Busted Letter #107 – Nowhere to Smoke

I've lived in California my whole life and never had to deal with authority figures about my illegal habit. I also just recently got my medical license. In August of 2006, I moved to Arizona for school. Arizona is a lot different than California, especially with weed laws. Even having paraphernalia on you is a felony.

Anyway, so keeping that in mind, two of my friends and I decide to drive somewhere and smoke. After being caught three times in the dorms, I decided that was not a very good idea anymore. So we're driving in my friend’s car, hot boxing it with my mini-bong that my mom had just brought to me from Cali two days prior.

We go up to this spot called Mars Hill, one of those places you can park and look down at the whole city. So we get finished with one bowl and I start to pack another. Just then a couple of friendly officers roll up with those bright white lights on the top of the car all lit up. We are screwed.

The whole car is filled with smoke and we're just sitting there, wondering if this really happening?

So, the cop comes up to the driver side window and asks the driver to roll it down. He does, and as the smoke flows out the window directly in to the cop’s face, he says, "You guys have any alcohol tonight?" What?

So, still not mentioning the weed, he proceeds to ask if he can search each of us for any weapons. I was hiding the bong in my jacket. The cops pull us out one by one and search us for "weapons." When they got to me, I would move the bong around in my jacket so wherever he patted it wasn’t there. Needless to say, he noticed what I was doing and I finally just handed it over.

They then ask the driver if they can search the car. They found 6.5 grams in the driver's area, 1.5 and a pipe in mine, and 6 in the back seat. The cops then informed us that Mars Hill closed at 11:00pm when we were there around 2:30am.

We all get cuffed, thrown in the car, and taken to jail.

After being strip-searched and staying the night in those tiny ass holding cells, we have court the next morning. The good thing is that even though it's AZ, your first two drug charges are misdemeanors. So all of us are charged with two counts of possession. They didn’t determine whose bong it was but they counted the bong and the pull-stem separately!

Both of my friends were released, but I was given $1500 bail for the extra pipe on me. Just last week I was sentenced to four months of unsupervised probation, a $1,378 fine, and an eight-hour "Dangers of Drugs" class. How is it medicine in one state and a misdemeanor or worse in the next???

hey umm i was pulled over in arizona and you said in your story that the first two drugs charges in AZ are misdomeaners i got a felony for a grinder and i had never been charged with anything in arizona do you think i got screwed

After reading a few stories, all I can say is wow, good jobs trying to exersize your rights*sarcasm*. You guys, several of you, practicly hand it over. You stay silent, refuse a search, watch for cop mistakes(a formality can save you), and make sure they have a warrent and a reasonable excuse to search. Don't bend over and take it, they cant make it much worse, so why let them fuck you easy?

i read your story and it truly moved me. i know where you are coming from in the sense that i was busted in a similar way when i was a lot younger and unwise. just learn from this, keep smoking...and get back to cali, where your safe.

yeah the cops shoudnt be able to search your apartment without a warning but i was at my buddys apartment and his mom and the neighbor were friends and they got into a fight so the neighbors called the cops on us for smoking weed and the cops showed up with no warrent and checked the hole apartment. but luckily we relized the cops were coming up so we hid everything and sprayed but there was a falls kit he didnt see and a few stems in the ashtray but the cops didnt do anything they just said we could all be brought to jail, but not this time.... its bullshit they checked the apartment with no warrent

Balcony, next time the cops do that... tell them to come back with a search warrant, no cop is going to go to a judge at 2 A.M. to get a search warrant because some asshole with a sensitive nose can't keep their trap shut and if a cop does do that they won't be a cop for long. ;)

last night at about 2 in the morning i was having my bedtime blunt on my balcony. i heard some noise on the balcny above me, so i looked up, and to my great surprise a flashlight shined down on me. after that a guy yelled down " throw your shit, 5-0 are on their way downthere right now". i had no idea what was happeneing, but i threw my blunt into the woods, and ran into my room to get rid of my weed, scale, grinder and 50 2gram baggies. but before i could do that, my front door was being beaten down. i said fuck it and answered the door. there were two cops, and they said they had a call about a complaint of marijuana smoke floating to a balcny above me, butthey had already gone to three other apartments looking for where it was coming from. they put me in handcuffs and searched me, without reading any rights or any of that. they then asked where my room was, and asked f i had anything else in my room. i said no, because i wasnt going to tell them i had a scale and 50 tiny baggies in my room. i said if i had anything at all, it would be n my closet, because all my shit wasnt anywhere near my closet. so they found 4 empty ziploc bags, and half of a straw with no residue. needless to say, there was nothing they could do. but did they have a right to come in my house? or to search my room? thats what i am wondering? its sad that you cant even smoke in the privacy of your own home, even if its just to help you fall asleep.

