Marijuana, cannabis, mary jane, the sticky icky. It goes by many names but one thing is for sure - it’s an awesome recreational and medicinal herb that is free from hangovers and sends you flying high within minutes after tokin’. We’ve all tried it or at least know someone who has, but not much is said about celebrities having a few puffs off the ole peace pipe. That’s where we come in. Browse below to check out some of the celebrities that have indulged in the forbidden herb in our latest feature - Celebrity Stoners.
Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt used to toke together according to a quote from Aniston in Rolling Stone magazine regarding the tabloids accusing them of having a drug problem: “You see something like that - me and my husband, hooked on drugs. Then you read the story, and it says you smoke pot. It’s not even cocaine or shooting heroin. Pot!”
Al Gore and Bill Clinton have both admitted to using. Gore was quoted as saying: “During my junior and senior year of college, it was looked at in the same way moonshine was looked at in Prohibition days.” Newsflash: It still is. Former president Clinton echoed the famous line: “When I was in England I experimented with marijuana a time or two, I didn’t like it, I didn’t inhale it, and never tried it again.” And you had no sexual relations with Miss Lewinski… come on Billy, we’re not all that stupid.
Bill Gates, the richest man on the planet, broke off a relationship with a former employee at a coffeehouse in Amsterdam. He was also arrested for a minor felony and the reasoning was never disclosed but more than likely it was due to having a small amount of cannabis on him.
Pierce Brosnan, best known for playing James Bond in four films, had photos of him snapped inside a headshop in Malibu, California that were published in The Star. Apparently he took his sweet time looking through all the pieces and finally decided on a $1,000 bong. I bet when the ladies come over to Brosnan’s pad he fixes them up a drink, shaken, not stirred, and then promptly whips out his premium bong for some high class toking.
Woody Harrelson, most famous for his role on the television show Cheers, not only smokes but has even helped produce a fine documentary on cannabis simply entitled “Grass.” He was also quoted as saying: “I do smoke, but I don’t go through all this trouble just because I want to make my drug of choice legal. It’s about personal freedom. We should have the right in this country to do what we want, if we don’t hurt anybody. Seventy-two million people in this country have smoked pot. Eighteen to 20 million in the last year. These people should not be treated as criminals.” Amen Woody, amen.
Steven King, a best selling author of numerous books, has had his fair share of the herb and has quite a progressive viewpoint on the matter: “I think that marijuana should not only be legal, I think it should be a cottage industry. It would be wonderful for the state of Maine. There’s some pretty good homegrown dope. I’m sure it would be even better if you could grow it with fertilizers and have greenhouses…”
Bill Murray was expelled from a pre-med program at Regis college for none other than toking marijuana. He most likely had one too many puffs when accepting his role in Groundhog’s Day. Or maybe not enough? The world may never know.
Montel Williams, host of the popular daytime talk show, Montel, uses marijuana to combat the extreme pain that comes with MS. He dedicated a whole show to why medical marijuana should be made legal for anyone who needs it. It’s a very powerful episode that would be near impossible to argue with and I highly suggest searching for it online and showing it to anyone and everyone.
Bill Maher, host of the popular political debate show Real Time with Bill Maher, not only uses but is on the advisory board of NORML (The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws). He regularly references his marijuana use on his show and echoed this line at a NORML conference in 2002, “I’m getting tired of being treated like a criminal or a second class citizen by people who through their preference for liquor or pills for mood alteration show not a superiority of taste but an inferiority.” You just have to admire a man who makes as much sense as Maher.
Two of the best jazz drummers of all-time, Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich, both took part in smoking the herb. They were each arrested for the petty “crime” of possession. While we’re on the topic of jazz, Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis were two extremely popular jazz musicians who used marijuana regularly. It’s probably safe to say that 90% or more of jazz musicians used marijuana at one time or another.
Jack Black, frontman of Tenacious D and star of several films, including the upcoming Tenacious D movie, was voted pot smoker of the year by High Times magazine. I imagine he needed quite a bit of green to get through the filming of The School of Rock.
An obvious and avid user, Steve-O, of Jackass and Wildboyz fame, has went to great lengths for his love of mary jane. He smuggled some white widow across the border by putting a nug in a condom and swallowing it, risking suffocation and then risking it getting stuck inside of him. This is all documented in his third and craziest video, Out On Bail.

Ugh... I hate pot. Never tried it, never will. The smell alone irritates me! Sorry, people. Hate me if you want but I personally dont condone it. I wont tell you to stop because its none of my business how you guys waste your lives, but I sure as hell stay away from stuff like that! I can go on with my life without having to be high on weed! Thank You all! ^-^

The host would insist that the interviewee take at least one small toke and then the audience would clap and go nuts. Then they'd start talking deeply about anything. Maybe there can be a scale on how high they are or different little perks to the show.
First I do believe we have to legalize this awesome plant.
Hope fully soon,

Also, Los Angeles is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY less conservative (if you can believe it) on dispensaries than the bay. I went to Sausalito and they were shutting down collectives left and right. In L.A., if you pay your taxes, the government really doesn't give much of a shit. Hell, they need the money these days.
Only problem with dispensaries/collectives is they'll manipulate the herb by labeling them with bullshit names like OG KUSH.
Put it like this, if they say it's OG KUSH of any kind, and it's below $65-75, they're full of shit. Yes, even you valley stoners who claim "I CAN GET OG FOR CHEAPER THAN $60 1/8TH" are absolutely full of horseshit. The bomb is expensive and you'll know it when you smell that beautiful, piney, danky scent and when you take that first hit, it's all worth it.
HAPPY TOKING AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

However, FriendsOfCannabis.com has been doing this since 2004.
Not only that. In 2005 Self-Hemployed entered FriendsOfCannabis as the VERY FIRST website EVER entered in the Cannabis Cup.
Of course Self-Hemployed was hoping, and maybe expected that in 2006 there would be a category 'Best Website' at the Cannabis Cup.
However, getting ripped by an editor of Hightimes Magazine was not.

The drug free ppl take it too seriously, they don't know we are just having fun... So for god sakes act normal, bathe, wear a tie even.. We'll fool 'em good.. hehe.. ;)
But anyways, yeah, I say we give them like 2 more years max to legalize it nation wide, if they don't, then I say we have like the million man march and shit for stoners, seriously, get a million stoners to go surround the white house, protesting, getting high and shit, make it a party and shit,...
I can see it now, woodstock 2008 coming at you from 1600 pensylvania(sp?) ave, its easy to say no to a bunch of face-less names on a ballot, but a little harder to say no to one million ppl on your front lawn.. :)
And btw, celebrities are the perfect ppl to have on our side, they have the fucking money to back the shit up,.
I don't know about yall, but I am poor from spending $500 a week on some weed.. Some dirt weed at that(which is why I have to spend so damn much(God I miss the chronic, my area aint had no dank for a grip now :( ))
Anyways, Im just an old pot head rambling on, so whatever I guess..
Peace
