MAKING BETTER BUBBLE HASH

Follow these instructions and learn how to make better bubble hash at home using wet, trimmed sugar leaves, water and ice.

When cannabis trichomes are separated and collected through a process involving ice, water and silk-screen filters, they form concentrated, soft and extremely potent hashish that bubbles and melts near flame if prepared properly. This is bubble hash.

If you want to create high-grade bubble hash at home, the following process is simple and effective, and for small custom batches it’s impossible to beat the quality and taste. This method works for both 1- and 5-gallon-bag sets.

After you’ve harvested and trimmed your buds, separate the sugar leaves to make bubble hash. Remove all fan leaves and yellowing leaves, as well as anything not coated in resin. It’s important to use only high-quality wet sugar leaves for this process. Using wet leaves rather than dry ones ensures that less green plant matter will fall through the screen, keeping the hash super-pure.

Once you’ve collected your trimmed sugar leaves, make sure to store them in a freezer. (Note: Keeping your collected sugar leaves separated by strain allows you to make either pure hash or a specifically mixed creation.)

Once your sugar leaves have been trimmed and frozen, you’re ready to make bubble hash. First, line an appropriate bucket with your 1- or 5-gallon-bag set. Next, place a layer of crushed ice in the bottom of the bag-lined bucket (store-bought crushed ice works best, as the sharp edges break off resin heads exceptionally well) and top with the frozen, trimmed sugar leaves (about 3 inches deep). Then add a second layer of crushed ice and a second layer of frozen sugar leaves, followed by a final layer of ice. Once you’ve finished layering the ice and leaves, add cold water to just below the rim of the bucket.

I have been all over the world & US states and cities smoking the best, and it all works on me. some has been better than oters. I have been consuming herb for 37 years.
I have grown plants sinse i was a kid, back in the days it was hard to find bad shit. I have grown killer buds that get you high as hell from compressed old mexicon dirt weed seeds, plants were grown in the forest with great soil & you would never think it came from mex dirt weed. I have grown the best indoor from very good seeds saved from good buds.I have grown outdoor just as good as any hydo. I have smoked african black from the ivory coast that looked and tasted like ass, but got me high as the best i ever smoked anywhere (unbeleivable). Its an opinion, some peple dont want to get as baked as others, i like one hit stuff, but i also like to smoke a good J of something i can take at least 10 good puffs of and still function and taste good like fresh home grown non processed buds. any bud you grow yourself always is better. southern states have the longest grow period because of warm climate, tall 10' to 17 ' plants with big fat buds but you have to wait 11 months, in the meantime you can be harvesting indoor or buying. northern states have buds in 6 or 7months. I have made all kinds of hash. Bubble bags is the best & the best yeild & its hard to do wrong. I have used the gummy method with butane and pvc pipe works very well, make sure you are outdoors and not smoking or around electric outlets to cause spark.

Can't believe I read through this whole bunch of you suck bs while just finding out that the hash I have been making is bubble hash. I use the purest form RAW water(DO)and butaine methods I get 85%-92% THC from my method. If you are wondering how much of what,what, then you know the content of the plants themselves. I recieved a garbage bag full of trash weed and got less oil out of it than the half pound of ditch weed stems and leaves. I would never use anything unless it was coated STICKY. So as far as the method I say it doesn't matter. I get more yeehaw outa butaine and sticky. Just my findings but I've always had that scientific understanding. There are some awsome methods I did find from this and will be using them. I wish I didn't read a book on the dumb sh** I had to to get to the end. GET STONED BABY!!!!!!

Are you guys (THC) talking about liquid oxygen serious? Liquid O2 is unbelievably explosive and a super strong oxidizing agent. If you tried to "extract" weed with liquid oxygen, you would most definitely have an explosion.

Well I am a Legal canadian patient/grower had a mishap where I didnt notice a new strain of sativa I was growing developed some nanners late in flower and all the bud was full of immature seed so I decided to make hash of it all.
Cut down about 2200g of wet bet and froze it immediately so far from just 500g of wet bud The yield has been around 30g of hash is this about normal when using bud or am I getting a bit of a low count as far as I can tell when its all done I should end up with 120g or so does this seem like a good yield ?

