Black Water Rising:
Black Water Rising is a collection of soul baring, angst ridden, riff heavy material that is proudly anchored in the foundations of traditional hard rock song writing. Its giant guitar driven monster riffs are served up on a bed of crushing grooves with soaring melodic vocals and big hooks. Basically: No frills riff rock!
Lyrically, the message is socially and politically driven by the dark times we live in. With darkness seemingly growing by the day, Black Water Rising is a name that fits this band like a glove.
After releasing two self-produced albums nationwide with a band called Dust to Dust, singer/songwriter Rob Traynor locked himself away for two years in his Brooklyn recording studio, later emerging with a collection of songs that would become the seeds of Black Water Rising.
Black Water Rising’s 11-song, self-titled debut was released in the summer of 2009 and has received play on Sirius Satellite Radio’s Octane channel for the song “Brother Go On” and was the #6 album in the Top 20 for October (the only unsigned band on the chart!), #2 most requested and in the Top 20 weekly chart many times. The single has grown legs and is still receiving spins and requests 40 weeks later.
Other commercial radio stations across the country are now starting to spin “Brother Go On” including KXXR in Minneapolis, MN, WKQZ in Saginaw, MI, WDHA’s Metal Mania in NJ – who named BWR’s “Living Proof” one of the best new songs of the year! WKILO in Colorado Springs, WCPR in Biloxi, MS, WRXP in NY, WAXQ in NY, and many others… all of this without actively working the single to radio!
The fan response from around the world has also been overwhelmingly positive.
The philosophy of BWR is simple: they are not looking to reinvent the wheel, they just want to give it a much needed alignment in these musically stale times. Enough bullshit! Crank it up, sit back, spark a bat, and let the music tell the rest of the story…
