Choosing Your Space
The best growrooms begin with a well thought-out plan. Most indoor growers benefit by carefully designing their growrooms and writing their plans down on paper. Maintaining an indoor growroom allows you great influence over how well your plants perform. With the right planning, preparation and execution, you can use your chosen space to harvest your own tasty buds three, four and even five times more often than Earth’s seasonal nature allows.

Marijuana is grown in all kinds of places: perfectly built greenhouses, closets, basements or spare bedrooms. Every place has its advantages and drawbacks, but some simple guidelines should be followed when selecting a space.

1. You don’t want any light to enter or leave the room.
The brightness, and especially the color, of the lamps used can draw your neighbors’ attention. From the plants’ point of view, it’s even more important that no light gets in. The hormones that trigger the process of flowering are initiated by 12 solid hours of darkness. Only if the plants are kept in total darkness for 12 hours per day will these hormones be able to initiate flowering.

yellowing occures for diffrent reasons through the plants life during the veg stage it can happen due to npk issues some plants suffer from sun bleaching at the end of the bloom stage it can also be a flushing of color this is normal better the flush befor harvest the beter the flush color let them go yellow before harvest also taste juce from a snapped leaf stem for bitterness the fresh water taste is what your. much more harvest info if needed guys always shareing info as well as wellnes meds have good yeilds friend appreciate free melungeon magic as well as bomb

Someone please help. I'm new to this whole deal and decided to set up an indoor grow room. I refuse to make traceable purchases on the Internet yet I want success. I have seven standard Reggie plants, 2 24" flouresent 2 standard bulbs and I've built a frame out for the drainage issue. I maintain a humidity of 60% with a daytime temp of 78 and a night time temp of 68 f. The plants are vegatative only about 1 foot tall. The flouresent lights are about 7 inches from the tops and the standards about a foot and a half. I'm still workin on an intake but as of right now have just left a window cracked open for fresh air. I use tap water to feed them and have added 10-10-10 (just a pinch) to each one. Now for my confessions. Up until two days ago I've been smoking cannabis and ciggs in the grow room as it also doubles as my get away room. I also haven't had the window cracked until recently and have been using purified bottled water. I have been using two fans. One high velocity always on pointing up for circulation, and one oscillating on a timer for random wind simulation. My leaves are starting to yellow from the bottoms up. The have dark green spots left but some are completely yellow. The main stalk is thick and fine but the yellow leaves have yellow stems and all. I got these prestarted from my buddy who had them outside. His look fine. What can I do to further the overall success of this room and how do I revive my plants? Like I said the purchasing on the net is out of the question but I'll go to lowes or home depot or something in a heartbeat. I am also setting up a watering system with a resoiver. Please help.

havent really heard about much success with LED, buy a 400 watt hps, the are so advanced now there are no drawbacks. you can get them anywhere(try ebay) for $150 or less brand new with digital ballast and bulb and hood. WELL WORTH YOUR MONEY. i got mine from high tec garden supply(ebay store). well anyway happy harvesting everyone!!

Hey newbies! Here's the fool-proof way to go!

Deep Water Culture!

Here's a setup:

A 2x4 space inside a gorilla rack in a corner of any room. A 16 gal tub is on the floor level shelf, a hydro tank is on a shelf just above the tub. a hole is cut out for the drain tubes. A painted plywood table top with cut outs for 12 3.5" orchid baskets sits over bubble wands and covers the tank. A feed from the bottom tub constantly trickles a flow to the upper hydro "tubbler" tank. The tubbler has another pump to keep things circulating around. The overflow drains into the bottom tub to maintain exact liquid level. Add fans to suit individual room characteristics.

A 400w Metal Halide bulb and Sodium bulb with a switchable ballast is enough to yield 13-19 ozs. of Romulan with such a setup in 3-4 months from infant clones. Trust me.

i think you need a 400W mh light for your plants. you could transplant them in to seperate pots so then you could just move them as needed under your light. and for your cheepest way to grow... i spent about $900 on a full setup and i get some of the best smoke people have ever encountered. so search this site and you will learn all you need to grow

Well, it's been about a week and a half, they are growing about 2 inches a day, can't tell sexing yet. I'm using miracle gro, and it seems to be doing the trick. Ceeg, if your plant is hanging over, make sure it has enough light, and two tie it up against a little stick. Mine did the same thing, so tall and weak.

