Cops Against Prohibition Get Canned

An increasing number of law enforcement personnel are supporting marijuana legalization – and some are paying for it with their jobs. As reported by the Huffington Post, in Mohave County, Arizona, deputy probation officer Joe Miller was fired in December because he added his signature to a letter that supported legalizing, regulating and taxing cannabis and linked prohibition to deadly gang and cartel violence. There were 32 signatures total on the letter sponsored by Law Enforcement …More

Smugglers Catapult Pot Over Border

Smugglers in Mexico got medieval in an attempt to transport pot over the border and into Arizona. While crafty smugglers have used myriad techniques to get their goods into America, including intricate tunnels and low flying aircraft, the method discovered in the town of Naco last week was unlike anything a U.S. Border Patrol spokesman had ever seen.

Forty-five pounds of pot, an SUV and “a metal-framed catapult” were seized by the Mexican military after being tipped-off by …More

Busted at The Border

A 74-year-old woman is now off the streets, allowing all of us to sleep safely tonight. Homenella Cole was busted at the border attempting to enter the U.S. from Canada. Seems Cole had a warrant for her arrest… issued in 1980.

The 29-year-old warrant (for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute) came up during a background check and landed the septuagenarian in custody. Cole will now face the nearly three decades old charge in New York. (upi.com)

Agents in the U.S. Border Patrol's Tucson sector have seized a record 1 million pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $800 million, so far this fiscal year, federal officials said Tuesday.

The seizures during the first 9 1/2 months of fiscal 2009, which began Oct. 1, are the most ever in a single sector of the Border Patrol.
