Bake travel company. Everyone who I met in the Dam that had used Wake and Bake travel was having a shit time dealing with them! First they changed the dates on me and my girls flight without telling us (we had to find out thru the confirmation number). No huge deal but it would have been nice to have been notified of it. Then to top it off they weren't at the Airport to "provide transportation to the GH coffeeshop" until later than they said they would and were also in a dif spot than they put on their map. Then once we had found them they drew us a map to our hostel and sent us on our way on the train with little more than an explanation of what we were looking for. They also had failed to mention, prior to us arriving at the airport, that they had switched the hostels we were staying in from one of the nicest in Amsterdam (the flying pig downtown) to some f@#$%ing whole in the wall called the White Tulip. To top that off they hadn't even paid their bill in full by the time we were to check in and the hostel almost didn't let us check in until he paid fully (which was supposed to be that day but they stiffed the hostel again, thankfully the hostel let us stay since they had his cc info anyway). When we finally made it to the GH coffeeshop early enough one morning to try and get our sponsors package the guy runnin the show (WABT) wasn't there and we ended up never getting our sponsor packages!! Personally I would recommend that no one EVER do business with Wake and Bake Travel, it was the worst run operation I have ever seen and the owner and all his little lacky's were the biggest bunch of tool-bags I have ever met.

If your going to go to the DAM (which you def should) book the trip and room yourself and avoid the Cannabis Cup. You will enjoy yourself way more!!!

I'm a stoner and I hold down a full time job I give the people who employ me the consideration of arriving at work straight and remaining that way while i'm there because they, like us, pay good money and expect quality for it. Before I left for the cup this year I tried to block out all the nay-sayers and write off there comments about the cup as a bad experience for them. Unfortunately most if not all things said were true. To begin with if you can't see that votes are bought with advertising, free weed, and parties then you are blind. We bought every weed and hash entry and were not blown away by anything in the cup. We procured some of soma's Lavender at the expo and it was hands down the best weed (the Cheese is the shit too!). Anyway my real beef was with the organization (or lack there of) of the cup. First of all what kind of event is getting changes made to it all the way up to the first day of the event (HOW F#@^ING LONG DID YOU HAVE TO STRAIGHTEN THIS S#@T OUT?!) Also the expo was way too far away and the shuttles to get to them were atrocious to try and board because of the huge crowds of people and no defined lines, you literally had to push your way onto the bus or you weren't getting on. But what really blew me away is the fact that High Times (THE MAGAZINE) couldn't manage to put out an itinerary without major errors including having a party at the winning coffeeshop on the 23rd (apparently the whole column was a typo!!). Bottom line is that Amsterdam is an awesome city that me and my girl will continue to visit for the rest of our lives but Ill be damned if Im ever going to be swindled by High Times ever again!!

If you get the chance to go to Amsterdam take it, but SKIP THE CUP and go when its warm. You won't regret it!

I don't care what they call themselves. When in the DAM they all called themselves DUTCH. So I call them Dutch. I think most agree as well, when I got home, goggle "Mean Dutches" and I was suprised to find so many others agree with me. For the most part I found the dutch to be rude. They deal with Americans, because they have to and then turn around and talk shit in Dutch about stupid Americans. The dutch can keep the cup. Im sure it's all about money and that is some of the wack weed in the tourist area, however most coffeeshops make more money during that 7 day period then they do all year off of the cup, mostly from Americans. From the tram to the coffeeshops, I found the dutch to be rude. I spent good hard earn money to enjoy the likes of the smoke, culture and the people. I don't know why they were all hating.. I spent Euro's. I was not begging them to take my USA Dollar. The cup was alright... however it's a scam and I guess this stupid American as the Dutch would say,fell for it. My bad! Europe may think American is stupid and hate American policy, however without us they are nothing. They are a weak country for being so old. They even let hitler punk them for their own land. They are jealous that his country is younger than the house they live in, and we are so powerful. You always hate what you want to be. I might be a spoiled American, however I believe that they will never be more free than I am. I'm very proud to be a American, stupid or otherwise. And for the record you can't walk in the middle of the street and smoke weed. Only in coffeeshops! Amsterdam will real shoot themself in the foot. Every single yeat they loose rights on what is accepted and what will not be. The rules keep changing on what they can sell and how they can sell. Other countries are pushing them to stop the accepted rule of weed. They will once again be punked and then really will travel to there. Those musuems aren't that exciting.

