Marc Emery's Extradition Proceedings Postponed
Mon, Jan 21, 2008 3:33 pm
The B.C. Supreme Court put over until tomorrow the hearing at which time the proceedings are expected to be adjourned until Feb. 6 while negotiations and details of a plea bargain are worked out.
US federal prosecutors have charged Emery and two associates - Michelle Rainey and Greg Williams - with drug offences and money laundering for operating a global marijuana seed business.
All face a minimum 10-year sentence and the possibility of life if convicted in the U.S.
But under the proposed deal, Emery would plead guilty and apparently serve a minimum of five years behind bars, mostly in Canada.
In return, he is demanding the charges against his friends be dropped.
Assistant US Attorney Todd Greenberg in Seattle, where Emery was indicted in 2005, has so far declined to comment.
He was unavailable Monday because of the public holiday in the U.S.

First (not that I am free of guilt) you are sustituting gutter language for meanignful dialog. That indicates that you have nothing constructive to add.
Second, America regularly ignores people in other countries who break US law. For example, they know that companies profiting from NAFTA are also making profit from smuggling, but they do as little as possible to stop it, and no one in the upper levels ever gets charged.
They know that many companies are shipping tainted foods and other tainted goods into the U. S., and they know who these companies are for the most part.
Going after Marc Emery could not have less to do with the seeds he sold, but clearly has everything to do with the fact that he distributed that profit to activists and organizations to fight prohibition.
The proof is that there are dozens of companies all over the world who to this moment ship seeds into the U. S. and have been. The piggies are not doing anything to extradite them.
SP, I do not buy your rant. This is all about politics and not whether Marc shipped seeds into the U. S.

Let’s not to forget to add that they operated in their country where it is legal to do what they were doing and therefore did nothing wrong. Let’s also not forget how incompetent the United States Customs Department is. They will, let most anything in to the US from tainted food for both human and pet consumption, lead in toys for kids, and my seeds from Amsterdam.
I agree with the first poster. Canada’s government should have the balls to tell the US to “Fuck Off”, if only they weren’t a bunch of pussies.

I wish our Federal Government would mind it's own business. But as a U.S citizen under this type of Government (that I don't really care for) I have seen how they work. They use the "old saying" with other countries.