Also I would go all natural to grow meaning no miracle grow...however if you do use it. Half to 1/4 everything and give the plant a good flush at harvest time. Miracle grow will leave a real harsh taste

As far as a blacklight grow... never tried the budz, but in high school i did an experiment with a 3 month grow on bean plants under blacklight... they turned out with a definate yellowish color, the beans were sweeter tho...

I have grown only one crop, so my experience is limited, but I know this, MIRACLE GROW IS CRAP, AND YOU SHOULDN'T USE IT. Try any of the great products from Botinicare or my personal favorite CNS 17. Over fertilizatoin is easy especially in the flowering stage, once you stress a plant it can take months to heal so do it right the 1at time and get some good nutrient solution

Once you've harvested a plant, its done. You harvest the whole thing at once. Discard the trash, make hash from the leaves, and cure the buds. If youve been given a plant that was already harveted, your fucked, its gonna die.

I'm starting my first few plants to grow, and am going to use the 20-20-20 miracle gro for 2-3 weeks, then switch to the 10-30-10. Is it ok to just continue with that phase, or do I need to add those salts, and other ingredients? I didn't think it needed much more plating material then that..

Smutmaster, place the sprout in a "ready grow plug" made by Botanicare. This will give your plant the perfect compound to start healthy grow roots. Pre mixed soil is for the most part the same no matter what brand it is. I used "Miracle Grow's Moisture Control Potting mix" That soil can be found at a home depo or a walmart. Just be smart about watering your plant. Every now and then it is a good idea to let the soil almost dry up becaust that makes the roots grow to find more water, but dont forget to never fully let it dry up. And for harvisting, it all depends on the strain you are growing. If you 100% for sure what strain you got then you will be able to find answers in the harvisting section of hightimes. If you dont know its going to be a guess and check method thar could range from 8-12 weeks for flowering alone.

I am a new gorwew and I have been using the 6hr light and 12 hr dark for a long time now and my plant started to flower about two weeks ago and I was wondering if it will put my plant in to shock if I switch to 12/12 now. Because that is what I have herd from every one that, that is what I need to do.

Leave the lights on from 18 to 24 hours(vegetative) a day till the plant has at least 3 sets of leaves. The longer you keep the plant in this state the larger it will grow. The marijuana plant can double in size during flowering.

Once you want to start flowering, notice i said "once you want". The flower responde to the light it recieves, you can turn the lights cycle to 12 on 12 off to initiate flowering. In closeing these articles are not grow forums. Please read this carefully. THERE IS A QUESTION AND ANSWER SECTION WITH HUNDREDS OF ARTICLES USE THEM PLEASE. People say u cant grow in windows?in ur home? I planted a unique strain of blueberrycrossed with g1 from seed. i planted the seed watered it,kept it in the dark for 2 days in soil, 4 days after she popped up. its been three weeks and first thier was 1 leaf then 3 then 5 then 3 then 5.shes 1.4 feet(from seed) i planted it in oct.5 its nov now im going to let it grow a bit more then put it in the closet for 12 hrs total darkness every day will i still be able to produce buds even if it yields a joint? i want to bud it when should i? or should I? please let me know.

growing weed is so easy all you need is a good ventaliation system, co2 machine , lights, nutrients, high qualty seeds, good organic soilso you have the rich taste in your weed, decide how big o a room you will need and i recommened a vegetative room along with a flowering room, with the sea of green tech.

I found that useing dirt that wormshave died in works good in the bottom of my pots. (New To Growing) Harvest time is strain dependent. Meaning indica or sativa. A general time is approx. 60 to 80 days. Another good method is to harvest when about 75 to 80 percent of the pistils ( white hairs) have turned amber or reddish brown and trichomes( crystals) have turned milky white under 20x magnification. Soon after this if you do not harvest THC will basicly degrade until completely depleted

you have to research. the book that helped me was the "closet cultavator" by Ed Rosenthal. It tell everything you need to know to start an indoor grow area. Knowledge is key, mixed with a little trail and error.