Just home from the cup.... the city was beautiful, we took it all in. Hit all 22 coffeeshops and found that the dutch are the rudest people on earth. I would love to return to the DAM to smoke and enjoy all the same and new coffee shops, however Amsterdam is not for the Americans. I found the Dutch to be mean and very rude. I found myself being judge several times, due to the fast of being an American. The Grasshopper right off the DAM was by far the worst. Proud to be home in America. The dutch can keep their smoke... The Dutch are just jealous and those damn bikes, get a BMW like every other American...:) Rude Asss Dutches.

As I remember the top 3 celeb strains MAY all be Hazes.
Barneys entered G13 x Haze again, lost last year by 2 votes... I was speaking to a states guy who said he didnt like the G13Haze cause he wanted to taste HAZE when he smokes a haze. Completely negating the Indica dominant side. EVERYONE loves the Buds, smell and HIGH of G13Haze BUT because its not haze dominant, some people wont vote for it!

Last year the vaped the top three strains for 1/2 hour each!
This year they didnt!
LAST YEAR the Greenhouse have 110 euro value judges packages for 10 euro, included a mug or bobblehead, this year 50 euro of junk (a ruler, drink mixers) for 25 euro!
ONLY Barneys stepped up and gave a GREAT goody bag FREE with each strain of grass and hash,a barneys bag, an umbrella, t-shirt, grinder and more.... BUT they ran out by the 2nd day
Dan Skye who does the 420 show is the typical hightimes host, barley holds his contempt for the loser judges, at one point when Jack Herer spoke his stroke caused some lapses... and Dan said, he makes more sense than most of the illiterate judges he has met so far!

Sunday night's Cannabis Cup at the Power Zone was eventful. This facility was by far the largest ever to host a Cannabis Cup. So only to crowded to get to the front of the booths. Major problems included very little lighting at many booths and far to few chairs for the judges to sit & rest. But the major disappointment of the evening was after the late announcement of the 3 weed finalist (Green House, Tweede Kamer & Mellow Yellow entries), that only the Green House was giving away vaporizing bags & joints. No samples from the other 2 finalists as promised by High Times and way to little given out by the Green House for everyone to try. Good music later in the evening but many judges had long since left.

hello to so high and kushola_702 i have spent much time in amsterdam and at the cannabis cup. currently 1 american dollar is worth .68 euro. so a dollar is worth 68 cents in amsterdam, the best thing to do, if you have one is to keep most of your money in your checking acoount and use you your atm card to retrieve money at atm's. this will give you the best exchange rate, no extra fees, commisions or gimicks that come with exchanging cash money in amsterdam. of course I advise that everyone has around $150-$200 in their pocket to exchange at the airport so you have some cash in hand for taxi's, trains into the city, and your first coffeeshops and food and so on. don't forget the call your bank and tell them of your plans to use your card overseas and that you have an ample daily withdraw amount so that you can cover all exspenses, emergencies, and suprises. have fun see ya in the dam, peace! pot junkie mike

for a unique experience, go to a museum where they have metal detectors, when you pull out your pocket contents, make sure you have a bag amongst the coins. put it all in the little basket they give you. it's such a neat trip to have the guard hand you back your stash. not even a raised eyebrow. 200Euros- for Judges Pass gets you into to everything going on in the city and the Expo all week.
20Euro a day- gets you into the Expo only and that is for Monday-Wednesday only

I was thinking of going to Zandvoort on Tuesday morning and getting back between 12 and 1. Was thinking of making the DNA grow seminar. Tickets are round trip open travel time , so it easy to head back anytime! I'll be at the Opening ceremonies! The cool coffeeshop there has a Native American Indian, Southwestern motif, called Yanks www.yanks.nl
The place was even blessed by a Medicine Man!