Blaize - when youve strained the resin, let it settle somewhere warm over night. itll look dryish but the inner is not dry, itll be still damp and resinous.

break it up and then work it between your fingers, the warmth of your fingers will warm the resin in the hash and start to make it sticky, also your fingers will help remove that last bit of moisture and within minutes you will have a beaut lump of sticky black. i find it works best with the 25, 45 & 73 micron bags. the higher bags hash i dont think is fine enough to come together as a smooth black resin so keep the 90 micron and above as slate/rocky hash.

I must say that I find the info on here fairly interesting and informative. I do not enjoy the adds because I use mobile internet and it makes things slow. With that said I would like to say that I have traveled,lived,worked,and done time for this thing we are discussing. I find it offensive that every1 bickers about the trivial things. I enjoy the stories of origin in regards to strain and pedigree, I believe it should be attempted to pedigree all strains so that intelligent patterns can be developed in regards to breeding better strains. I also know sometimes ya just get lucky but we can all exchange ideas more to further the experience on an individual and canna cultural level. I was gifted a OG13B slice a old friend of mine had been doing since the 80's and I would love to see it shared but I hate all this nonsense I see in the world of herb. Top quality strain,knowledgeable grower,proper lighting&nutrients,and love make good smoke not area of the world or monetary lust. Of course there are areas the plant would do better in then others so of course that's a variable but honestly it can be done anywhere if you have the knowledge...KNOWLEDGE! So let's stop fighting over trivial pursuits and spread real knowledge to each other on here so we can make better herbs&a better reputation for our plants and the cannabis community. I'm sure my words won't mean much to any1 because this is a old thread but I wanted to add my thoughts like every1 else. God bless you all and the states who are enlightened enough to have medical

also get some weed blocker , that stuff that you use on your garden, it should be plastic on one or both sides, thats your first trash filter, and then fine silk , line the bucket with silk and next put in your weed blocker. fill the bucket with weed trim and ice, let it sit in the ice for a few minites, then start mixing it the same way you do with the bubble bags. pull out the trash in the weed blocker and set aside, next pull out the silk by holding it closed with one hand and your other hand on the bottom, slowly squeezing out the water, lay that silk on something hard and flat and use an old plastic card ( i use my pet smart card) to scrape all the wet goo into a ball and lay that on a paper towel.fold the paper towel over it and press out any water... i have the bubble bags, and this is finer then the best bags... it works... use good silk

Budder GOd:
Co2 works well also ( I've experimented with everything possible I think!), but still has some "dirty Particulate" in it. Medical grade liquid o2 is the only way to go in my opinion (especially since it is a smaller particualte than Co2 or No2, etc. THe smaller particels are essentially smaller "filters", that come into contact with more surface area considering the increased surface area of the smaller particle), why waste time concentrating and removing contaminants to just add some different cantaminants during the process. The added expense of the Liquid medical pure o2 is well worth it to me, but to each his own.
I have heard of the God Budder from the 'couver, never tried any (would love to though! Just haven't made it up there since my Wife got a DUI here in the States and now Canada won't let her in, damn socialists!), but I would venture to guess it is right in line; qaulity wise, with my products. If it shines like gold and sizzles like steak fajitas on steriods, then you have somehting worth smoking there!
If you have tried the "God Budder" or any THC that is concentratd to the 75-89% levle ou should remeber the hell out of it (unless you smoked too much; in which case you will force yourself to forget that horrid experience; believe me!!! vWeed hangovers are by far worse than alcohol hang overs, it just takes a rediculous amountof THC in your system to cause one, and most never have to find out about them; luckily for them!!!). I still have people I haven't talked to in years see me at ashow or around; they always try to fanagle some out of me. Sorry only for the heads who stick around for life! You know who you are! therwise it is your labor of love to produce it and smoke it, not mine. it is an intense method, and man does it take a chemists sense of patience to really tinker around and get the process 100% tight. Expect to waste a lot of product, and expect to break some stuff (By accident or otherwise!) just keep up with it and keep a well detailed log of your experiments/outcome.

It's all about the scientific method with this undertaking!

AS one of the few people who first introduced CO2 extraction made "budder" in Van all I can say is that THC has knowledge on extracts and he is right on why its number 2 on his list.

p.s. I personally love a strain called pooh
and I believe the "budder" i have made from
it was one of the best THC products ever
made in history. Anyone from Van who was
there in the last 2 years and smoked our
"God Budder" made from POOH knows who I am
and what I'm talking about.

