NORMLIZER
How to Overgrow the Government
Mon, Nov 27, 2006 1:35 pm
My, how things have changed! Today, because of the abject failure of marijuana prohibition in our free-market-oriented democracy, over 50 percent of the marijuana consumed in America is domestically cultivated, and 90 percent of the hash is produced in North America. So just how large has America’s domestic cannabis crop grown? According to a NORML Foundation report, marijuana ranks as a top-five cash crop nationally and as the No. 1 cash crop in 20 or more states most years.
Wondering where to grow your next stash?
According to the latest domestic marijuana - cultivation report from the DEA, the top five states for marijuana eradication in 2005 were California (1.9 million plants), Kentucky (507,000), Tennessee (440,000), Hawaii (251,000) and Washington (103,000). The states with the lowest incidence of plant eradication: South Dakota (0), Rhode Island (79), North Dakota (120), Delaware (182) and Utah (310).
Here’s another rich and ironic factoid about one of America’s most valuable (though not yet taxed) commodities: Despite the tens of billions of American taxpayer dollars wasted looking for relatively harmless vegetation to destroy, of the 223 million marijuana plants eradicated in 2005, over 98 percent was ditchweed—i.e., feral hemp left over from the World War II-era federally subsidized “Hemp for Victory” campaign in the Midwest. Almost every other country in the world, including Canada, allows farmers to grow industrial hemp and prosper from its cultivation, but unfortunately, here in Reefer Madness Land, our government annually whacks, stacks and incinerates hundreds of millions of otherwise-valuable hemp plants, passing them off to a gullible and lazy media as the dreaded “demon weed.”
Allen St. Pierre is the executive director of NORML, 888-67-NORML.

1 in 34 adults in the usa are in prision. 49% are nonviolent drug offenders. thats big business. big business owns this country. they do not give a shit about you. havent u figured that out yet?
why hire American?
Dec 19 2006, 1:40 am
Hire americans? are u
NUTS!!!! I actually want to get the job done. What kind of a sick joke is that. Most americans are too damn fat and lazy eating cheeseburgers and buying lindsay lohan cds that they NEVER get shit done. How dumb are Americans too? seriously??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Case in point,
1) America spends more than any other country in the world on education and we rank not even in the top 10 in education.
2) Americans elected George w. Bush TWICE!!!!! and stood idly by as Bush LIED and America marched to war for BIG BUSINESS. Plus stood idly by when we tried to elect out of the geneva convention banning TORTURE! Americans sat on the couch watching American Idol when All the supposed freedoms were stripped away. Americans are NOT FREE anymore, not even close.
SO, of COURSE I'd hire mexicans or migrant workers. Please who WANT to work, who work HARD, who risked everything to get here and are soooo thankful to be here.
Beside, do YOU want pickup the trash? Do YOU want to be a landscapper , a house builder, a dishwasher, an slaughter house worker? Of course YOU wouldnt. These people would and do , kiss our ass for these jobs. And they do a GREAT job. They take jobs away from NO ONE! It's American, get off your ass and work, you can literally do anything ..(except be free)
Wasnt American the country that said " Take Down that Wall" now they chant "Put up that Wall"
I'm ashamed to be American

outsourcing herb to mexico????
How fucking dumb are you? seriously?!!!!
The whole point of this artical is to showcase the INsourcing of Herb in this country. Less herb imported means..more money in the american growers pockets.
so youre pissed about illegals, good for you.
By the way? Who is going to do all those service industry jobs in this country that nobody wants? No mexicans and this country would shut down..period.
Who would hire lazy americans when you can hire who actually WORK for a living. but thats not the point. U dont like illegals , enjoy it, thats fine. But to say that herb growing is getting outsourced is quite possible the dumbest comment I've heard in a while...right next to....stay the course.
