Busted Letter #119 – Malevolent Maintenance Men

Well I got a good busted story: During December I had ordered some seeds from a Web site and planted them inside my apartment on the kitchen table using two sun lamps. I began by putting 50 seeds in 4 baggies and put them under the lights till they sprouted. About 40 or so sprouted which surprised me so I planted them in little quart containers and a few flowerpots.

I had about 40 seeds planted in all and then a few didn’t make it and I had to transfer some and ended up with 11 good plants. Well, as the time passed we had to move out because of the lease so I gave the worst plant away and packed the others up in boxes - 4 to a box - and toted two of them out in baggies and somehow they all made it through the move. I then replaced them all on the table and continued to grow them as I had.

I had them growing for about 5 months in all when because of the crappy place we moved to I had to call the maintenance men to come and fix some broken items. So I moved the plants into the closet and went about my business. The maintenance men came and left but about 3 weeks later I had to call them again. Again they came and left and I repeated the same process and put the plants back on the table because I thought they were done – everything looked fixed.

Well the next day I came home and it appeared as if someone had been inside but I wasn’t sure so I just left them on the table. During the following weeks I had begun cutting the plants down because they weren’t budding up and I was gonna get the THC out somehow and make some hash, I had cut down all but one when I got busted.

On April 3rd I was smoking a blunt while bringing in my birthday (because it’s on April 4th) when out of nowhere a knock on the door came and I thought it was a friend coming to mess with me on my birthday, especially when they said it was the police. I messed with them and said, “Naw it ain’t go on home.” Well they repeated and said if I don’t open the door they were gonna knock it down. So, I then looked around and opened the door. It was 7 cops, one with a battering ram and one with an AK-47 looking gun.

They stormed me and handcuffed me and started ripping through the house. I told them where everything was immediately and laughed at what was going on because I was high as hell. It’s my birthday and I’m chilling handcuffed while the cops are looking all over the house.

They found a rifle, which was mine, about an ounce of chronic, 5 pipes, rolling papers, blunts, about 40 roaches I was saving, about 50 seeds, and a huge plant that was on the table. They told me that the maintenance men came in and saw the plants, they then went and got a camera and took pictures of the plants, and turned them into the cops.

Anyway, I get charged with felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for weed, felony stolen firearm (it turned out the rifle was stolen which I didn’t know), drug paraphernalia, etc. I spent my birthday sobering up, waiting to be put through the legal system.

Along with getting busted that month, I was told I have melanoma skin cancer on April 15th and caught it just in time to get a 6x3 inch scar across my back, fired from my job on April 29th and evicted from the apartment on April 30th. Went through complete hell all in my birthday month, but, hey, I’m back on top, unemployed and loving it at the moment and I even got my charges dropped because we had a substitute judge on my court date. She gave me 6 months of supervised probation. What a break I say.