You will need a PPM meter to measure your nutrient strength so you don’t burn your plants. I recommend the Hanna line of meters the Tri meters will measure PH, PPM, and Temp of the water very nice. Nutrients are measured using ppm or parts per million. Water with a ppm of 200 means that for every million parts about 200 of them are dissolved salts. This is due to the small amount of minerals found in drinking water. Disolved slats are measured using an EC meter or electrical conductivity meter. Salts conduct electricity so the EC meter (NOTE: the tri meter has a built in ppm or EC meter just to be clear here) measures the amount of conductivity in the solution the more conductivity the more salts and thus a higher ppm. Younger plants require a lower ppm than mature plants and the ppm will vary as your plants use more of the nutrient solution and as water evaporates so it is important to check it often. Nutrient burn is common to beginners and is usually noticable by yellow spots on leaves, curled under leaf tips and but not always leaves that have turned entirely yellow. (Note: your leaves on the lower branches may turn yellow during flowering and this is quite normal as the plant is mining chlorophil from the lower leaves to aid in bud production.) however yellow leaves can also be a sign of nutrient difficency.Your plants will talk to you if you watch for the right signs.

THE ROOM

Cover the walls with reflective Mylar and white and black poly plastic tarps found at most hydro supply stores. Lights cost money to run so you want to get the most bang for your buck.

Clean everything from top to bottom then repeat and then repeat. Cleanliness is so important and now is the best time to do it while the room is empty. Clean up spills immediately.

Position all your equipment (i.e. ballasts, pumps, gauges etc.) up high so in the event of a flood you won’t have a potentially DEADLY situation.

You can use any system you like for growing I find a top feed hydroponics system the easiest to maintain and one can be built for under $50.

Most hydroponics consist of a reservoir (Plastic bin from Wal-Mart or where ever), a water pump submersible, an air pump to oxygenate the water (roots need air in the water), and some tubing and irrigation drippers one for each growth site or plant. Fill the reservoir with distilled water with a PH of 5.5 - 5.9 PH up solution or PH down solution can be purchased to adjust the PH (poor mans way "use lemon juice to lower PH and baking powder to raise it) PH is measures on a scale from Acidic to Alkaline the higher the PH the more Alkaline it is and the lower is the more acidic PH pens are available. Cut holes in the lid of the tub and place 5" - 8" mesh pots in the hole "make sure you measure twice and cut once ;)" then fill the pots with sterilized and rinsed hydroton expanded clay pellets or lava rock. Place the submersible pump rated at 185 gph or more for larger systems in side the reservoir. Then run the feed line up out of the tub through a small hole in the lid and run the PVC 1/4" flex tubing from the feed line around the perimeter of the lid and add a T-splitter for each mesh pot. Place a dripper on each T-fitting and steak it into the clay pellets.

IMPORTANT:
Check your breaker box in your home to make sure that you have enough amps on your outlet to run the HID lamps. HIDS especially one more than 400w will draw enough power to overload breakers and cause "FIRES" if not wired correctly. The breakers are allotted amps each will have a number on them usually 15 mine are 20 NICE ;). Also consider the other things that may share the outlets such as a fan usually 0.5 amps and an air pump if hydroponic growing usually another 0.5 amp. The key is to make sure your equipments ampere combined does not exceed that of the outlet it is all plugged into.

TIP: Some electrical appliances will not display the amps. Why I don’t know. Here is a trick to find out the ampere of a unit. Take volts over wattage. Here is a nice site to help you out. http://www.macgen.com/calcul.html has a converter. Also call your power company and find out what they are charging per kilowatt these days. This will give you an idea of how much it will cost to run your lights and everything else.
The formula is watts X hours of use X days of use then divide by 1000 and the result will be the kilowatt usage. In addition you could buy this gadget called "Kill a Watt" http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/7657 that measures kilowatt usage and is programmable so you can enter your cost per kilowatt and even forecast next months bill, monitor your usage and more.

I recommend ready set grow from HT magazine if your in the dark about building an indoor garden. They teach you everything from seed to clone.

Your best bet is two build two rooms one for vegetative growth and the other for flowering. Divide the space into two sections and ensure no light will enter into your flowering room from the veg room.

Lighting

If money is not an object I recommend a 400w Metal Halide for the veg room

Also you will need at least a 400w HPS (High Pressure Sodium) Lamp. "HORTILUX" is best.

Buy both with ballasts and hoods and get the packaged deal.

If you can’t afford both lights get an HPS because you will need it for flowering but it can be used for veging also.