I was reading through these letters, and was just waiting for one to be about AZ. Like yourself, I too have been born and raised in Orange County Cali. Weed here is almost always a slap on the wrist. max penalty for a O or less is 100 ticket. U honeslty have to be a fckin idiot to be arrested for bud in Cali.
I was in AZ for a Hockey tournament, and of course all the cali kids brought their weed and peices. lol. On the way home i took two of the guys with me, and we stopped about 30 miles outside the cali boarder. one of my idiot friends (who has money) steals a fuckin soda and gets caught. 1 cop comes and he says he smells marijuana on him. we all deny it and try to just get the hell out of there. he takes my buddy to jail for theft, and calls a K9 and two drug dectectives to handle us. My car is turned upside down. Hockey gear spread out everywhere. They end up finding a bong, two bubblers, and about 2 grams (thank God they missed the 2 grams in my driver side compartment in a napkin.lol)about an hour later, they check our records and luckily me and my buddy didnt have one. They take our info, and say we mite get a call. The K9 talked to me 1 on 1 cause it was my car, and asked me if we were high. (YES) but i tell him no and we did it the night before. he said he relized we were used to Cali laws and for him, 2 grams and a few peices was small potatoes. We get let go with nothing. obviously the weed and pipes get taken but no charges. AZ is strict as FUCK. The shtty part of the story, is when the cops went back to the station to talk to our friend abhout stealing. they pin the weed on him. i felt bad for about 30 secs than relized we wouldnt even be here if he woulda pulled out a fckin dollar to buy a soda.

my friends and I pulled into a parking lot to roll a blunt as we usually do and we usually have a bag handy to put the guts in but this time we didnt. So my friend who was the driver just dumps the guts out the window and rolls the blunt. we pull out of the parking lot and light it up, with in 3 minutes there was a white bmw behind us followed by a cop, but we figured to be safe we would turn down the next road. we turn and so do the two cars behind us and the cop pulls us over so we tell the kid in the back to eat it and he did. A detective come to the window and asks us where the weed is and we tell him we got rid of it. he doesnt believe us since he didnt see us throw it. Finally we tell him that the kid in the back ate it, and still in disbelive he makes the kid get out of the car, searches him, and he opens his mouth to show the cops he ate it...they all just stood there and were saying wow, you ate a cigar?! The cops talked to us and admired the two bowls we had while the dt ripped apart the car. all they found was parifinala and ended up letting us go and smashing the bowls.

Luckily this went our way and we got off with a warning. But a word of advice, be aware of your surroundings. The dt told us he saw us dump the guts out the window in the parking lot and followed us. And were also lucky the cops wernt too sharp, we had 2 grinders in the center council that they didnt not find.

I got totally Narked and it was not pretty. I live on college and cops crawl. I went to a party and came home..had a smoke out hang for a moment, then BANG BANG three pigs came and got my ass. I had to pay 1,000 fine and went to jail for 4 days, Bummer!!!! Still doing comm. service.

Rules for smoking and driving
1-never bring more than you can eat quickly.
2-Roll Joints, easy to store,easy to lite, compact for quick disposle.
3-never smoke sitting still,
always keep moving and dont hot box, it does not get you higher!, just gives you away to the cops.
4-If you have to drive with more than you can eat, dont be smokin, just wait till you get home.
5-In event of getting pulled over, hopefully you kept rule 1 and 2 in mind, then you can eat your stash and pull over, remember-as long as your not driving crazy or speeding away, you could take ten minutes to pull over, and by then no more problems,just a full belly, play stupid and dont puke it up till the cop leaves!

