Chelsea Clinton ‘Misspoke’ About Marijuana Deaths

Most marijuana advocates were caught aback earlier this week when Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, told a Colorado audience that marijuana was  … deadly.

But we also have anecdotal evidence now from Colorado, where some of the people who were taking marijuana for those purposes, the coroner believes, after they died, there was drug interactions with other things they were taking.

The word Clinton was looking for was not “anecdotal” but rather “imaginary,” because no such deaths from
interactions have been found.

Today, reports the Washington Post, Clinton walked the remark back.

A spokeswoman for Chelsea Clinton told The Post in a statement that “while discussing her and her mother’s support for rescheduling marijuana to allow for further study of both its medical benefits and possible interactions with other medications, Chelsea misspoke about marijuana’s interaction with other drugs contributing to specific deaths.”

The Post went the extra mile and mentioned something that is often not cited in mainstream reporting on cannabis: “On its own, marijuana is not known to have any fatal dosage level. The DEA itself acknowledges that nobody has ever died from marijuana alone.”

  1. Thanks for the dea PDF link. I get really tired of arguing with assholes that claim pot’s killing people. This will be great for shutting most of them down. Sadly, others will still insist it’s deadly.

    1. Easy there now. We have all had bad information and gone with it until corrected. The only difference is the Clintons are in the public eye and everyone gets to see it when it happens. You and I can sandbag it.
Just goes to show you that there are people out there (some in high places) that have a heap of propaganda baggage to shed and it is up to you and I to educate anyone who has misinformation. It sounds like someone provided that education.

      1. I agree, kcRon. She screwed up and realized it and walked her comments back. She’s a normal person and like all of us, says stupid things once in a while. Don’t have to make a big conspiracy out of it.

Unlike the Donald, she doesn’t double down on stupid.

        1. She just a normal person flying around on a private jet over 300 miles to a ‘clean energy’ roundtable despite Hillary’s promise to run a ‘carbon neutral’ campaign. But hey, she’s a normal person… pfft.

The Bush years should have taught people to say no to DYNASTIES, Bush or Clinton!

      2. Be honest, if trump said this or his son, people would be talking about it a lot more. Clinton’s words are so devalued no one takes them seriously.

  2. Trump is 100% for med pot (you can look it up) Clinton says “it needs more study”.

There are no good presidential candidates this year. But on pot Trump is better.

My guess is that either the cartels or Big Phama have bought off Clinton. Maybe both.

  3. LOL, legalization will have to be impose on to the federal government by the right to vote. Do not expect neither parties to pass legislation to take power from the DEA. There is not one politicians willing to stand up against there masters, Big Tobacco, Big Alcohol, and Big Pharmaceuticals. Cutting the funding that is use to fund the loss war on drugs is step one. Reduction on unnecessary personal no in a million years. So why anyone believe any of this politicians when they say the support legalization of medical or recreational marijuana. She just told the true. Not politically correct for the campaign her mom is running, but non the less the true about what each party really support.
