Busted Letter #112 – Sacrament or Illicit Drug?

I was downtown in Boise, Idaho (6th and main) having a good time with friends and listening to live music. We decided to leave one place and go to another place just down the street and around the corner.

When we left to go to the next place a couple gentlemen joined us as we were walking. While we were walking down the sidewalk a police officer stopped his car in the road. He exited the vehicle and asked, “Did anyone see a guy with a gun?” The bar down the street (a bar down further than the one we had just left) called and reported a person with a gun. He asked if anyone noticed any strange behavior or anything out of the ordinary. I along with the others replied that we had not seen anyone with a gun or anything strange going on.

I didn’t think too much about it and headed toward the next place. The same officer said, “I am not done with you. Come back here.” The two gentlemen that joined us were of Hispanic origin. They like me had shaved heads. I guess they profiled us as gang bangers. We were ordered to sit down on the curb. We sat there and waited while 10 or more officers arrived on the scene. When the officer had back up, then he said, “We are going to search you now for a weapon.” The officer told me to stand up put my hands on my head and spread my legs. I said, “I don’t believe you have the right to search me.” The officer paid no attention to what I was saying as he fondled me for a weapon. He felt down my right leg and asked what was in my pocket. I said, “This is my religious sacrament. I have the right to carry it and that right is protected by law.” He got a kick out of that as he and the rest of the officers made fun of me and told me how uneducated I was. The officers told me that none of that mattered in Idaho and I was a fool to believe it. I asked them if city laws and state laws supersede federal laws. They said, “Possession of marijuana is a crime and that rest can be figured out later on in court”.

Once they found my container of sacrament (the container had two religious labels on it) they seemed to be okay making fun of me and my religion. Meanwhile there was a guy with a weapon running around somewhere downtown. I guess two grams of marijuana and my pipe were more of a threat.

They put handcuffs on me with no mention of arrest. I asked if I was under arrest. Their answer was that it was obvious. I asked why they didn’t read me my Miranda rights. The officers laughed at me and told me that they didn’t have to read me my rights and that I was uneducated and to learn my facts. They escorted me to a squad car. I got in and sat there while the others were searched.

Meanwhile my roommate had walked up while I was being searched. As I sat in the squad car I noticed the officers poking fun at me and making fun of my church and religion. They claimed I was trying to justify getting high.

I am a registered medical marijuana patient and caregiver through the state of Oregon. I have the right by federal law to possess sacrament for bona fide religious use. I was ordained a minister September 18, 1997. I have my own congregation and ministry. My ministry is registered in Oregon and Idaho as C.O.C.T. Ministry. The Church Of Cognitive Therapy is an Entheogenic Church. We believe our use of Entheogenic sacraments is mandatory and vital in discovering individual spirituality and achieving personal enlightenment.

We carry identification and label our sacraments for religious use. We do this to set us apart from criminals.

It's like some Native American spirit quest thing with weed? You have sacramental mushrooms too, or is it just a personal choice of the "vessel" to enlightenment?

I understand the concept, but do you guys believe in a Christian god?

As for the cops acting like you were just some "dope-head idiot", and laughing at you, that's what they do bro.

What else have you seen them do for you lately?

I think there are a lot of good cops out there, that never have time to give you shit, because they are too busy doing a bad-ass job. These would be the guys you only see on cops taking down crooks, or saving babies from explosions.

As far as I know, police can always get away with searching your person. It's not fair (or legal most of the time), but seems to be yet another assimilation of your rights into the doctrine of control enforced all across this beautiful country.

Oh, and fuck those pricks if I didn't already say it.