To last comment... simply not true. If a cop ask to pat you down for weapons and you consent and he feels an obejct that he immediately recognizes and believes to be illegal contraband, then he is allowed to remove the item from your pockets to see if it is illegal contraband. It is called the plain feel doctrine.

If a cop asks to search you for WEAPONS he can only charge you for any weapons he might find. Any other illegal items that he finds during his search for weapons are not admissable in court because they are an unwarrented search. He only had permission to look for weapons and nothing else.

You basicly incriminated yourself. By giving him the pipe you put yourself in jail!

here's the deal guys, people need to smarten up, it's not the polices fault they do their jobs, i'd rather live in a world where the cops are protecting then not. but it's are job to smarten up and legalize the shit, but everytime we take a step foward. sombody fucks up. If your gonna smoke do it smartly,( that means not driven, smoking around kids or schools or selling to peoples under 18) so as not to get caught, and act in a manner that dosen't give us a bad name. And for christ sake FUCKING VOTE AND GET OTHERS TO DO SO TO!!!!!

what's up everybody?Nothing much here.work is keeping me real busy since more than half of my paycheck is bases on commissions. I have to hustle everyday.
Tell ya'll something I found out.If you smoke in the form of rolled smoke it can leave nasty brown spots on your finger tips.SOLUTION? just add bleach to some water in the sink and wash a few pots and pans. The stain will disappear.Just a couple cap fulls.

I learned this from a friend,after I caught my boss staring at my thumb and index finger.I had tried everything to get it off.Nothing worked.
A friend of my who always adds bleach to her dish water said it kept hers off.

What's this shit about we can't go to Canada now for having very minor things on our record.

It's me if your out there.Give me some heads up on this matter.This is the first I have heard of this and was planning on going to Canada this year.My record is not completly clean.Any info is appriciated.

About your computer question, I am far from computer savy, but I have a new mac and I recently learned that macs are not exposed to viruses etc. Most people operate on windows so almost all of the viruses and shit out there is made to invade that program. I think that 'tor' program just hides your tracks or keeps your system annonymous or something like that, I don't know if it helps with virus protection or keeping your computer quick. In closing, they are pricy but I suggest getting a mac, it seems to avoid almost all of the problems that effect most every other systems. OK, I'm gonna get small now! late

I'm glad to hear the trip was a success XXX. Sorry that your wife got sick though. That tends to be the one shitty side effect of traveling. Different strains of colds/flu etc. than we have here on the east coast, you know. I always take echinechia pills for the weeks before I travel and some airborne the day I leave and get where I'm going. It seems to help me. Anyways, I'm sure it's nice to be home with some green in your lungs! A few day break is always nice; you get that great reminder of why we enjoy smoking when you toke up after a break! late

Happy late birthday Nor-Cal.what's up wh,it's me,river,dakine.

Well my trip in vegas was a blast,but wat to short to get everything in.I only did a few slots,paid out the nose for cabs,and went to The Stratisopher.
Really incrediable to go up 1100ft and be able to see all of vegas.

Didn't score any smoke,but wish I could have.It was for sure different than anything I have ever smelt.The people smoking was all black girls and I tried to speak and be freindly,but they mostly acted as if they didn't want to carry on a conversation,so I was not able to ask them about scoring some.Would have loved to have had a bit of it though.
Over all the trip scored a 8 out of a possiable 10.My wife winded up going,but was sick the whole time with broncial flare up.We will have to go back one day to fulfill the things we couldn't do this time.
Listened to some really cool bands and had some sights and smell that were foriegn to me.Flight was a first and a pleasure.Now me and my wife never want to drive again,we would rather fly.

BUT those mohterfuckers were Fukin Cops and kicked one of my friend tellin him gazadi.... they showed us the ID and got busted....
Good thing is there is no strict punishments or laws for marijuna...
we stayed in the custudy for a night and released early in the mornin on 2nd jan....
this was how my year got started......

I think I did the right thing ,because a guy called me about my tickets and I told him they were sold and he might could pick them up at Thomas and Mack center( said he couldn't even get close to there cause there was so........many people there and even told me that,even though he would have loved to have had my tickets,I did the right thing to sell them,because it is such a MAD HOUSE here.

