Cannabisworld.com and Overgrow.com Seized By Police

When the world's largest websites for cannabis growers and enthusiasts disappeared from the web on Monday, January 30, it was thought to be a server problem.

As the week dragged on, tens of thousands of members, seed company sponsors, growers and fans worried there might be more than mere 'server' problems as Richard Calrisian (a pseudonym) had not made any statements in any web based media about any 'technical' problems.

Now it appears Heaven's Stairway Seeds (hempqc.com), Cannabisworld.com, Overgrow.com, Eurohemp.com have been shut down and the owners arrested in Canada; all their web properties seized, including the physical servers that held massive databases on thousands of growers, and tens of thousands of photographs of cannabis plants. Seed companies by the dozens used both Overgrow.com and Cannabisworld.com as a main trading ground. Over 40 seed companies had customer service interactive forums on these sites.

All the information held on those servers is now in the hands of police. It is not known what charges have been laid nor against whom. That police have not boasted about this seizure means the investigation is continuing, before any affected parties can react.

Cannabis Culture began receiving emails on Wednesday saying Richard Calrisian and his wife had been arrested along with four employees, but this could not be corroborated.

On the website www.icmag.com, seed merchant Gypsy Nirvana, operating from England where cannabis seeds are legal, posted this news late Friday:

“It is with great sadness that I bring you the news that RC and HS, OG and CW have been taken down by the authorities in Canada.....

...I have it from a bonofide source that it happened on monday and RC's computers/servers have most probably been siezed, they spent 2 days going thru his house and removed alot of stuff ...

His wife and some members of his family were also taken into custody and it's possible that she may be released tommorrow on bail... There has not been a peep in the media about this so there could be a reason why it was not advertised by LEO......BE WARNED! not to try and log on to Overgrow or Cannaworld for now since most certainly the security of that site has been compromised and if it comes back up without me first hearing from RC then it is NOT being run by him.....think about it!

...This could bring up some real security issues with many Overgrow/Cannabisworld members.........be warned guys and do what you need to do to make it safer for all of you.......duck and cover if needs be....

When will these government numbnuts realize that this so called "war on drugs" is a losing battle. Instead of putting efforts into busting cannibus lovers, they should focuse on eliminating hunger/poverty and increasing social programs. The prohibition on alcohol was not successful because it was not supported by the majority. We will see the same outcome for the prohibition on cannibus.

OG has been undermined indeed. IP's are probably recorded, and since canadian officials did the deed, I suppose canadian IP's will be tracked primarily. Thoughs associated with high plant counts will most likely be tracked first. Then if they can convince a judge to give a serch warrant, they can and will barge into your home, and look at everysingle little thing you own, and will search your comp thouroughly, through and through. It was a general rule of thumb to not disclose any identifiable info of yourself on OG, and I can't remember if IP's were recorded. I suggest destroying all personal records, keep nothing except the memories. Theres to many OG'ers, they can't make em all criminals.

Finally a word about what happened. I thought it was a maintenance thing. Then I checked a stats website and saw it was down a long time. Then I knew what happened. A siege.

I am pissed. I like Overgrow Forums. Where are all of us to go now? is there a place other than Overgrow? yes there are other forums. Should we en masse subscribe to them fleeing from one resort to another?

One thing is certain and that is the main reason I am pissed. Forums where people like you and i discuss matters around growing weed should not be mixed with commercial seed banks and other merchandise that is illegal.
Would Overgrow still ne alive if it had no ties into the seed business? This is stupidity and asking for touble. At times I wondered why Overgrow alsted and why Emery can be atatcked for selling seeds but Overgrow was tolerated.

Next time, if Overgrow comes back, let's make sure there is no link whatsoever to any commercial enterprise that is illegal anywhere.

So what are we going to do now? Where am I going to find my friends? We are scattered to the wind? I am going to read all these comments and see if we can find a new place to gather for now.

THC is only contained in the plants resin glands. You know the clear sticky stuff you see in all of those HT pictures.
That is what hashish is made out of.The resin glands not the plant matter or mass. Thats what gets you high.Just ask those who use vaporizers. If you take a x30 power microscope(Raido Shack.$7.00 approx) and examine both sensimilla and seeded bud. You will discover that the highest concentration of resin gland is on the husk of the seed as well. This is how the plant protects itself and it's baby(seed) from the suns uv rays.
Having been a cannabis consumer myself since the 12th of January 1973. I very seriously doubt that the resin gland contained in 21 grams of the most potent bud-even if one was foolish enough to inject it-would kill you. At least not from toxicity anyway.
It may howerver clog an artery that could kill you.

On the news (just now) they say it's been proven that weed can cause cancer in the Bladder.
Well there's 2 People in a veterans hospital that have bladder cancer caused by heavy use. Only 2. Not a billion or more,just 2.

ANNON-Speaing to the information on wikpedia. I recall a story this week on msnbc(i think) about people being able to "hack" into the wikpedia site and make all sorts of edits to information there.
Example,making a congressman or senators age to be 180 rather than 80 etc.
If anybody or at least the computer wizards can go to the site and make these type of edits.Dosent that make the information there suspect.
I mean really,in todays anti-pot climate. One could be almost certain that some facsist-maybe dubya himself-would manipulate information about pot.

i hate to even think this, but it seems more and more true... i think the global pot situation will get worse before it gets better. i am not just a nay-sayer, or negative person, i just see the resistance even here in europe. even in amsterdam! there is a new government in place in holland and the pot atmosphere is changing, though the effects have not been felt in the 'dam. here in switzerland things have tightened over the past few years. fabled fields of swiss outdoor are a thing of the past. smoking, even discreetly in public is still highly tolerated, but not as much as it was in 2004 for example. then there still stores you could buy it from in sniff-sacks or potpourri, restaurants and bars you could smoke in, cafes and coffeeshops (just coffee, no herb) that were weed friendly. in trying to figure out what happened to OG.com i came across an article from australia talking about how they are pushing to crack down on lax pot laws there. this should not be the case. there are literally billions of cannabis users in this world. if we could somehow unite we would be the most influential political force ever known. if all american potheads would really get behind the cause, not just send $35 to NORML (iloveyounorml), we could easily change things. if every pothead could just change the opinion of just one pot opposer it would make a difference. think about it and do something!