I've lived in Boise, Id all of my life. Unfortunatly thats just the way it is around here. I have been busted a few times, minor stuff, and each time have been subject to such harassment. I was pregnant with my daughter during one traffic stop, where the officers said my paraphanella charge from three years earlier was enough reason to search my car. They searched my car, my bag, my friends, bag and patted us both down. Seven months pregnant, being patted down on the side of the road. They didn't find anything, like we said they wouldn't. I was accused of taking extacy while pregnant because they found a package from a hand held light that I bought from a local dollar store that had the word "rave" on it. Then I was told if I gave up my "dealer" everything would go away and I could go home. Even though they found nothing on me. And i had been pulled over because my "muffler was custom and therefore illegal"
It sucks, but its just the way it is around here. Idaho will be one of the last states to legalize, even for medicinal purposes. If you smoke, for any reason, be very very careful around these parts.

first of all, if a cop terry stops you they have the right to pat you down for dangerous weapons.However the dont have the right to reach into your pockets, unless during the pat down they feel something that resembles a weapon. example: a gun or a knife usually wont fit in a shirt pocket. so in saying that the only way they can get you at that point is by self incrimination. example: speed limits 40 your doing 50. A cop pulls you over. the first thing he asks is "do you know how fast you were going." your response would probably be honest. my response would be 40. why? because even if he gives you a ticket. its that much easier to fight in the court of law. something as small as that would be easily dismissed. for weed if you had to take it to trial the cop may be subjected to a polygraph test by your defense lawyer. thats if you have the budget. most people dont. if you do though, you can probably break clean with no hopes for reimbursement unless you sue. all n all plan to spend alot of time in and out of court. You see, its your money that they want...

The possession charges were dismissed today September 25th 2007. Religious defense works for those that are religious. Just because you dont't believe marijuana should not be smoked for spiritual purposes dosen't give you the right to throw away thousands of years of religious practice. Get real and stop bagging on other people for their beliefs. Get educated. I read the bible over 20 times before I read it high. I wouldn't soly take stalk in a book that has been perverted by thousands of people. Levite priests annointed themselves with cannabis holy oil and burned hashish in closed tents. @ slamabamaman, I don't see how you see it's right to smoke weed from the bible. BTW, Gen 1:29-31 talks about herbage yielding seed, and every tree FOR FOOD. Right after that it says EVERY GREEN HERB IS FOR FOOD. Maybe you glossed over that part while you were reading holy texts while high. It doesn't even say consume, but specifically for food.

i dont think that i could ever praise something that is a weed. i think there is a right way to justify smoking pot. and saying that god put it on the earth to consume is totally wrong to me. he put poison ivy on earth to. should i consume that? but i dont think refering to it as a religious sacrament is ever going to make it legal. and i also dont think it should be legalized. remember all those lies that we were led to believed in reefer madness. theyll just start making commercials about how pot will turn u into the source of all our problems. it will turn into something dark. i just think that we should be able to consume it in our own homes with no penalties. maybe im tottaly wrong.

Yooo I just went through a year of police academy and learned the law inside n out. First of all your case should def. be dropped in court. Second, the stupid fucking po9 had no right to frisk you unless you were acting suspicious like you had a gun on you... Third of all a frisk is totally different from a search its a patdown for officer safety what the cop did was totally illegal... Fuck the police there cops because they are uneducated just like supercopper... Dont let that shit bother you half the coppers out there are corrupt... It isn't important who discovered what. It is what they chose to do with it that is of importance to all human biengs. I have no doubt it was a priestes that discovered the spiritual connection between entheogenic sacraments and the need for them in the spiritual developement of all human beings. In many cultures women are the shamans. My grate-grandmother on my mothers ide was 100% Cherokee. I honor priestesess and priests. Many teachers have shared their connection with sacraments and how they have help them spiritualy. I have found when we share our beliefs with one another we find that we aren't alone in how we think and act. It is nice to know we are not alone in this world. I believe humanity is capable of much more than hatered, violence, greed, murder, theft, rape; this is to big of a list to go on. I haven't always wanted the best for everyone. Life changes and wisdom evolves. I know my place in the universe and I am without fear. May life bless you according to what seeds you've sowen.