An update to my list of hash extracting methods seen below:

Also you can add the "budder" method to #2 on my list. It is essentially the same as forced o2 filtration, except you "wash" the extract with acid to render the most Delta 9 THC you can from the mixture. This is a great method and renders a seriuoulsy potent extract (50-90% THC); however the one problem I hav is that it sort of kills out the other CBN's and CBD's that go into the perfect mix of structures that gets you high just right (not balanced). I've tried 100% THC (Chromo gas seperation in tubes) and it isn't all that great without the CDB's and CBN's mixed in, the high just gets lost, I felt something, but it wasn't the usual cerebral heat brought upon by great hash. I would venture to say going any further than 90% THC is wasteful in so far as it isn't balanced with CBD's and CBN's to it's true perfection. As always IMHO.

I also forgot to mention that if you're using actual buds and not clippings your yield will GREATLY increase. I usually use all the tiny buds and all of the sugary leaves, if it doesn't look sugary don't put it in your bubble bags; period.

No one can accurately tell you how much Hash you will render from (7) Ounces of clippings. There are just too many variables to give you an accurate answer.
1) how sugary (How much crystalization appears on the clippings) are the clippings you speak of on a scale from 1-10?
2)Did you separate the fan leaves, leaves with no crystals and stems from the clippings? If not a certain level of contamination will be present in your finished product.
3) What specific strain of herb did you derive the clippings from?
4) Have you made bubble has before? A lot of times practice will ensure that you maximize your hash production. Don't be so quick, take your time, be nice and subtle at first and then get rougher as you go along and separate the higher grades first to insure you have the best quality hash before you take a concrete mixer to your clippings and break up all the different parts of the trichome into one mass of eviscerated resin. GENTLE GENTLE GENTLE!
5) How much time and effort are you willing to put forth to p[roduce the maximum amount of hash? If you have only 1 day i would say you're going to waste a lot of trichomes, but if you slow down the process and go over a 3 day period with a crap load of ice, you should maximize your output.
6) Use medical grade Oxygen and you will greatly increase your yeild, decrease contamination, and increase potency ( the highest potency I have personally tested is 89% THC- which is damn fine and unheard of by most hash makers. Then again I have a proprietary system with some extra screens that separate the different parts of the trichome much better.) It is easy just use a diffusion stone and wand, put it at the bottom of your bucket and turn it on to a nice slow percilation; the temperature of the liquid o2 will harden the crystals and the gentle bubbling will release them from the plant matter. It is amazing to me that no one has written an article about this method of extraction. HIGH TIMES IF YOU WOULD LIKE ONE WRITTEN PLEASE LEAVE ME CONTACT INFO ON THIS SITE AND I WILL GLADLY DO A WRITE UP ON MEDICAL O2 BUBBLE BAG EXTRACTION; IT'S THE BEST BY FAR! (Be careful medical grade liquid o2 is extremely combustible, use at your own risk!)

I would say if you go middle of the road, meaning you don't cut corners but don't go above and beyond. you should get anywhere from 1/2 - 3 ounces of hash (various grades, or 1 grade if you mix, but please do not mix the grades otherwise just use the 1 bag and save some time! Mixing the grades seems so rediculous to me, I see it all the time at the dispensaries, if it doesn't bubble into a liquid explosion when the flame barely heats it, it isn't high grade bubble hash, and who doesn't want the highest grade possible? Unless they are for profit and then it is the lowest grade at the highest price possible which is whack!), but again there are too many variables to say for certain. TRY IT OUT AND POST HOW MUCH YOU GET ON THIS FORUM.

