Rest In Peace: Linda Senti, Activist and Wife of Eddy Lepp
Tue, Nov 27, 2007 10:55 am
We'll miss you.
From the Emperor Wears No Clothes:
Eddy Lepp and Linda Senti have been involved in the marijuana and hemp movement for quite some time now. Their dedication to this plant, that they feel is very sacred, is shown not only in their activism but in their day to day life. They use this plant in every way possible, from the food they eat to the clothes they wear, as a medicine and a sacrament.
Eddy Lepp is the first person arrested, tried, and acquitted under California's Medical Marijuana Law Proposition 215, but he is best known for his current legal problems. He is facing four federal life sentences for growing 32,524 cannabis plants in 2004 on his property right off of CA Highway 20. He was growing the plants for members of his cannabis ministry and thousands of California Prop 215 patients. In 2005 he was arrested again for 11,000 plants grown by his ministry. He is fighting these and other related charges under his religious right to use and grow his sacrament for himself and his ministry. Although he is facing federal charges, Eddy continues to support the movement by going to every event he can. He has even traveled outside of the United States on three separate occasions for Marijuana related events. The federal government reissued his passport too allow him to go - something that has never before happened in legal history.
Linda Senti is a three time cancer survivor who credits her consistent use of cannabis to saving her life. She has been a strong part of everything Eddy has done to fight the government for the right to grow their sacrament, as well as the entire inspiration for Eddy to grow in the first place. His first garden he was arrested for was for her because of her second bout with cancer. She has even gone so far as to pick up the fight when Eddy was forced not to grow. In 2006 she formed her own ministry and they planted a small garden and filed an injunction to force the government to allow her ministry to grow. She didn't get the injunction but her ministry did successfully harvest that year. She is now facing cancer once again and continues to smoke her cannabis faithfully and has already out-lived the Doctors expectations. She feels confident that she will beat the cancer again and has not allowed it to cause her to miss a step in her fight to legalize cannabis and hemp.
Eddy and Linda have formed a new ministry that combines all the medicines and sacraments. A multi-denominational ministry called TPEA, The Peoples Esoteric Adventure, an All Medicine Ministry. It will be dedicated to uniting the many churches that deal with the sacred herbs and plants.
