Madam Governor?

Former high-end madam Kristin Davis is running for governor of New York. Davis, who spent four months in Rikers Island prison after a conviction for promoting prostitution, says her campaign was partially inspired by the injustice of her serving time while former Governor Eliot Spitzer (whom Davis claims was among her freakier clients) walked away without any charges filed against him after getting caught on a wiretap arranging a meeting with a prostitute. As governor, Davis says she would legalize not just prostitution, gambling and other “victimless crimes,” but gay marriage and recreational marijuana use as well. She recently shared her views on freeing the weed with us.

Why did you decide to include legalizing marijuana in your platform?
Marijuana legalization fits my basic campaign philosophy, which favors both economic and personal freedom. It’s also common sense. New York State is broke – we have a $9.1 billion immediate budget deficit, and billions more in long-term debt. Meanwhile, New York has millions of people who would gladly pay a reasonable tax on marijuana if the criminal aspects were removed and quality was ensured. Not to mention the thousands of jobs legalization would create, which we need desperately in this state.

How did you first become interested in this issue?
I myself am not a user of any drugs, and I drink very little, but I feel strongly about other people’s freedom to indulge. Frankly, I’m sick of the government telling individuals what they can and cannot do, particularly when the political class abuses the system, robs the state blind, and lacks any moral authority to tell New Yorkers how to behave properly.

Do you think marijuana is an aphrodisiac?

I imagine it depends on the individual. The few times I used marijuana growing up, I found it made me introverted and less social. It has the opposite effect on other people, and I’m sure for many of them it is an aphrodisiac. To each his own.

I live in New York State, and I'm a registered voter. I will be voting Kristin Davis for Governor. It is time for a real change. It is time to return to our core values, and defend personal liberty. We will be doing the right thing, and increasing revenue for the state at the same time. It is the Win-Win situation that NY has been looking for. I encourage all of my fellow New Yorkers to vote KRISTIN DAVIS for Governor of New York State.

I agree with Davis on just about everything except the statement that gambling is harmless. I could go to a casino and in 1 night I could devastate my family financially .

Click on the link to her website and view her qualifications. She is educated, intelligent, worldly, and an impressive businesswoman.

She appears to be BETTER qualified than the majority of the dumbasses currently in any level of government.

Well, since you already feel like an ass, I might as well add that Davis has a bachelor's degree and is working on her master's degree in psychology. This, in my opinion, does not make her a legit candidate, but she is in fact "college educated."

Here I stand corrected, clearly the web hosting/development department needs revision. My comments were there when I posted, disappeared for 5 minutes (yes I clicked refresh like 20 times), and now they have reappeared. Awesome. I love magic, as well as looking like an impatient over opinionated ass. Apparently. LoL.

Out of all the nonsense posted on this website in the comment sections, you guys remove the only things that have anything to do at all with the realities in the strories themselves? HT forbid someone speak against legalizing cannabis at any cost to society as a whole. HT forbid someone on here who loves to smoke weed doesn't want it legalized at any cost to the United States. HT forbid we smoke weed and love our country and our free speech too. The so called News department for HT magazine is officially bogus. I really expected more from HT than to delete comments. There always will be good and bad aspects to every company, clearly the HT news department needs revision.

This is sad but true but I really think this will have a greater negative affect on the NORML cause while having a lesser positive affect. No politician is going to take her seriously, especially if she is not college educated. Have their been politicians before who were not educated up to the "unsaid standard" on capitol hill? There sure have. Were ANY of them former criminals or a former head of a criminal organization? NO. Were any of them former prostitutes? No. Neither of these ring true based on current public knowledge.
She is performing an act of self promotion, she is reaching for the strings trying to grasp them before she falls into the big black hole of nobodies and she CAN'T STAND it because as a former Madam, she was really "somebody." A criminal somebody. It is my opinion she is trying to reinflate her ego by trying to become the Govenor of NY. What is she going to do is she is not elected Governor? Go back to committing victimless crimes? That not who I would want for the Governor of Florida, I don't give a damn if she said she would give the smoke away FOR FREE!!! WHAT A CROCK!!!

"I AM CREATING MY OWN PARTY BECAUSE THAT WAY I CAN HAVE A GREATER CONTROL OVER THE ISSUES I AM SPEAKING ON AND IM NOT SUBJECT TO INTERNAL POLITICS OF A PRE-ESTABLISHED PARTY, SO I AM CREATING MY OWN PARTY THAT WAY IT CAN BE BASED ON FREEDOMS" --Kristin Davis

DON'T JUST TELL US WHAT YOU "WANT" TO CHANGE, TELL US WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO TO CHANGE IT!!! (OR WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY STARTED TO DO IF YOU HAVE EVEN STARTED TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL)
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO AFTER YOU "CHANGE" THE VERY SMALL LIST OF THINGS YOU SPOKE ABOUT CHANGING? IF MARIJUANA/PROSTITUTION/GAMBLING ARE ALL LEGALIZED, WHAT THEN? ARE YOU JUST GOING TO RESIGN BECAUSE YOU ACCOMPLISHED CHANGING THE ONLY THREE THINGS YOUR RUN FOR GOVERNOR IS BASED ON. YOUR CANDIDACY IS COMPROMISED OF LEGALIZING VICTIMLESS CRIMES AND NOTHING MORE. WHAT ELSE ARE YOU GOING TO DO OR DO YOU REALLY THINK LEGALIZING THOSE THREE VICTIMLESS CRIMES IS GOING TO CHANGE NY AND MAKE IT SOME MAGICAL CANDY LAND?

I WILL ADMIT, YOU SOUND INTELLIGENT IN A COMMON SENSE/STREET SMART SORT OF WAY, BUT YOU DO NOT SOUND LIKE YOU GAINED A COLLEGIATE EDUCATION THAT 99% OF POLITICIANS HAVE. HERE'S A REAL QUESTION FOR YOU, SCREW POLITICAL PARTIES, DO YOU EVEN HAVE A COLLEGE DEGREE? IF YOU DO, WHAT IS IT IN?

David is it? You are mentally disabled are you not? You speak of others intelligence with none of your own. Start with a spelling lesson please. Anyways, as for the campaign, good luck. You probably won't win but, you will at least open some eyes and ears. America is ready.

She has some very legitimate points, freedom should be the main concern of the government not locking people up for victimless crimes.

Whenever someone makes ignnorant remarks,it is more than anything a reflection of how close minded and stupid they actually are. It is obvious that not everyone evolves mentally at the same rate, as some of our species are still stuck in the dark ages of complete stupidity - the world is flat didn't you know?!