Hi, Everybody...Really lokkin forward to this! But..the Cup starts 18th right! And its all about the weed/hash..So why travel alway down to the powerzone 10pm to register and be sat about till 8pm for the opening ceremonies? (when u could b hittin up all the entertainment in the world, ganja, women, coffeshops etc..its all about the centre of DAM and the WEED/HASH.. Ok the Expo is miles away and they provide buses..but its more of a day trip (shops, new products, a few bongs) u only need to see it once...So why travel all way down there to register? or people forgeting about the smaller coffeeshops? (what have excellent weed/hash) and havin a good time with fellow stoners! or is it all about the expo and sellin products ...well im flyin out sunday from the UK (early) and will be happy to see all u guys in the coffeeshops! thanks high times for organising the event. but think reg could have been done a little closer to home...big up DNA, Grey Area and Amensia u were great to us last year...(especially Amensia and Barneys for takin us on ya boat to the expo!) see u soon

Zandvoort trip to the seaside coffeshop. What time of day and what day were you intending on going on this excursion? I'd be up for it if it was in the morning so I was back by noon or sooner. Hope they aren't having the weather they had last week with 20 foot wave surges hitting the shores and leveling woods clear into Finland. But who doesn't want to test Mother nature in all her wonderous fury. Missed by four Tornadoes in the last couple of months here in central Michigan split both times on either side of the property. What a site watching them form and tearing it up. I've got a previous appointment on Saturday when I get in but any other day would be fine.

About 6 of us will be attending from Atlanta on Saturday & Sunday for the week. Keep an eye out for us. 5 dudes 1 girl at the events and 6 dudes and 2 girls at the nonevents. That narrows it down right? Anyways, look forward to seeing everyone there for major, major good times.

O high O, the buddy Babez and Hoodlamb models are the escorts from the airport when you land. Supposedly entertaining us with bongs of pleasure on the ride from airport to the Greenhouse where they ladden us with a goodie bag full of special things they are giving us from the sponsors. Did you send in your jacket size on the WABT site so it will be waiting for you when you get there? As for the tours and things I'm just rolling with the show and seeing what happens. First timer and promoting our Extreme Art Form. Donating a sculpture for Wednesday nights party at the Milky Way. I got my own apartment right across the street from the Central Station. Sunday 4:20 PM at the 420 Cafe we'll see how some of the smoke burns there in the Dam. I'm here for all of it. Got to go see Van Gogh'sMuseum, Rembrant's place ect ect. Need some of that Gouda cheese too. Going shopping in the market there in the Jordan so the frig is full when I want to eat I can eat. Got to check out the Bourbon St. Blues Club because that's my kind of music but they have quite the line up at the clubs also. Wish Anna Popovic was in town she sure knows how to bend those strings. Certainly not enough time but just blazing the trail for next year when I'm there for a 6-8 week adventure carving in 5-6 countries with my chainsaw whelding friends from around the world. Tot Ziens

Out of Detroit 4:10 PM 16th arrive 5:55 AM 17th I'll warm up a few of the shops for you guys. Got to jump a train south for the day by noon so hurry up. I've got to carve all day so I can play the rest of the week. Wake and Bake is shuttling me straight to the Greenhouse from the Airport. Getting the royal treatment with the Buddy Babez tending to my needs when I get there. I love my job and can't wait to pop this virgin cupper's cherry with some of Arjan's crop. UP IN SMOKE. Sadly I have never timed a cup visit, but have spent literally hundreds of days on business in the Dam.. my advise to the new punters -- is to pace yourself and get used to the potency. some of the gear is right up there with hand-rolled hash from afghanistan (opium laced) that was walked into Hong Kong, by donkeys across mainland china. You get my drift. I have seen people spoil a visit to amsterdam by trying to be hero's.. Tolerance is earned folks!! I have seen this gear put down (green out) 30 year tokers!! and lastly, dont be a disrespectful ass and smoke outside a primary school, hostpital, or public library -- because it gives foreigners a bad name a certain muppets in politics -- then have unecessary ammunition against the existing dutch drug laws..

That sure threw a wrench into the plans. So I guess the 4:20 PM Party is going to start else where. I'm from the US so I'm going to start mine at the 420 Cafe since it's closest to my apartment. it's going tobe a loooooooong night. Concious Dreams is right there also so we can wake up with some of their shrooms later. Nothing opens up in the city before 10 AM does it/ I'm an early riser being a good old country boy that I am. The Bourbon St. Blues Club is open until 4-5 in the morning so that's an option.