We are trying to go out to some places,but TAXIES are not coming,it is truly alwful...

The traffic is the worse I have ver seen...

Hey guys.We were on first class airline here and got $1000.00 spending money.
I also had two tickets to the NBA All-Star game and sold them for a thousand dollars.Which wasm probably a mistake,because my taxie driver told me people were selling them for $3000.00 per ticket,I had two tickets.

But it is so crowded here and it is hard to even get a taxie and after 24 hours of trying to sell them I decided to let them go cheap.
I didn't have anything invested anyway and was worried about going to jail for scalping if I pushed the envelope.

OK SO CALL ME CHICKEN SHIT...

But anyway I mdon't give a rats ass about basketball and it's a $1000.00 I didn't have to start with.

I'm going to try to get a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam if I have time...

Vegas is really super busy right now.I was going to try to sell the tickets last night at Mandalay Bay,but could never get a taxie(waited over two hours.

That's why I sold the tickets so cheap.

88mm, as for the comment about graphing your life trajectory, I think that you would find our life span is quite different from matheatics in that sense. In math you can follow a particular trajectory with calculated precision; while in life you cannot graph ANYTHING until it has come to pass. Unless you can see the future, taking time to analyze your decisions (right or wrong) and then tailoring them to your liking, your graph would only work in hindsight. Maybe if you had never sat on the couch and smoked a bowl that day (pick any one), then you may have been walking down the street and been killed somehow. You just don't know that, nobody can. I could say that jogging every mornng got me into shape or I could look at it from a base level, realizing that it wasn't the jogging that got me into shape, but rather my chioce to jog that got me there. Do you understand what i'm saying? It wasn't the pot, it was YOU! late

88mm, those were mistakes that you made in your lifetime. Just because they were mistakes in your life does not mean that the same decisions won't benefit somebody else. You are fighting a futile battle with this train of thought. You aren't going to save any of us, I can promise you that. I think that I speak for all of the regulars here when I say that the choices we have made benefit us as people, family providers, and social activists. You aren't trying to help us, you are trying to change us. There is a phenomenal difference between the two. If you want to 'save' anybody you should become active in the D.A.R.E. program at your local grade school. That is not meant as a knock either, just some sound advise. I'm truly sorry that your decisions in life have led you to this point. I'm losing sympathy for you though because even with this basic knowledge right in front of your eyes you still choose to use your energy trying to change people that don't want changing. I do understand, all too well. You are becoming more narrow-minded the more that you speak on this matter though. Don't you think that the people that want to legalize marijuana have thought about it and do think that it is best for them as well as the rest of the nation? Granted there will be people on both sides who have never tried it or have never quit for a period of time and still think that they know best. Education/knowledge is key no matter which side of the line you stand on. I see that you look back somewhat in disgust on your decade of smoking, citing that it caused you to end up somewhere in life that you don't want to be. Maybe if you CHOSE to be more educated about the decisions that you made in that period of your life you wouldn't have such views. My point is this; you CHOSE to place the blame for faults recognized in your life plan on being stoned for a decade. You are right, pot impacts everyones life to various degrees. You seem to have taken a weird stance on the impact it had on you. Either way, no matter the stance, you need to realize that people don't want to be responsible for their bad decisions, especially in the U.S. I think if you owned up to yourself you would feel better and maybe go easier on the rest of us that CHOOSE to make marijuana a part of our daily lives. My energy is quite well invested between work, family, friends, and sharing knowledge with anyone that I can. In closing I would like to say that you use the word sobriety a little to loosely. Find me anybody in this country that is truly sober and I'll quit smoking. I do enjoy a good debate so please stay in touch. late

You have to understand, I have smoked out...for almost a decade (3-7 times per day)! I know exactly what it is like to be high 24/7. Please consider my viewpoint as a fellow smoker. I'm one of you!!! Amsterdam is my favorite place on the face of this earth.

All I am saying is that marijuana impacts people differently, but in the end, we all pay a price for our choices.

Everyone seems to be so interested in getting it legalized, but no one ever seems to be able to step back and ask "Is this what's best for me?".

I am about as far to the left as you can get without being radical.