Hey Rev,
I was reading an interesting read about how it was probably woman and not man that discovered the psychoactive properties and other uses pertaining to cannabis.

This conclusion was based on the role early women played in the family structure.
While the men went out on hunting expeditions the women would go through the fields and the forests gathering plants, seeds, roots, and other sources of food for the communities they lived in.
The discovery of the psychoactive propeties in the very begining were made completely by mistake.
It is that moment that humans starting looking at this plant as a useful crop, which then led on to other discoveries using this crop like, medicine,religion, clothing, building materials, etc etc.
Any hoot, i thought i'd share some interesting discoveries and insights.
No doubt about it that this plant has played a huge postive role in our developemnts as humans.

Government, Religion, and Employment are the biggest vehicles for discriminiation and prejudice known to man. It is amazing how many people just say whatever they want without merit or factual information to back it up. Entheogenic sacraments have been around for thousands of years used by many people worldwide. If you can back up you claims then you have a case. I can back up my claims and I thought it would be nice to share info with other people, but I can plainly see we have a lot of healing to do before any of us can come together on any thing. The only reason you enjoy cannabis is becuase other people before us realized it's enormous potential for mass healig. If you could just get passed the getting high part for just a few minutes and take a look at the state of things around us we might want to come togehter and start changing things. I got ordained a Rastafarian cannabis minister in 1997. This isn't something I just made up. I don't deny being in possession, but it is why I was in possession. Very few things in this life are protected. Religious belief is still one of them. The key word is belief. No one person has the same belief, but that dosen't have to keep us seperated. it is easy to sit behind a computor and poke fun at people who are active in trying to change things. Don't be so bitter. Get out and be active in your communities. It is what we`are not doing that is killig our progression. i also believe that life is a learning experience and part of that experience is learning that there are ways of getting by in life without destroying our enviroment and those that call it home.
Once upon a time perhaps people did what they did to get by.
Today? people still practice old habits because old habits are hard to break.
We, or many of us, are taught that carrying on a tradition is something special and those caught in the crossfire of our traditions were somehow created to support our traditional ways.
Those who seem to be in the business of killing our wolves are doing it for purposes of raising catt;e for cash profits.
There is another way.
We arent living in 1700
We arent living like humans lived 10,000 year ago.
Things that seemed to be sacred to human life and survival are pretty much obsolete and the practices are carried out for reasons that make no sense to me.
There is a group of Native Americans who feel they have to go kill whales because their ancestors did, and they say "we must carry on the ways of our past"..
, but when we see them hunting the whales that are suppose to mean so much to them in traditioanl ways, we see them out in the water with 100 horse powered Mercury outboard engines, instead of hand carved boats and oars to paddle their boats with, while dressed in timberland boots and other current synthetics made by current manufacture's.
Tradition is somehow sacraficed for comfort?

I cant tell people how they should live, but i can try to teach them another way.

IMO, its a crooked piece of time that we live in.

They use them wisely not, like some hunters in the lower 48 who like to hunt but don't eat the meat. the reason why runners will wear a piece of cloth/mask, over their mouths when they run in the colder weather is to prevent the lungs from freezing.
Heavy breathing and cold weather can cause great damage to the lungs.
Is a bong full of ice enough to cause harm? obviously , quite possible.
That being said, it has nothing to do with rhe Marijuana. It may just have everything to do with the way the Marijuana is smoked.

Not guilty plea = no , I wasn't in possesion of Weed

Enter a Guilty plea = yes I had Marijuans in my possesion .

They consider it illegal to have . See how that works ?

