US House Votes Against Stopping Feds’ Medical Pot Raids

For the sixth time in a decade, the U.S. House of Representatives last week defeated an amendment to an appropriations bill that would have prohibited the federal Dept of Justice from raiding medical marijuana dispensaries in those states with legal medicinal cannabis laws.

The bipartisan amendment was co-sponsored, as it has been each of the six times it’s been introduced, by Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), and this year they were joined by Tom McClintock …More

Colorado Legalize Pot Campaign Runs Mother’s Day Ad

In times past, most people didn’t associate marijuana with the wholesome all-American holiday of Mother’s Day, annually celebrated on the second Sunday in May. But the advocates of Yes on 64, the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, are challenging that notion by running a subtle yet effective TV ad today entitled “Dear Mom.”

In the 30-second spot, a woman in her mid- to late-twenties is seen in a park typing on her laptop, composing a letter to her …More

Drive to Add PTSD, Other Conditions to AZ’s Medical Marijuana Law

Later this month, the Arizona Dept of Health Services will hold a hearing as part of the effort to permit patients suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), migraines, depression, and general anxiety disorder to also legally use medical marijuana.

Prop 203, the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act, legalized the drug after voters approved it in November 2010, but the number of maladies the law allows to be treated with medicinal cannabis is limited.
Connecticut to Legalize Medical Marijuana

The Connecticut Senate effectively legalized medical marijuana in the state by passing House Bill 5389 in the early morning hours Saturday following a 10-hour overtime session described as “passionate” by the Hartford Courant.
Tourist Pot Ban Protested in Southern Netherlands
