i'm sorry to have to point out your supermom but there's some very high buds being grown in socal. hell there's some pretty kind buds being grown all over the place and nowadays, in california especially with the club scene, the availability of quality cuttings has only added to the kind being grown all over the place. don't get me wrong, im from the bay area originally, lived there 20+ years, and the norcal pot scene has traditionally been at the forefront but that doesn't mean that anything grown outside of norcal is trash.

as a san diego grower who grows my own very high quality meds i find your ignorant generalization quite offensive. you have some nerve to disrespect a whole region simply because it lies outside of an "imaginary line" that apparently divides our great state. this whole norcal/socal rivalry is moronic, grow up child. good growers grow good weed, no matter the location...

ps- i'd put my homegrown plants up against anything you grow, give you a nice big bite of humble pie...

To the peopel who aren't impressed buy the pot in California it's because you got stuff from SOUTHERN CA. The stuff in NORTHERN CA is in a totally other class of marijuana. Anywhere from Sacramento up is going to have some primo buds. Humboldt County is legendary. Some of my favorite strains that are grown around here are Green Crack, Grand Daddy Purple, Trainwreck, OG Kush, Purple Kush, Mr Nice. You can barely see the buds through the crystals. Go to the Cannabis Club in Colfax CA. They have some of the best stuff I have seen anywhere as of 2010.

i have a strain growing thats purple right away (3 weeks into flowering), not the leaves or the hairs but the bud is deep pure velvet purple. I started fr a random seed pulled fr some really good smoke that had a long uppy high. Again the purple came right away into flowering, leaves completely green and tempatures good, any ideas on strain, its likes/dislikes.

the purple and great strains can be found in any state and even small towns, homegrowers r smoking stuff and you never know, thanks to nirvana for their Bubbleicious and a shut down seed bank in canada with their blue russian X sudden impact i crossed several times i turned out a strain i named Blackberry because of the berry smell was completely purple like the commercialy avaliable strain with the same moniker. Also nirvanas bubbleicious was purple from leaves to calyxes and aslo a grape berry like flavor, even had leaves that were green on top and purple on the flip side, defintley both were stage 3 purpling. Althoug the summer harvest did not show much coloring hopefully this coming winter crop will completely color and remember the cali or bc u claim is the best is being grown and smoked all over so put your lil dick back in your pants and remember its not that big and your buds arent any better

I'm From NY and I can honestly say I never tried the Purple Kush...loved all other kush strains...but the East Coast Sour Diesel is by far better than any kush I tried and probably better than the PK. Try Purple Rainbow.
Purple Rainbow is bit expensive, but is the best kinda Kush, hybrid of Purple Kush and Rainbow Kush.
I picked up a dub yesterday, and pulled a few puff on my aluminum pipe.
Then, I was gone.

Im from the Bay Area, but have lived in New york City for 5 years now. I get some shit called Sour Diezel that will blow your mind. Thats the one consistent chronic on the east that can even come close to comparing to the hundreds of great strains all throughout Northern Cali. I'm sure Socal has some shit too. So.. it seems there are a lot of purple smoke extraordinaires out there... If you read the article above you'll find the wool that's being pulled over the eyes of most of you. If you wait long enough most any strain will turn purple. And especially if the temperatures are cold enough. Anyone with an indoor room that wants purple color to their product need do nothing more than "freeze the room out" at about 55 degrees during lights out for the final week or two of bloom to turn the product purple. Granted it doesn't have the authentic smell of purple urkle, granddaddy purple or purple kush, but half of you out there don't know the difference anyways. You just know what you're told and that's it. Odds are the granddaddy you're smoking isn't really granddaddy. It's froze out green-something-or-other. It's called strain protection. You don't want everyone having what you've got but everyone wants what you've got so they make up a name for their sh-tuff. Very few people in Nor Cal actually have their hands on the granddaddy. At least from what I've seen. Most are imitators. Purple Urkle called Granddaddy because that's what everybody wants. When you're fetching 42 an elbow for Granddaddy and 39 for Urkle why not just change the name and get three more bills. And if you're getting 34 for your Afghooey x Blueberry why not freeze out the room and add some color to boost market appeal and price.... Anyways... I recommend Fox Farm when trying to grow it too, it's organic and it's from Humboldt CO. which as most potheads know is where the poppin genetics come from. A buddy of mine grows a special perp plant called 'The Purple Killer' aka 'The Purple Assassin' now i'm a vet, but this shit got me blowed... Looks like a fuzzy ball of purple cabage, seeds not for sale anywhere. Garuntee there is no purp anywhere that can even come close.

If all you can get is green bud then you kind of have to convince yourself that it's just as good as purple. While there are some awesome strains of green bud, it's likely that if you can't get purp in your area you also can't get any of those either. Out here in the bay weed is basically legal and so on any given day you can get just about anything you want. Although, it is true that bammer is probably the hardest thing to get ahold of out here.