Would I like to see Marijuana legalized in the U.S.? You bet! I was planning on moving to Nevada if their state laws changed.

However, When I look back on my decade or so of use, it is clear to me that the choices I made, and the decisions that were made for me have not put me where I want to be today.

Take that energy and invest it in something else. Sobriety is a powerful tool that can help you accomplish your goals.

I have said it once and I will say it again, just because a few stoners can't spell or don't have the grammar skills that others may posess does not mean all stoners are burn outs. I know plenty of stoners who are very well educated in many different areas. Think of all the social activists from the Vietnam era. They are all very intelligent and involved and guess what most of them were or are STONERS. What I can't seem to understand is why you would bother to associate yourself with people who you would consider dumb or stupid or uneducated. Like Da Kine said if this is the way you make yourself feel better than you truly are pathetic. Maybe if you decided to quit being so opionated about this subject and educated yourself a little more you might find there are more uses for marijuana than just recreation. Maybe you should look into the blind study they just completed in San Francisco among HIV patients and foot pain. Go ahead learn something and then come back to this site when you are ready to open your mind and learn some more.

If another Bush is ever elected I will recind my citizenship and move to Holland. Period. I have had many heated arguments about my stance that no one family name should be allowed to hold the presidency more than once within a given period of time. I am just suprised that Jeb Bush hasn't tried to run but, like my husband said, It would be hard to get America to vote for a 3rd Bush for President. I didn't vote for Bush Jr., and most of us didn't and that still didn't change the outcome. Mostly because they had friends in high places, just like you said Da Kine. Another downside is that everybody running for president will undoubtedly use the war and the voters opinion of the war to win favor in their party as well as opposing parties. I think that as important as it is to get out of Iraq, we need to look past that when voting for a new president. Don't just vote for the candidate that you think will get us out of Iraq because every person running will comit to that as the foundation for their candidacy. Make your vote count. I just saw a video clip of a commercal made by those fuck asses in Kansas about how IED's used over in Iraq on our troops are a godsend. I don't support the war in any way but these people go to funerals of fallen troops and have the audacity to protest and verbally bash the mourning families and their fallen children, fathers, and mothers. This guy said everything except thank you to the people responible. It was enough to turn my stomach. Too early in the morning for that kind of verbal diarrhea. I am a legalized smoker in WA state. I have this digestive thing, and have dificutly keeping food down. Let's see I am legal, need the weed, but cannot smoke in public, in hotels, my car, rest stops...basically anywhere there may be "public concern". If caught, I risk being made an "example of", and anyone who has stockpiled me is at risk. Before I was legal, I smoked, where I wanted, and when I wanted and really didn't need to be concerned who stock me. HMMMMM now which is better?

Enjoy brother! You'll have a blast no matter what you do. I've been there a few times but it was like ten years ago and I was only eighteen. I still had a blast and you will too, no doubt. Good advise from river runner about finding green. I've worked in restaurants my whole life and you can ALWAYS find some from a server or a cook. You can easily pick out the herb lovers, and if they dont smoke, their buddy does. Congrats man you're luckier than I. Have fun XXX. late

No warrants.That I know of.

I am sure this is legit though,because I picked up the entry at a Kroger grocery store and mailed it in.When they called today,they represented themselves as the company (Anhisher Bush)The entry form was in the beer section of the grocery with the Budweiser Brand beer.
Not only that,but thier area code was foriegn to me ( It had to be from another state)

And I have only been arrested once on a mistermeaner DWI charge that I paid all my fines and did one year probation for.

And the only people that have my cell # are those close to me.I didn't even have a cell when I was arrested and the cops got my mother's home phone # for a number.

I don't think the cops would know that I entered this contest anyway,because I mailed it to Missouri a very long way from where I live.

I do appreciate your concerns though.
They haven't told me which airport I will be flying from,just that it will be from my state.
I get the paper work soon and I will keep you'll posted.
I have to fill out some consent forms,saying that I agree to the trip and stuff.
I will be sure to read all the fine print carefully.