I got charged with possesion of marijuana and paraphernalia. I always carry sacrament with me just in case any one needs some. I am not predjudice about who I help. Sometimes people need a little to come down, unwind, for pain, stress. It is my duty to carry it and I don't take my job lightly. I don't no anyone who is required to change their beliefs because they cross a state line or boundry. Government has no scientific evidence to back marijuana as a schedule one in the controlled substance act. We need to start looking at our own state CSA's and find out how long it has been since they have reviewed the scientific evidence. Cannabis as a sacrament predates our government by atleast 10,000 years or so. No fear

I apologise about the get a life comment. I don't have the luxsury of setting behind a computer all day and night. Ministers are not perfect people. I don't claim to be. You don't have to be a perfect person to want to help people. And by the way I wasn't hanging out with gang bangers. I was hanging out with a different group of people and happened to walk out of a club on my way to another when I made the aquaintace of the guys suspected of being in a weapons fight. I am not sure why I am explaining this.

I like to drive up to Seattle, head east into Montana and Idaho, then go south into Utah/N.M.
The reservations, the food, the Mesas, the rock formations, etc etc, are just crazy.

That being said, there is no place i'd rather live than San Francisco.

I had come across some very dark nugs when I lived in Oregon about 8 years ago. My room mate came home from a trip to Seattle an he brought an once with him. All that I can recall about it was that it was an incredible stone, from just a hit or two, and it lasted almost all day. i smoked some black looking cannabis in Rapid City South Dakota back in 1975 that to this day was some of the best cannabis i've ever had a chance to smoke.
These dudes from the USA Airforce turned me on to it.

Anytime a cop asks if you saw a man with a gun, you say, I didn't see a gun, but a guy just ran that-a-way, then leave in a different direction, quickly!! The cop WILL be back!
Had the same thing happen to me, except I was at home. The cop knocked on my door and asked if I had heard any gunshots. I had just gotten home, and didn't hear anything. He left for about 5 minutes, and came back, with about 12 "friends". He asked if I would mind a quick search, I said "cool". The guy sitting on the couch, ROLLING a Joint, didn't catch on real quick, however. I left him, (on his own now!)and led the cop thru the house. While looking in the bathroom, one of the cops from the front room came in and reported that he had found some illegal substance. The officer I was with looked at me and asked, Is this true? I replied that there was a very good chance of it. He grinned and asked how well my toilet worked. I said I just had it greased last week. He said, I'd like to see how a well greased toilet works. I went into the front room, reached between several cops and grabbed my stash box. Went into the bathroom and flushed 2 ounces. The cops then left, after a quick fascination with my top shirt button. They missed about 5 pounds under the kitchen sink and 800 hits of speed in the frig. I swear this is a true story! Never Busted!!

Hey Nor-Cal,Well If Your Female Plants Are Showing Male Pollen Sacks At Two Weeks My Best Bet Is That Those Few Clones Were Stressed And Have Went Hermaffy On You,Those Clones Need To Be Destroyed,When A Hermaffy Plants Pollen Is Released It Will Pollenate All Other Plants But Itself And Just About Evey Seed Pulled From Whatever Gets Pollenated Will Be A Hermaffy Plant,The Only Time You Want Pollen Sacks On A Female Plant Is When The Plant Has Already Reached Its Peak.See Those Pollen Sacks That Appear After The Plants Has Peaked Are For The Plants Natural Way Of Survival,That Is When Your Female Plant Will Make Only Fememized Seeds/Over Grow.So I Would Be Very Careful When Removing Those Few Plants And Keep A Close Eye Out For More Of Them.Cough,COugh,COugh,COough

Hey, I have a few more questions about something my husband I are unsure about.

We are currently growing indoors and have a few outdoor girls going on my dad's property. Anyway, our main crop right now is indoors. We have about 20 female plants, all of which were clones from Mother Plants. This past week my husband noticed random seed sac's on the female plants. We have read about it in a few books and really arent' sure of what to make of the information we've obtained. When I asked my dad about a female plant throwing seeds (**only a very few, and only on 2 of the plants**) he said it is possible and that those seeds "SHOULDN'T" pollinate the rest of our plants. Since we are into our 2nd week of flowering we definately DO NOT want the ENTIRE crop to be pollinated. I trust my Dad but, my husband needs reassurance that we aren't going to fuck anything up.

