Each fall, throngs of cannabis connoisseurs flood Amsterdam for a chance to sample and vote on the best pot in the world at the HIGH TIMES Cannabis Cup. Now in its 19th year, the annual harvest festival has become an iconic event and important pilgrimage for high-minded people across the globe.

Also this year, in addition to deciding on the top pot, the Cannabis Cup entered the record books as the world's largest joint was smoked onstage. In keeping with the communal nature of the event, those in attendance helped consume the 200-gram behemoth.

We went 2 Amsterdam in sept.07 & it was great.We did our own tests,going to 25 coffeeshops,& trying their best.We picked Barneys G-13 Haze as the best smoke in the Dam.Other people must have agreed with us,as it won the 07 cup!!!The Willy Nelson(black vietnamese X Nepalease highland)weed was also great.It won A cup in 05,I think.Watch 4 DNA's Lemon Skunk in 08,Its A winner!C ya all @ the 08 cup!Peace!

let me clarify something. the waitress at barney's was rude intentionally to try and make us leave because barney's, like almost all coffeeshops in the dam, are very small and don't have many seats. anyone who has been there knows this already. they had already got our money, so they no longer had a use for us. this was a calculated business move. it was obvious this wasnt her idea, and it was obvious this wasnt the first time she had done this. it was obvious that it is management's policy to run off guests immediately after they stop buying shit. this is why they bribe the judges to get cups, so american tourists who think theyre going to smoke the best pot in the dam come in and get ripped off. they have to keep getting cups to sucker in new clintele because they have no repeat customers. there is good pot in the dam at de dampkring, anydays, katsu, etc. we had professional service at other shops, just not barney's. i have nothing against servers, women, or the dam. i just hate this scam "contest" and the rip off artists who are kept in business by it, i.e. arjan and derry. but hey, dont take my word for it, go see for yourself. in the meantime, for those of you who have never been there, stop acting like you know what the fuck you're talking about, just because you've read about the dam in high times.
