GANJI'S GROW JOURNAL -- Day 243

Wed, Dec 10, 2003 2:59 pm

Went ahead and harvested the three Sweet Tooth plants. Took only the best buds at the tops of the branches and left most of the bottoms untouched. Not much there to take. I’m just going to throw it all in with the drying leaf and screen it. Also pulled the one Sweet Tooth plant in the next group. It was browning and growing poorly just like it’s older sisters. Nothing left in the temple now but healthy NL#9 clones and Sweet Tooth plants from seed. With that harvest, it appears that Ganji has weathered the storm and come through it okay. It’s a small harvest, but he’s making the most of it by not wasting anything. He doesn’t want to take the time to trim and manicure the underdeveloped buds, so he’s just going to add them to the leaf and screen off what he can. --MAX

Sexed the last of the 5 Sweet Tooth plants I put in the flowering room a couple weeks ago. She was a girl as I thought. Transplanted it and ended up with four females and only the one male. They have all shot up to nearly four feet tall and are flowering away. Had to move the light up.

You’ll recall that Ganji didn’t top these ones at all and they’ve now grown into sizable plants. --MAX

Moved the five NL#9 clones that were ready into the flowering room, and put them up on buckets to help even out the garden profile. Several seedlings and a few left over NL#9 clones will need transplanting soon and the 5 seeds I planted are up and growing. The flowering chamber is again full of healthy plants and the vegetating chamber is producing more than enough replacements in all different stages of growth. In fact, I now seem to have more than I need and will have to juggle things for a while until I get the propagation and flowering schedules synchronized. It’s either feast or famine it seems.

Fortunately, when Ganji set up the flowering room, he mounted the light to be moveable so the size of the Sweet Tooth plants isn’t causing too many problems. He just has to prop some of the smaller plants up on buckets to keep them close to the light. This is a key component to the perpetual harvest. Since you’ll always have plants in different stages of flowering, you need to prop up the smaller ones to keep them as close to the light as possible. He’s doing the same thing in the vegetating chamber as well. --MAX
