I live in Belgium, been smoking for some years now.
So,I got there on the first Sunday. I visited Amsterdam from 9am till about 14pm. Smoked some good weed in different small shops, I avoided the shops who participated because they were to crowdy and to damn expensive!!
Then we headed to the expo and boy was that a major RIPOFF!! You pay 30 euros to get in; and me and my friend saw the whole thing in like 15 minutes! 30 euro for 15 mins of nothing...
I remember there was a guy on the roof at the expo that said to his buddy (i quote) 'Did we came all the way from the States for this?, let's get the f/ck out of here and find a real Dutch shop!"
This is what i saw at the famous expo:
1 growtent, 1 bcnorthernlights cabinet, 3 bongs, i saw Soma, and maybe 5 or 6 stands with 2 or 3 dudes behind a table passing out flyers....THAT'S IT!!!
My friend was like "where the f*ck is the rest of the event??" We both laughed and took the first metro back to the city center to find some real shops.
This was the first and last time i've visited the whole cannabis cup thing. Next time i'm going to A'dam just for the small/real coffeeshops; i'm not going to visit the big/famous shops.
"The cup" is just a way to attract more people(=$$$)to buy weed at the shops who participate(thus pay enough to Hightimes). And those who pay, usually win (see Barney's or Greenhouse). No wonder the small shops do not want to take part in this scam, because that's what it is.
And as for the judge passes, that's an even bigger scam! You have to pay for everything you smoke haha.

I'll be back around 4/20 before and after I compete in Berlin. I will be there for Queen's Day this year. Big Budda wants me to come and carve for them in Birmingham, England so I might try to do that when I'm there in April/May. I do this for a living and had a wonderful response to the article I wrote last year when Barney's won the Cup. I carved a replica of the Cup last year. Only had 4 1/2 hours to do the carving. Made better plans this year and it showed. It took me five days to finish it this year with the help of all my carving family there in The Netherlands. We hope to get Vondel Park and Artis Zoo to commission us to carve those tree stumps which stand idle throughout the park and Zoo. I'm the events coordiantor for United Chainsaw Carvers Guild. And This article will be in the newsletters for our Rendezvous in Ridgway, PA the last week of February. We have around 200 carvers from around the world come and share and carve during this week long Rendezvous of chainsaw sculptors from around the world.

I have one request of those that attended the festivities at the Powerzone. I'm the chainsaw sculptor who carved the piece which was given to the GReenhouse United for their work in producing the Lemon Skunk which put us in the fog more times than once. Arjan was surprised when I approached him after expecting his Cup letting him know that I had carved the piece for the winner. The bad news was he had to figure out how to move it. It has a new home in the Office of Greenhouse. I couldn't make a time frame to the office for a photo opt so I need to know if any of you had good photos of the piece to share with me. I write an article after this each year about the process and need some photos to go with it. I was busy carving for the first week I was there and the rest of the time I was you guessed it High.
We were glad to help buy up and use those last of the legal shrooms before Dec. 1 date to remove them from the smartshops throughout The Netherlands. What a place to have a nice grin on your face all day.
Sorry for not being capable of eeting up with so many that had wanted to. It wasn't like we weren't trying. I'll be back for 4/20 beofr egoing to Berlin to carve and then back for Queen's Day and more work on proposing use of those idle tree stumps in Vondel Park. Don't forget Anne Frank's Home that Chestut tree is in dire straits and should be turned into something for the landmark.

Offcourse are cannabiscup a turisttrap made to buy there thoosen smokes, and people love buying it, that why there there for...
Many americans cant even get proper hash in united states, and if ya wanna try diffrent types of smokes the coffeeshops are great for that (Import hash are allmost not high grade)
There are 282 coffeeshops in amsterdam and nobody have told any to stick to the map.. who could and would!?
but the cannabiscup are a event you cant find many other places and is worth trying. I even think its a turist fuckup but i like the enviroment on the coffeeshops and the free city :)
Next time when i will come to Amsterdam, it will be a summer because i got tirred of all thoose people at the cannabiscup, and i have only been there 2 times!

Go in the summer and ask the Coffeeshops what they REALLY think about the cup! They WILL tell you! Ask the Damkring if they think its FAIR. Ask the Damkring how much they would have to spend to be competitive! THEY WILL TELL YOU if its NOT november! Ask the AnyDay or better still the Old Church!

Remember when they had the Charade of 420. Where IF you had a paper or a pipe you could fight and claw your way through the mob to get a half gram. That was REAL CLASSY!
Then the 1st year they stopped it, at a grow seminar, people were getting antsy and interrupting the seminar until finally Fat Pot Star announced, Ok its 420, Light it if ya got it! HA!

Last year, when barneys SWEPT was a good year for the Ganja, but as usual, it was a SHITTY cup, thanks to High Times who screw it up EVERY YEAR, regardless of how extraordinary the Coffee Shops perform!

Gapie is the PERFECT judge. Barely scrapes by enough money to judge 5 strains, gets his pass for free and is impressed at the freebies!
Ask Nol at Willie Wortels (High Times wont let them enter because STOOPID AMERICANS can't find Haarlem)
Ask the coffeeshops NOT in centrum how many "judges" they get.
Ask the Damkring if they think it is worthwhile bribing judges to win. Oh wait, they already answered in 1998!
The CUP is NOT a celebration of Ganja. For that you must go to a harvest cup but guess what? LOSERS can't BUY a pass to that!
Or the High-Life cup, the spannish cup, even the 420 is MORE a celebration of the Cannabis Culture!

