Mexican Pot Production Diminished By Drought

Killing crops, killing cattle, and also killing cannabis. That’s the effect of northern Mexico’s worst drought in the country’s recorded meteorological history. Take the northwestern Mexican state of Sinaloa, which hugs the coastline of the Gulf of California, and is regarded as a major pot-producing region. An army general stationed in Sinaloa told the AP that the planting of cannabis had “declined considerably” because of the drought, a report …More

Smugglers in Mexico got medieval in an attempt to transport pot over the border and into Arizona. Forty-five pounds of pot, an SUV and “a metal-framed catapult” were seized by the Mexican military after being tipped-off by …More

The final day of the operation - Wednesday - saw the arrest of over 400 people. "Project Deliverance" also netted tons of meth, heroin, and cocaine, along with over $150 million in cash.
Ultralight Aviation Popular Among Mexican Pot Smugglers

According to miamiherald.com, Mexican pot smugglers are increasingly using ultralight aircraft to fly loads of marijuana into the U.S. Pilots don’t land but instead drop the packaged marijuana in remote locations for ground crews to locate.

Despite the dangers of piloting such an aircraft – essentially a glorified hand glider with a small engine and rear propeller – at night without using lights, smugglers along the boarder are reportedly making such flights several …More

94-Year-Old Smuggler Busted at the Border

The elderly are more active today than ever. Case in point, a 94-year-old woman who recently told border agents that she was intending to leave Mexico for the day and venture into Arizona to do a little shopping.

For some reason, the nice nonagenarian (someone in their 90s) aroused the suspicion of authorities and was detained for a closer inspection.

As it turns out, the woman had 101/2 pounds of pot fixed to the lower half of her body (perhaps this is what aroused …More

The 29-year-old warrant (for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute) came up during a background check and landed the septuagenarian in custody. Cole will now face the nearly three decades old charge in New York. (upi.com)
