GANJI'S GROW JOURNAL -- Day 222
Mon, Dec 08, 2003 12:00 am
Not much to say this week. The transplants are all doing excellent. The seedlings have taken off in the larger buckets and new sprouts are coming up daily. The clones are starting to grow faster every day now but they’re starting to flower just like the other ones did before going into the flowering chamber. The three older plants in the flowering chamber are still showing signs of over-fertilization so I flushed them again this week. The other three appear to be starting off okay, but I’m watching them closely. Been watching conditions in the chamber also. Temp is up a little but staying below 85 degrees. Humidity is excellent, right around 50%. The light is two feet away and there’s a constant gentle breeze on the plants at all times. The problem is either in the clones themselves or the soil mix or both. Either way, it’ll be hard going for a while.
Ganji’s still struggling to recover what he can from the maladapted clones and seems to be turning things around with some new seedlings. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from his cloning experiences and will have a better time of it in the future. For now, he’ll have to go through the process of sexing the new plants and removing males. This is where the perpetual harvest technique will be very useful. Since there’s more room in the garden with plants being in different phases of flowering, he can put more seedlings in at each rotation and weed out the males as they appear. Still it’s a lot of extra planting and wasted soil mix on unwanted plants and he’ll probably want to get back to cloning as soon as possible which may require some new seed stock. --MAX