XXX, Have you already claimed the prize? Do you have any active warrants out for your arrest? I am wandering because I am leary of winning things because sometimes the cops like to trick people by telling them they won something and then when you go to pick it up the arrest you for a warrant you may have out for your arrest. If you don't have any warrants than CONGRATULATIONS AND HAVE A BLAST. I have never been there either so I don't know what there is to do but, I am sure you will find something.

I take that back you wont be that close to the Grand Canyon....Kinda close like 5 or 6 hours away, you will be close to lake mead recreation area if you like the outdoors and exploreing.other than that Gambling and Sex is what people want when they go to vegas, oooh yeah allmost forgot cheap buffets with lotts of food.

Well first of all you are dealing with humans and no one is perfect and some people will always abuse anything that is put in front of them and make bad judgements.Now that's that.

ANYWAY CHECK THIS OUT!!!!

I won a trip to Vages!!!NO SHIT!!!
Every thing is paid for and I get $1000.00 spending money!!!

Only thing is.I have never flown on a plane before and this will be scary to me.
What's even more scary is knowing I won't be able to smoke for about 5 days until I'm back.
There is no way in hell I am going to risk sneaking something on the plane.

Maybe when I get there.I can talk to some people and round up a little smoke.

I will be taking a friend of mine with me,because my wife is to scared to fly and doesn't want to leave the little one for that long.

I can't beleive I won.I have never won anything, before in my life.

Wrll ya'll hit me back about the great things to do while i am there,if you have been there before.

I see what you are saying, but there will always be people out there that will still do stupid shit even when it is leagalized. I think that it just bothers me that there are people out there that won't change, no matter how much info or steering they recieve, and will always make it harder for the rest of us. I do try to educate as much as I can as one person, but I am a little younger than you and I think I have trouble getting past the feeling that it seems futile at times. I wil never let that feeling stop me from spreading the word but sometimes that feeling just creeps up and sits in my chest and I can't feel any thing else. Dont laugh or get mad at them ,instead offer them Hope and educate those people when you come in contact with them in everyday life - point them to good resources so that they can be informed and better protect themselves - be it you meet these people at work,school,the local bar,just hanginn out at the park playing ball,. awake people to the ills these laws bring opoun us as a Whole.i do not beleive those people ar hurting legalization (its much Bigger than that mainly BIG Pharm BIG money and old school beleifs ),I chilled in A'DAM for a solid year....Never felt more Free in my LIFE.(not shure about the driving laws but why would you need to, its much to fun going to a coffee shop and smokin up my favorite place over there Coffeshop 36 playing pool for houres getting stoned )Cannabis laws are the only bad side effect causing more harm than good 100%.I may smoke in public but im ALLWAYS on my toes no JOKE But thats me when im out at a concert and everybody around me is chain smoking ciggeretts I can only take so much before I light up a Fatty.but in the town where i live in these mountains when the feelings rite lotts of people do.now a days i resort to tinctures,and cookies and a few rolled joints when going to concerts.much easier to pass around and share.

Oh, and just so you don't think i'm a hypocrite, I was arrested on my birthday two years ago with a mear bowl pack. Yep less than a gram. I spent the whole day handcuffed to a staircase in a RI state police barrack after which I was brought in front of a judge and I pled my case. I said that the laws were not right and that the state had the problem and not me. I spent another day in jail and recieved almost three grand in fines. It hurt my pocket and my back (those beds suck!)but I didn't sacrifice my beliefs. I stood up for myself. It probably didn't help that I was wearing a t-shirt with george bush and a girl pulling her panties down that said good bush and bad bush, but I thought it was funny. Just know that I am on the right side, I just enjoy debate! late

I agree river runner, to a certain extent though. My argument is that the people that I choose to snicker at are not the ones willing to speak out and stand up. Typically they are people that choose to be ignorant. They go out in public and run a great risk of being caught and persecuted under these stupid fuckin ass-backwards laws. They are not willing to pay fines and they are not responsible people. I guarantee that when they appear before a judge they don't speak up and say that they don't have a problem and that it is the laws that are fucked. No. They stand in front of one of Bush's black robed lackys and then admits that they have a "drug" problem and that they need help and will quit. This action further supports the govenments view that pot is a drug and a problem. They dont care about 'legalization' and when they do get in trouble and act the fool, the battle then becomes that much harder for us responsibe smokeres to win. My point is that these people are making our case look weak. These are the same people that WHEN pot is legalized will still continue to drive around in their cars with a fucking bong still getting arrested. Alcohol is legal and you can't just drive around drinking. I've never been to Amsterdam but I would be willing to bet that you can't just drive around town smoking a bong with your friends in the car. Funny, after speaking on this issue so whole heartedly I can see your point a little clearer. Maybe I should be mad at them instead of laughing at them? ahaha too bad.. Up here in Montreal, quebec, I smoke in public areas all the time. Its funny though because I observed and saw it's always the same people who get caught. Maybe you just aint slick enough. When you see a cop while youre smoking, you light a cigarette and the weed odor flees away