Well you can argue over where and who has the best buds but you will never come to a true end point. I have to make the argument that Colorado is one of the best and best kept secrets of the Marijuana world. Just think for a second, all teh buds that have to cross state lines for transit come through here and little pieces of each load gets chopped off and sold locally. We have the richest Co2 climate in the US, with a perfect semi-arid desert climate not too wet not too dry (But mroe on teh drry side). We have some of the best soil for growing (outdoor, good indoor soil is easy to find everywhere its called fox farm ocean forest! Sunshine Blend is okay as well, but FF Ovcean forest is just fucking amazing!). Not to mention we have now and have ahd some of the slackest pot laws on teh books for ages. All the touring bands come through here, and the weed leads them/follows them. We had some of the oldest old school hippie communes (Drop City Specifically, Strawberry patch (in steamboat), and tons of others)
I have been to the cannibis cup multiple times, I have been to some of the fields in afghanistan on (2) occassions, I have tasted nepolese temple ball hash (Mine is much more potent and much better tasting, I use a 12 bag ( all the way down to 5 micron- it is hard to filter but worth not losing any product over, and the separation of an evenly spaced out system makes for more separation of amber heads/white heads/tails/base/etc... bubble bag system that I built with proprietary Micron sizes- so there aren't many that can match my sizzle hash- Oh yeah if you just use a diffussion stone with liquid medical oxygen you don't need the ice and you can extract much more resin, with far less contaminant. To those touting Bubble bag hash as crazy. You just have no idea! Yes it is work, but all things worth doing are worth working for right? At least to those who aren't so lazy and willing to slack trere work load onto others.) I have been to the USA Cannibis cup in Vegas 3 times, I have been to Vancouver Island harvest fest once and I have sampled just about every type of hash, oil, honey, tincture and extract there is.

The point, in all my travels to pot events and all the pot I have tried I stil have yet to find a strain that equals the pure haze grown in Fort Colllins COlorado. I love the Haze and the Haze loves me.

I have had some of somas personal stash bubble hash, and he ain't got shit on my bubbles (colorado bubbles!). Although it comes in a close third place of all the hash I have ever had, my buddy chizla gets 2nd place props.

My favorite in order of most to least favorite hash making system:

1) Finger/scissor hash from clipping a fresh crop (Not the most potent, but by far the freshest and most pleasureable to smoke as it is ready right when your crop is! I have a warm spot in my heart for all the hash I have collected from my fingertips, an epicurian delight too few of us enjoy or even know, but all should partake in!)

2) Medical O2 forced filtration extraction/collection (Not too many people know of this system let alone how to build it or it's functionality) Most people use butane for this method, but sadly they don't realize that butane is dirty as hell and while they are removing plant contamination, they are introducing so many other types of contamination they are just rediculous to think it a descent practice. medical grade o2 all the way!!! Just don't blow yourself up! It is dangerous!

3) Bubble bags with Medical o2 diffussion stone utilization

4) Bubble bags with plain ice utilization

5) Nepolese temple balls (Not too sure of the extraction process in it' sentirety, but it is some of the best stuff around for thousand of years! No match to a very labor intensive fully contaminant free medical o2 filtered product, but the best you can find mass produced by far!)

6) Cold alcohol solvency (At least 50% alcohol to use as a solvent. Then you just let the alcool evaporate and you have some of the nicest/easiest hash that can be made, but it ismore like a crumbly hash/keef that bubbles.

7) The usual Green leaf box or space case kif (However only when not abused, just the littlest tapping of the product to get the best heads to drop throgh the screen and into the collection plate, no crazy shaking or mad grinding!)

8) Gumby Extraction (Good easy way to go but not enough separation of different quality product.

9) Any other mehtod employed as there are too man y to list ehre.

WEll thats my 2,000 cents.

the best hash i'v tried came frome a music festival in missouri at schwagg stock at CAMP ZOE. those of you that have been there, you know what im talking about. it gave me the best and most intense high i'v ever had.

I have lived in Northern California for the past 25yrs, Traveled all over the US looking for the best of the best. There is only 1 place that I smoked better bud than what is grown here in Nor-Cal that was in Alaska! You can get AMAZING bud in Cali that's a fact. Also all you shit talkers need to take a damn smoke break or move to Cali, buy some bud here then take a smoke break!!

People people we all know where the best buds come from, and we all know where to get the best of the best hash, right?
Well for all of those who don't know it's in the emrald triangle (Humboldt, Trinity, Mendocino, and even Del Norte counties) in northern Cali. East cost or west coast or where ever you are you can get good buds or hash that get you baked!
But here in the emrald triangle there are some of the best of the best! I know people that travel 3000 miles or more to endulge! People fly by plane and then travel by car, boat, private aircraft etc just to take some home with them. Why do people travel so far? These people know they can't get anything better at such good prices! Back east I've personally seen 1 lb go for 10 g's!

