Elevated Double Potting
For many years, I have taught my simple organic method of indoor growing at overgrow.com as BushyOldGrower. “BOG” is also short for “Bonanza of Green,” which is my simple two-room system.

My method of Elevated Double Potting evolved from an accidental discovery. In order to raise a shorter plant up into the usable light, I used a second, older pot. The plant rooted down into the soil of the old but larger pot, and the result was a very nice-yielding bush. When harvested, I noticed that both pots were fastened securely together by the roots.

Incorporating this principle, I started by cutting out the bottoms of 2-gallon pots, then placing them on the surface of another, larger pot of dirt. This is what I call “Elevated Double Potting.” Cutting the bottoms from pots is wasteful, however, and the best method doesn’t require it. Simply remove the rootbound plant from its pot and place it on top of new soil in a bigger container. This method isn’t rocket science but simply involves any number of transplants, with each being partially elevated.

Timing Transplantation
Often growers prefer less transplanting, but a few principles should be understood. If you just plant a seed in a large pot, it takes a long time to root and eventually grow. That plant will most likely still end up rootbound by the time it has flowered. Generally, rootbound plants will slow in their growth. This is true during the vegetative stage as well as the first half of flowering.

A last transplant in late veg or early flowering will do a lot to improve yields. Health and vigor are more easily maintained with well-timed transplants. This will return more in yields than careful feeding or pH control. Often, the reason a flowering plant’s leaves yellow too early is due to sickly roots. Plants in pots hate it when they can’t spread out.

drgrnbd, you are wrong to, when u get a male flower on a female plant, remove it and place it in a baggie and put it in a cool place(icebox will do) you can use the pollen to prduce female seeds, by taking a female limb and placing it on the limb,tape it on to make sure the pollen gets onto the female pistils, after afew days remove the bag.. most if not all seeds will be feminized...peace and good bud to all

I would like to say that Bog and I have spoken a few times and I have grown out his Sour Bubble Bx3 I have Lifesaver available and just germed Sweet cindy 99.. All I can say is that personally he is a great dude and as far as the Sour Bubble, It was the best plant I have grown!!! Blew my Greenhouse White Widow away. He is compassionate to med users and is helping out at WWW Meduser.ca where he has seeds available to purchase!!! I am a member there and was so happy he decided to become a part of a kewl community..

your right drgrnbud, research is needed to look smart, half of all these post are just plain wrong, maybe if they know they are right about a topic they could reply. But stress to cause female seeds will cause hermies that are prone to the same stress as they were created. Its better to use STS as an ethylene inhibitor to cause male flowers. But there is still a chance at getting males which is rare but ive experienced it, but no hermies. DRGRNBUD, you are badly mistaken, you cannot, repeat CANNOT create seeds without pollen....by stessing your plants, you are creating hermaphrodites that are pollinating themselves whether you realize it or not...you are correct however that you will have "feminized" seeds as a result, although feminized with slight hermaphroditic tendencies

The best chance at getting all female seeds is to take a female plant and cause it stress. Causing a female stress produces seeds without pollen. Using pollen to produce seeds gives you about a 10-20% at getting a seed that will produce female plants. Remove all herms, unless you are in much need os smoke. Seedy bud is sometimes better than no bud. I would advise that if you discover a herm that you move it away from any determined females, since the herms will cause females to turn male. Herm seeds will more than likey produce herm plants. If you have a friend that has a determined female, ask for a clone or two and then grow them till the are large enough to take more clones. take one or two of these female clones, grow them, stress them, and they will seed. The seed should produce all female plants.
