Pot Penalties Harsher for Minorities
Wed, Mar 07, 2007 5:53 pm
March 7, 2007 --
Blacks and Hispanics are much more likely to be burned by the system when it comes to simple marijuana arrests, a new study shows.
Even though blacks and Hispanics each account for 25 percent of Gotham's residents, blacks accounted for 52 percent of misdemeanor arrests for possession of marijuana in public view, and Hispanics for 32 percent, the study said.
The report, covering more than two decades, was first debated last August, but is now going to be published, with updated statistics, in the journal Criminology and Public Policy.
Dr. Andrew Golub and his colleagues at the National Development and Research Institute said their study revealed that blacks and Hispanics "receive harsher treatment at each stage of the criminal-justice system."
Paul Browne, the NYPD's deputy commissioner of public information, called it a "flawed study" that was underwritten by a pro-marijuana legalization group.

arrests" and "Hispanics for 32 percent " involving pot . Why does that mean anything other than whites just weren't stupid enough to get caught ? The info on this story does not reflect the headline .....again .

The Other Song
Mar 9 2007, 5:51 am
Old pirates, yes, they rob I;
Sold I to the merchant ships,
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit.
But my hand was made strong
By the 'and of the Almighty.
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly.
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look? Ooh!
Some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfil de book.
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.
---
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfil de book.
Won't you help to sing
Dese songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever had:

These songs of freedom,
Songs of freedom.

Sail Away, Randy Newman
In America you'll get food to eat
Won't have to run through the jungle
And scuff up your feet
You'll just sing about Jesus and drink wine all day
It's great to be an American
Ain't no lions or tigers
Ain't no mamba snake
Just the sweet watermelon and the buckwheat cake
Ev'rybody is as happy as a man can be
Climb aboard, little wog
Sail away with me
Sail away
Sail away
We will cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay
Sail away
Sail away
We will cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay
In America every man is free
To take care of his home and his family
You'll be as happy as a monkey in a monkey tree
You're all gonna be an American
Sail away
Sail away
We will cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay
Sail away
Sail away
We will cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay
Those Apartheid oppressed South African "Kaffas" (sp?) were only "better off" because they knew their place over there. Our American black bretheren are way too American to live with "eyes turned down"!!!!

This is a lie, in direct contradiction of demographic data. Marijuana usage is within a couple percentage points of identical between white and black americans.
The U.S. is the most racist country in the western industrialized world. Black american males are far more likely to spend part of their lives in prison than blacks in South Africa under Apartheid.

ie. it would have meaning if it said, 15% of whites were sentenced to prison for this amount of pot, while 37% of blacks were sentenced to prison for the same amount of pot.

The venerable corporation was the originator and still the world's acknowledged best but sales had pretty much reached the saturation point. They'd needed to find new customers jsut to stay even!
Mortimer Quincy Snerd was on the traveling sales team when his Lincoln broke down on the road to Phoenix. The only place for miles happened to be a biker bar... where they didn't like his name very much.
After Morty got out of the hospital he presented his campaign idea to his mid-level manager. Those biker guys were ALWAYS getting hurt in bar fights, long achy rides and hangovers. It was untapped pastures of plenty!
Two-weeks later now it was a done deal. The new (OH NO!) "Bayer-in-skull" biker bar ad blitz was launched!

Now "Bear in mind" was a wussy civilian term which means to "remember this". But one night Sgt Walnuts dreamed of a term which instantly conjured up a macho-mental picture, which made for such an effective and powerful military memory-aid that the army actually adopted the term and put it into the official field manual! Now it goes by the simple letters BIS.
And everyone reading this already knows it means "bear-in-skull", don't you?

The primary manifestation of this debilitating condition was an excruciating pain in the frontal lobes area of the head. The Native American medicine men had a traditional name for this new white man's disease.
They called it, (wait for it, wait... okay), bear-in-skull.

For instance a red line on the graph verses a black line depicting the actual corresponding incidents over time to compare one to another.
I mean sure, its always been a drag to be pulled over as a part of some uniform's bad mood. But I'd like to know if its happening as much as in '46 or less and see the actual lines on the graph.
