NORMLIZER - MAY 2007

Behind The 8-Ball: All signs point to marijuana liberation.

Thu, Mar 15, 2007 12:42 pm

-
This past fall in Washington, DC, I attended a seminar for nonprofit executives. Leaders from some of our country’s most respected and venerable public-interest groups and charitable foundations were present. As always, the inevitable moment of truth approached when the seminar facilitator turns to the participants and asks them to stand up and state their name and what organization they represent. Upon discovering that my brethren in attendance represented organizations such as the ACLU, the NAACP, the Sierra Club, So Others Might Eat (SOME) and the National Historic Trust, it was with a certain sense of pride and whimsy that I announced my representation of NORML. None of the other groups garnered applause and hoots of approval, but NORML did.

At the first bathroom break, a distinguished and much older gentleman asked over the urinal, “Where are you sitting? I want to have lunch with you.” He then wisecracked, “Do you NORML folks have free samples?”

A major business-software developer, who publishes eBest Practices program-builders for business owners and managers, contacted NORML recently to lament that in updating their employee manual, they found the section on marijuana use too restrictive and disproportionate, especially in light of the fact that alcohol, tobacco and pharmaceutical use off the job carried no threat of termination. They asked NORML to update the section, including how employers might best interact with their cannabis-consuming employees.

Recently, General Hospital joined the roster of major network television shows—including ER, Chicago Hope, Cybil, Murphy Brown, Whoopi and the Larry David Show—that have featured compelling medical-marijuana plots, despite the federal government’s lunacy.

But most remarkable are the advertisements found in alternative weekly papers nationwide asking for cannabis consumers to act as guinea pigs in federally funded anti-drug studies. A recent ad in the Washington City Paper caught my attention: “IT’S 4:19. GOT A MINUTE?”

The end to marijuana prohibition is drawing nigh. When the oppressor adopts the language of the oppressed, the former’s days are numbered.

—Allen St. Pierre, executive director of NORML in Washington, DC.

If your able to vote, then use your power, don't abuse it.

Change is only as large as you make it. What if you were to make a bunch of small changes that made in time a large change? Chip away at this one, it'll eventually crumble.

I wish smoking was legalized. But the only problem about it becoming legal is that the government would lose all this money that ilegal marijuana use is makeing for them. But there is always hope.

You have to be a complete idiot not to see these messages everyday. Unfortunately right wing Christians who account for 30 percent of the US population vote. Since only about 50 percent vote in America the Christians win. But as jails fill up we sit and smoke and talk about how much America sucks. Politicians want power. They would support legalization if we voted. Even Jesus smoke the ganja.

Bankrupt

Jul 31 2007, 5:39 pm

If we keep on in the U.S.A. the way we are we'll end up bankrupt with no money to fight a "drug war". Think of the amount we spend on the wars (2 with Afghanistan) and how much we're borrowing.

Or hopefully we'll finally just get sick of continually making new copies of Al Capone.

As long as "THEY" control the money and corporations, factories etc. and depend on us for labor, "THEY" won't want us smoking pot! The national economy depends on it!. It is that simple.

WOW,
there is a lot of anger here.
Well the only thing I want to know is why are we fighting amongst ourselves???
Regardless of what we do, how we do it, or what we believe to be true, we all are fighting the good fight in hopes that one day legal Mary Jane can be a reality. I really believe that if we would stop trying to be "right" and work together a lot better progress would be made.

I recently joined the ACLU, and am trying to get the word out, if everyone who is arrested for simple possession demand a jury trial, make no deals with the arresting agency and plead not guilty based on the “Right to the Pursuit of Happiness” it will clog the judicial system.

"THE MARIJUANA LEAF" POSTER

So you think you have heard every name there is for marijuana? Not yet you haven't! Some are funny, some creative and some are just out there - but what people don't know is that the US Government keeps an official list of all these names. And surprisingly enough, over the years this list has grown to a shocking 647 official "street terms" for marijuana.

Upon discovering this list, LA Pop Art felt a …