We had never seen this before but, had read about it. We just want to make ABSOLUTELY sure that a few seeds on a female won't pollinate a WHOLE crop.

Any knowledge you could pass on would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for everybody's help.

yeah,but you will NEVER,no matter how many lites or wattage,ever come close outdoor possibles,yield and strengh.were talking 12 pounds per planty plant,the best I could ever do indoor was 1/2 pound mabey????of dried product,I am very small scale,running 3 plants now

i am a inside grower.
i prefer outside.
my beliefs(which is subject to change) are that outside plants get bigger under the right circumstances.
I believe that because i have been there, done that.
That being said.....
if one is growing inside and, like with outside, under the right circumstances you can produce a quite healthy vibrant large producing plant, inside.
Good ventilation
Good drainage
Proper nutrients
Love and Care.

predator mites to kill off other mites is a good idea as well.
the ladybug will eat what is available to eat in the garden.
my preference is, and always has been the ladybug.
the main reason i have to replace them on ocassion is because they for some reason like to fly into the light.
that my friends is 1000 hps of, ouch.
what ever method you use, enjoy, keep growing and show respect to all of our little friends in the insect world.

In my Indoor Garden area I also usually have plenty of - Daddy Long Leg spiders walking around,I do not order them or put them in the garden area,they bring themselves,here in (W.N.C) Daddy long Leg spiders are everywhere. Daddy Long Leg Spiders are cool - do not kill them they are very beneficial ....Puff*Puff*Pass~*

I do believe Lady Bugs feed off of all small insects including Spider Mites (although not their favorite),there are several different species of Spider Mites. BUT Lady Bugs mostly like - Aphids - . I Myself rarely have any Bug problems,I do usually have Lady Bugs hanging out in my garden.I do have a good friend who is always combating Spider Mite problems - he always seems to be ordering the Spider Mites natural predator,which in turn is some other Species of Spider Mite,i am not sure of the name of that species of Spider Mite.........Anyways Peace to ALL ~ Happy Summer Solstice ! now back to the vaporizer - AAAAAHHHHHH.then off for one Hell of a long Mountain Bike ride with some sweet down hill single track action....Long Live Long Rides !

nature has a way of taking care of any pest.
The white fly is attracted to the sweet smell of the plant.
If you want to be cautious you may just want to hang a few fruity smelling pest strips near your plants, or you may want to introduce ladybugs to your garden, where they will stay as long as food is available.
Keep an eye on them and try not to worry so much.

Hey Nor-Cal,Well Withe Flys Arnt That Bad,All I Do Is Soak Them Down,Soak The Plant And Spray The Hell Out Of The Plant,If Your Hose Doesnt Reach Just Go Buy One Of Those Back-Pack Kids Squirt Guns (they work really good for this kind of stuff ),And Soapy Water Does Helps A Little But Make Sure Your Light On The Soap,And If They Are Afghids Just Go Buy Lady-Bugs,You Can Buy Them For Like 6-8.00 For 12-1500 Of Them,Buy Like 10 Of Those On Release Them All At Once At The Grow Site... Had Some A Few Years Back And Thats The Stuff I Did And They Were All Gone By Late August...Hope This Helps You And Your Husbands Friend...Will You Be Attending This Years SEATTLE HEMPFEST???

Hey, it's me, I have a question for a friend of my husbands. He has some outdoor stuff going and it's doing really well but, he recently discovered he had "white flys". My husband has told him he needs to take care of it now, while it's still early so he doesn't end up damaging the buds. Our friend says "they're not hurting anything, so I'm going to leave it alone."

My question is: How would you deal with White Flys, cause I have no clue. I have had spider mites before, and that was a fuckin' nightmare. Anyway, we helped this friend get started and we are trying to see him through his first harvest. What is the best advice we could give him about these flies? And thanks for answering my question in advance, I really appreciate it.