Put the plants in pots with holes in bottom - 2-3 Gallon.
Buy Dirt from wall mart - $3.00 BAgs of Soil - Orange & Yellow
or Miracle Grow - with 3 month feed.
- Put soil in bottom of bucket --- pat it down - squeeze sides of CUP the plant is in
tip it sideways & pull it out -- Set it int the bucket - on Dirt - Fill in Dirt around it
then -- more -- then pat down sum more - push it in there.. yup.
Now water it & leave it under the light for 18 hours a day. Get a plastic timer in the bathroom section of wallmart,.... Red & Green pins -- then set it --
YOur lights will turn on every day automatically..
Now you are good -- Just start with 400W metal Halide - that is the best spectum
for VEGing plants -- Once the plants are bigger - We will clone them -- then make more plants for your grow room --
OK -- soo - dont overwater -- Give food 5 days out of 7 --
FEEDING :
Mix 3ml Green ------ 2ml red ---- 2ml --- pink
-----3ml Dyna gro ----
ALL IN 1 1gallon JUG with BATHTUB WATER -- PUT THAT IN WATERING CAN & WATER THE PLANTS IN ROWS -- then Get your SPRAY BOTTLE with 1ml DYNA GRO (no Gen Hydro Nutes in the spray) & WASH THE LEAFS OFF -- NICE CHUNKY SPRAY of WATER...DynA GRO CAN BE USED AS FoliaR SPRAY...

Not much to know about trimming. Gey a decent set(spend the 10 bucks cheap ass) of scissors, or better yet, some micro pruners made for plant pruning(mine are gardena, a decent gardening brand that has a spring so they return, fine sharp blades). Clip off all leaves at the stem, petioles(leaf stalk) are woody and nasty. Cure in a well ventilated area until stems break when bent over. Bag and store in freezer to retain flavor and yumminess.Giggle

thank god for horticulture degrees and the OMMP- Oregon medical marijuana program. seeds DONT hatch they germinate and think of a clone machine producing roots for the undifferinciated cell matter(callous)the paper towel initiates root hairs from the radicle-plumel but only for a short window before they need nutrients--your leaving them in the paper towel to long- warm moist soil gives them the best chance- keep top of soil mostly dry to deter damping off- but keep soil fairly moist and do not let dry out_ spray bottle works best to keep soil microbe population active so they enable the plant to use nutrients through imobilazation/mineralazation

Veg vs. Bud is dependant on light spectrum not what the bulb is made with. Read up on which colors are best for either veg or bloom and buy your bulbs accordingly. Just ensure that if your ballasts are HPS you buy HPS bulbs and so on. Personally I like SunMaster bulbs for Veg and Hortilux bulbs for bloom. 1000 W HPS.

hey every body , i've been thinking about growing for along time and i just decided too. Im staring with 4 clones 2 weeks old and there female, i will buy them in 2 days. i need to know wat is the absolute cheepest way to grow in my 3 by 3 by 8 closet. any help i would be very greatful thx every one

Hey, stoner4life, I always give my seeds a good soak for a couple of days in a coffee cup with just enough water to keep them wet and floating until they sprout. That way they stay in water and you don't have to worry about them curling up because they are moist. Some times if they start to curl up then they've been on the paper towel to long.

wats up yall, ive been growin for 2years now and Ive got most of it down packed i was just wondering if anyone knew some good ways to hatch the seeds. I put them in a wet paper towel but the roots always kinda curl up and make the plant struggle the first couple days. Any help?

You can tell when a plant is mature enough to flower by alternating internodes(where the branches meet the main stem)A inmature plant has internodes that grow straight across from each other. When mature they begin to alternate from one branch to another. There are hundreds of pictures on the nternet showing the parts of a cannabis plant. Use a proxie server to allow yourself to remain as annonmous as possible on the internet

hooterman nice name, your plants will dubble in size from the time you start flowering till harvest, so make shure you have enuff room. The females will have little white hairs at the base of the leaves and the males will have little yellow pollin sacks. Make shure you pick the males befor they open or you'll have a bunch of seeds. PEACE!

air flow is also very important, with bad air circulation you will be fighting fungi and mold.....
speaking from experiance...spend the bucks on inline fans and carbon filters

Ok, said what I needed on that! Now, something serious. I'm a first time grower with only a few plants. they are doing great. Growing at a rate of about 1/2 to 3/4 in. a day. Right at 2 ft. tall. still in veggie state. and are being grown indoors. My question is, how to tell the best time to start the flowering process? also, Does anyone know where to find a diagram of a plant. to tell all the diferent parts of my Babies. Thanks for any info!