You can't go too wrong in Rotterdam. The zoo is cool (I spent hours getting stoned and looking at the monkey cage). The place to stay is called something like "The Home Hotel" or "The House Hotel" if it's still around. You actually rent someone's flat for a couple of nights. Really inexpensive and some nice digs. Actually, if you're looking for a scene slightly different from Amsterdam (Rotterdam is like a more cosmopolitan version of the former) I recommend the old city of Maastricht. It still has plenty of coffee shops, but it has an old medieval wall around the city and a couple of other features that make it more interesting then some other cities in the Netherlands.

I have not properly smoked nepalise hashisch yet for sure, but im very interrestin in trying the high-grade standards, but im not a opium ( puppy ) fan, and nepal have tradition to put it in some hashisch, but it would be nice to compare to our pakistani hashisch import. I Read it should be smooth smoke and allmost as potent as Afghani hashisch..

I'll be there in the evenings after I get back from chainsaw carving all day in Lage Vuurshce everyday. My friend with me will be there during the day because he won't have fun watch me carve all day in the woods. I live in Michigan in the middle of the state. In April I might be able to come to Denmark for a visit with relatives. What is Christania a city in Denmark? What part of Denmark are you from? Maybe we can get a time to meet when you're there. We arrive on the 19th and stay until December 2. I love hash and mix it with my weed and oils for the ultimate high. Nothing like a blunt with all the above in it. Renember it cost alot for the cannabiscup hash even with the damn judges bagdes. all from 7 to about 80 eu.
Free Hash&Weed Samples are not something you just get , Barney's gave a bag of 0.3 gram of tripple x hash and about same violator isolator last year.

Does anyone have the coffee shop map for all of The Netherlands? The online version to surf the whole country and all the shops. I had a great one but the computer went down and I lost it. You can punch in the city and all the shops would be listed. Great tool for those of us that want to explore outside of Amsterdam and inside the city as well.

You can also smoke (at vaporizers) free weed. Just a sample of each cofeeshop entry.
You gonna find a lot of lighters, smoking papers, filters, all those free smoke-gifts.
You can vote on your favorite strain.
At the event you can handle with pot-smokers like you, you can learn a lot about growing and itīs a good place to choose seeds.
Itīs the biggest pot-event in the world and it rocks!

I called the Melkweg. They said smoking is only allowed upstairs in the smoking lounge, not in the music venues or lobby or bar. And the upstairs is a smaller area, can't hold large groups of people.
Was told by third party that Power Zone does not allow smoking on main floor, so how will vendors/ visitors smoke there. No more hits at the vendor tables ?
I've asked this question before , and would really like to know.

I'm still looking for someone from Barney's to get on here to put me in contact with Jose the driver. He sent me photos of the sculpture I did for Barney's last year at the Cup. Just wanted to know where to contact him or his email. I lost it. I have a photo of Jose with the Canabis Cup posing next to the replica that I carved there in the Netherlands last year.
A 25 minute train ride to Zandvoort enn Zee where a great coffeeshop named Yanks exists. http://www.yanks.nl has a native American decor which I have a very fond aquaintance with here in the USA. Thank you Alan from AZ for introducing me to this special place by the sea.

Was told that smoking is only allowed upstairs in the smoking lounge, or outside, and not in the main areas-bar, front area, music rooms.
Called Power Zone, where Expo will be held. Thought there would be no smoking in the main Expo area for the Cups, but not confirmed.
Will follow up with more calls to the office.

That statement is not completely accurate. As of July 1, no smoking of any kind is allowed in bars, cafes, restaurants, nightclubs, which includes Power Zone amd Melkweg.
Cannabis-only smoking will be allowed in Coffeeshops only, provided the employees are physically partitioned off with separate ventilation.
Smaller coffeeshops will be difficult in doing this, and will only sell.
That is why I have been asking for clarification.

Re: COURT NEWS UPDATE - Religious Exemption
Our release from prison
On my behalf and Reverend Tucker’s behalf, my Brother of some 40 years, whom I can not associate with at this time because of our Appeal Bail Conditions, I thank you all for your prayers and to say how much we appreciated the protest of our imprisonment in front of the John Sopinka Court House in Hamilton in April.

At the time we were sitting in Barton Street Jail, in the Dorm on the 5th floor with 12 other guys in a 30” x 35’ Dorm when it hit the news. We were about as happy as any prisoners could be to have such support and I want to let you to know how good it made us feel. So thank you. We spent some 20 days in that Jail House all together. In short, I spent about 28 days in gaol. Nine in the Pen – Millbrook Assessment Unit “MAU”. It was probably not as bad as the Provincial Corrections Facility where they imprisoned Reverend Tucker at Penetanguishene and where he was threatened – note: Thank you Sister Angel for your publicity, but at the MAU it was 23 hr. lock up in a 10’ x 7’ steel cell. What’s with dat? In any event, much to tell later. What a relief to be out, I speak for both of us.
COURT NEWS UPDATE: Brother Walter and I shall be in Toronto In the Court of Appeal for Ontario at Osgoode Hall on
Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 at 10 am, to ask the Court to vary Reverend Tucker’s Bail Conditions so he may live at 544 Barton at the Morning Star Mission again where he can pay rent and look after and protect his home which we are responsible for pending the out-come of the appeal. We believe this will be permitted. I will be making a Bail Application some time after that and we plan to make it somewhat constitutional.
Special Note: I heard from Brother Case Klevering, from Guelph, Ontario, that he met with the many of Toronto’s G13 Missionaries in attendance at Reverend Tucker’s last Bail Hearing and I/We look forward to seeing you on the 25th if possible? Note: After the hearing, Mr. Boushy advised us when Reverend Tucker and I met with him in his office yesterday, that he will be appearing that afternoon as Counsel in G13’s Defence at Old City Hall so we can all go for lunch after the Court of Appeal and discuss the case in his company.
Well, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and I/we believe that our time for a Religious Exemption is at hand.