Hey, River Runner, I just wanted to point out that I never said it was funny to see someone being searched, in fact, I actually said that it is irresponsible smokers like this one who cause problems for otherwise law abiding smokers. It is people like the guy that wrote this letter who make it so hard to legalize something that should have never NEVER been illegale in the first place. The guy or girl who wrote this Busted letter had a medical prescription from California and still acted like a complete ass. You would think people who receive prescriptions would be a little more cautious. I guess I am just getting old.

Hey now, I am not arguing the fact that the laws are fucked but there is innocent and then there is just plain dumb. 'Innocent' would be if you or I was bagged, mostly because we ae aware of the penalty and probability of something being found if we are pulled over. Dumb, and laughable, are the people young or old that get into their car with a bong and drive around until they get pulled over with it. I do think that the line between funny and sympathetic in that case is blurry but they got what they deserved. I see your point about being on the same side but do you know anybody that would drive around with a dirty bong? And if you do, are you really going to sit there and tell me that THEY are'nt the idiots. Well anyways river runner, you have struck me as being an older and wiser voice since I started posting here and I do appreciate a good debate. There really is nothing funnier that seeing a car pulled over with a bong on the roof and a cop cuffing a not so smart teenager. I suppose you need to live to learn though. Hey wh, I used to live and work at sunriver resort in central oregon. It is just outside Bend near the foot of Mt. Bachelor. Anyways, one of my favorite nights ever was at a bar in Eugene called Doc's Pad (or place?). Good times man, I miss it alot. New england is nice but there is no way it compares to Oregon! late
p.s. I don't think that I could be more jealous of the nugs out there either

AMEN, WH!!! I also have molded my "habit" to fit my lifestyle. If I am going for a road trip I roll only a few. If I am just running into town, I get loaded before I go and then again when I get home. Carrying pipes and especially a BONG is a very ametuer move. This is where legalizing marijuana gets it's problems, from kids (AND ADULTS) who are careless and irresponsible and don't give a shit what the consequence is to the rest of us otherwise law abiding smokers.

To XXX's comment - I agree, Roll one for the road and smoke with care. I made it over 20 years without an incident until one of my younger friends was in the car, we got pulled over (not smoking at the time) and the cop saw her pipe when she went for her license. Searched her and found 10gm. and then got to me and found nothing until they looked under the seat and found her other pipe (packed)... which was attributed to me in the arrest report... Thankfully I did get the whole thing dismissed completely when I looked at the report and saw they attributed me with possessing 2 gallons of weed (LOL). I I'm pretty sure I saw the judge grin when I asked if they had to present the evidence as inventoried then tolkd the DA I wanted to see the 2 gallons of weed they took from me. Wam bam, case dismissed and the cop left with his head held low. Always be smart, keep your eyes open, keep your mouth shut if questioned/busted and get a lawyer if you dont know what you are doing -- they will railroad you almost every time otherwise.

Good point kalicoast. There are not nearly enough stoners getting involved in the legalization process. And no, smoking a dube at the Hempfest in your local city does not count as activism, that is mearly a stoners chance to smoke in front of the cops. It's too bad that it usually takes getting arrested to motivate somebody into being pro-active instead of just baked. If half of us spoke out it would be too loud to ignore! I suggest switching to a nice sativa to help motivate off of the couch! late

u didnt get in trouble for being caught on campus? at my school in CT if you get caught once with weed you get kicked off of campus. But liquor stores close at 9pm here so that tells you something about CT. They dont like people having to much fun..
