Dutch Customs Seize 19 Tons of Marijuana

Dutch customs officers have seized 19 tonnes of marijuana with a street value of 60 million euros ($A98 million) on a vessel in the port of Amsterdam.

The ANP news agency quoted authorities as saying the seizure was the biggest of the century.

Police arrested four people on suspicion of drug trafficking.

The unidentified ship was carrying a cargo of walnuts in containers. The drugs were hidden in jute bags in one of the containers.

what!?! I thought it was leagal over in the neverlands. But I suppose if it was going out of the country and the GOVERNMENT/MONEYGRUBBINGASSHOLETHIEVES!! where going to LOOSE THEIR MONEY I guese thats how the bust was justified. The Dutch play such a shell game. That dope was going to be sold legally in coffee shops. Growing pot in quantities is still illegal in the Netherlands, so the Dutch must rely on outlaws to give them a legally obtainable commodity. You can bet none of the arrested are middle-class Dutch nationals. Also what are the Dutch cops going to do with the dope now that they have it? Burn it in an open field? Or sell it for a profit to a legal outlet?

The four were arrested of suspicion of trafficking?? 17 tons of weed on a cargo ship pretty much screams trafficking to me. Or maybe they were taking a nice boatride with their personal stash. DUH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
