VANCOUVER - A British Columbia woman who makes and sells ginger snaps laced with marijuana has been acquitted of trafficking for a second time, after prosecutors failed to prove the treats contain cannabis resin.
Mary Jean Dunstan, also known as Watermelon, was arrested twice and charged with possession of cannabis resin for the purposes of trafficking.
But analysts who used samples of the resin police seized to mix and bake the same kind of batter Dunstan uses for her ginger snaps have not been able to prove the extract is still present in the finished product.
"The judge found a reasonable doubt at the end of the Crown's case as to what was in the cookie," said Dunstan's lawyer, John Conroy.
"If the cookies or the brownies or whatever ... have been made in a batter so nobody can identify leaves, sticks or stems through a microscope, then the only way the Crown can get a conviction for possessing a prohibited thing would be if they charged her with possession or trafficking of cannabis [alone], without adding resin or marijuana," he said.
Analysts are able to chemically detect cannabis in Dunstan's cookies.
Trafficking in cannabis is a more serious drug offence that could lead to a jury trial and carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, and Conroy doubts the authorities would choose that route over a few ginger snaps.
The resin-trafficking charge is a lesser offence that carries a lighter sentence.
"My lawyer and I are saying, like, if you can't prove it's there, how can you measure it?" said Dunstan, who hosts a Pot TV internet show when she's not selling the cookies at places like Vancouver's Wreck Beach.
She too doubts the Crown would opt for a more serious charge, given the kind of reaction she said she has gotten from her fans and drug opponents alike.
"The court of public opinion is not interested in paying their tax dollars any more, it's quite clear," she said.
The Crown is appealing her acquittal on the resin charge, however.

I don't think it's right to say that oil was the reason...everyone parrots this...but this operation has distrupted world oil supplies and made the situation more dangerous. I think the intention was to make a american westren typoeregime unber 'their' direction...and power. Who are they? the 'masonic elite'. This is why all the time that they are saying that they are bringing freedom and emocracy to Iraq, they always wanna keep control 'top down' sort of thing...under their control.
Like pharohs or something.
They are genuinely suprised that the Iraqi culture wants something different than want they want them to be like.
So of course there are problems and difficulty's.
The attitude is wrong from the top down.
The Iraqi's are pleased that Saddam's regime is gone of course, but unfortunately the Bush regime were doing for other reasons that the Iraqi's true liberation and self determination, but so that Iraq could be brought into US type control and power paradigm.
But beacuse of the heavy handed nature of the operation...the 'attitude', it has caused and probably will cause problems for oil supply and production in the region.
Thus oil prices have shot up since this idealogical 'adventure' oversees.
But at least Saddams gone I guess, and if you lived there there that would be good...but instead everyones being killed and averything trashed around you by programmed pysco's!
...and a whole new anti western Jihadist movement generated.
...but wwhats wrong, don't these Iraqis like Micheal Jackson and Macdonalds?
ar.
Pervert culture is not welcome in Islamic country's...such things are taboo here. Please leave ASAP.
Thank you.
Allah Akbar.

The point is that by keeping a vast majority of our military overseas we are leaving the U.S vulnerable and open to attack.
However, by pulling out of Iraq and leting the U.N take over we can defend our country against Terroist attacks by blowing the enemy out of the sky or out of the water as they approach the Pacific, Atlantic or Gulf coastline, long before the enemy reaches it's target.
and thanks for the tip Lapriest.

Video games such as Rainbow 6, Medal of Honor and Killswitch are based in actual military combat. Only diffence is there is no reset button to press after you have died. In fact, in order to get into the special forces, one must beat all of those before mentioned video games on the "Hard" level without dying.
What you acknowlege is pure propaganda meant to brainwash and control the U.S constituents tricking us into giving away more and more of our freedoms.
As for worrying about my loved one's dying in a 9/11 like attack, I'm petrified. Now that your hero is still in the white house for another 4 years, I fear that something is going to happen that makes 9/11 look like Labor Day.

1.Back in the 80's We had a good relationship with Sadam. It was so good we decided to give him WMD's to protect his country in the Iran/Iraq war. Big mistake! He ended up using them on his own people. 2. After we warned him not to, he invaded Kuwait causing hundreds of thousands of people to die and widespread ecological damage. 3.After he lost on the field of battle to the coalitition. He found a lopehole in the surrender conditions where he used his attack helicoptors to kill thousands of his own people. 4.He tried to assassinate a former president of the United States. 5.He would hinder any progress we try to make with un inspectors searching for wmd's. 6. He was involved in the first WorldTradecenter Bombing witch killed 16 americans. 7. He paid 25,000 to the families of criminals that blew themslves up killing inocent people. I hope you get the point I am going after. He was a big problem in the middle east. And while I feel he was not directly involved in 9/11. He definatly was indirectly involved inspiring other criminal organization to committing crimes against Americans. So he had to GO!!