That's where the San Fernando Valley cut of OG comes from. It's like the Original only more sat in pheno type. ** sold a cut of the original to a guy in Orange county and that cut is called Larry today. It's still around Orange county. ???? sent one other cut of the original OG to a breeder in Europe. As far as I know he never let anyone else have it. Jerry bred his Chem Dog cut to a Humboldt county indica boy. This was the beginning of his cubing proccess. At BX3 he got a pheno that had all the smell, taste and kick of the Chem Dog, but in a pure indica pheno. Jerry gave this plant to Bob. It became known as the West Coast Dog. Bob bred this plant to my Old World Kush male. He took a male from that cross and bred it to the OG cut Putz had sent him. This is what made the original Bubba Kush. Jerry's cubed version of Chem Dog is what I sell as White Mustang".

I make ice-hash once a week using a blender, 2 brass coffee filters, a few 2 litre pop bottles with the tops cutoff, and about half a Sobeys bag of leaves, trim, and budtrim. Oh, I made oil once out of primo hydro (my buddies small buds that arent sold in BC) with good butane and it turned out pale green and changed from an oil to a solid, almost pure thc. When we smoked it I got so high I thought I fucked up and poisoned us, the solid extract melted with a flame and spread like butter. Everyone sad they had never had anything near it. So use good dry weed, pure and enough butane and you can make something that is very pure, powerful and tasty. But not out of BC bud, it sucks giggle.

If it frose the weed was probably too wet, and when the water was displaced it froze. Also, make sure u use good butane without the sulphur marker that smells like rotten eggs. Oh, and our weed does suck, horrible stuff to smoke, so you may as well stay where you are and not bother coming up here to try it. Giggle.

Take your time. My bubble hash is fantastic. I hydro for myself and the scrap turned to hash is clean and strong. You don't know what your missing.

its not called buitain hash its called honey oil and it took so much to make 2g because you need to use better bud/leaves/stems pretty much anything that contains thc.

Make sure the CO2 pours on to plants because it is heavier than air. This means it build up in rooms on the floor. It can reach deadly leavels in not exchanged ever 15 mins. i CAN NOT TELL YOU PPM of CO2 before levels become hazardous. But if you are in the room , ever 15 mins turn on a fan or blower with duct running in from the outside also a blower to push out CO2 low on the ground. Improvise is money is an issue, remember the CO@ settles on the ground and is heavier than air so it must flow over your plants. CO@ is for hard core growers, maybe try a higher yeild plants like NL and save your money. or use bakingsoda and a drip system using vinigar, in a sealed milk container with a hose running out the top and down over your plants. But only for closet garden!

butaine hash

Tried some butaine oil hash. it was made with a sealed pvc pipe with 1 hole on top and several larger holes on the bottom with a coffee filter installed. Tip , apply seal to prevent gas from leaking out threads. looked like a pipe bomb when complete. The stuff was pretty good, worth smoking for sure, but it takes ten pipes to make 2g. Hope this gives you all an idea. As I provide info that I have seen work when I post. Please avoid smoking while working with butaine. Peace!

Yeah bubble has is okay if you are sitting with a QP of top grade sugar coated bud. Cop 12g of some ultra tan off that trip. Face it hash sucks because of the waste in raw dope. 12g will be gone in two days with a friend who will not leave. Get real ripped but for 10 buch you can get vicodins and achieve the same high. So hash is a lose lose unless you got so much dope you wont worry about running out. For a dope head you got to have a supply.

your plants will use up the co2 fairly quickly, so its best to squirt it into the fan just above your plants cuz co2 is heavier than air. but some sort of ventilation and induction fan should be added to keep your babies growing at their best rate. its up 2 you, but i've lost a few because of not enough good circulation. goodluck

Wow! They sure stopped this one half way through didn't they? lol One must agitate by either stirring with a 3wooden spoon (my preferred method) or even a electric mixer. Thenh allow to setle for about 10 minutes then pulkl the first bag. Allow to settle for several more minutes then pull and rrain the 2nd bag. Scrape up the trichomes and allow to fully dry before using. Follow the previous instructions for the rest of the bags. I run my trim through at least 2 times. Sometimes 3. Enjoy!

Just givin you a hard time, but anyone familiar with the remaining processes should be familiar with the techniques you speak of. If not, well then cool! Someone learned something.

To any and all that will listen: if you want hash->only do bubble hash. It is tried, true, and gives you the most yield without any chemicals or shit.
