The Drug Free America Foundation's Online Poll

Mon, Mar 10, 2008 4:53 pm

The Drug Free America Foundation is currently running an online poll that asks Web surfers whether they “agree,” “strongly agree,” “disagree,” “somewhat disagree” or “strongly disagree” with the statement “Drug use is a victimless crime.”

The results thus far indicate a whopping majority “Strongly disagree” and believe “a drug user endangers every person they come in contact with.”

Perhaps this poll would be more accurate if folks who don’t normally visit the Drug Free America Foundation’s Web site cast their vote.

Keep in mind this is an anti-drug site (they tell readers “Marijuana is not only harmful, but addictive and potentially deadly…It is scientifically proven to lead to the use of harder drugs.”) so if you have an aversion to disinformation, consider yourself warned.

If you’d like to let the Drug Free America Foundation know your stance on the subject, click here and vote.

reading all these comments from these blessed stoners is inspiring. i think its great that weve got all these open thinking minds on this website, when the other people are blindly voting that the bud kills you. thats kinda proof in itself that it cant be bad for you... something needs to be done man.

I've been doing a lot of research on the positives and negatives of everyday marijuana use. I've been smoking almost everyday for the past five years, and I wanted to see if it affected my health. Yeah, I forget some stuff from time to time, but I don't "black out" like I do when I drink a lot. I can still operate a car, even though I shouldn’t legally. I can get up in the morning, and go to work without feeling like shit.

The only reason our country hates it so much, is because the older generations were told that it makes people crazy, and dangerous. Watch "Reefer Madness", it is the perfect example of government propaganda.

I think the only way we, (USA), will ever see it "legal", is to get our country into debt so bad, that they will just have to tax the shit out of it. Think about it, same prices, just taxed. The clubs can stay in business growing for the government, and our economy would be one of the greatest in the world. Farmers in the mid-west could continue to grow it, with out worrying about losing all of their worldly possessions, and serving jail time. That and our police force could concentrate on catching real criminals, like murderers, and sex offenders. Our prisons would also clear out making room for such criminals.

The Dutch have it right by decriminalizing. Their crime rate is a lot lower than ours. I'm ready to buy a one-way ticket to Amsterdam, and enjoy the rest of my life worry free.

I dont give a damn what all these propaganda and misinformation sites say. "The truth shall set you free!" is my motto and I know the truth. Marijuana is actually GOOD for you! Fuck what anyone else say. Ima smoke until i fucking die, on my last breath I will inhale marijuana and make my way into my own heaven, weed heaven.

As a young adult, it really disheartens me that the government is conscientiously and purposefully lying to not only our youth, but every person who has not experimented or been around marijuana. It makes me not only distrust the government, but the police. At one point in my childhood I thought that the police were the "good guys" and the drug users were the "bad guys," but as I grew up I realized that the supposed bad guys were actually nice people, especially us potheads, which led to my lack of trust in law enforcement. It makes me sad that the people of this nation have allowed baseless fears to take away personal freedoms.
All of this is because I just went to the website mentioned above, and was appalled by what the government is telling the public, and what's worse is that it is just a system of control, there is no REAL reason to not legalize pot, every scientific study has shown this, so I think the real questions we all need to ask ourselves is; why are we being lied to? why do the "good guys" lie? and what the fuck happened to our civil liberties?

WTF

Apr 22 2008, 2:24 am

Jeebus.

I started to ask "How can they be so deluded" when the obvious answer appeared. They aren't that deluded.

They're intentionally lying.

Someone needs to do some due diligence to find out where their funding comes from. I bet we'll see police officer associations and the pharmaceutical industry. Follow the money.

I was being half sarcastic and half realistic. Find where the smoke is (excuse the pun) and you find the fire. Just for your info, the ONDCP has been found to have left cookies on the computers to track the sites they visit. It wouldn't be farfetched for this group to do the same and for the unknowledgable and naive to not be aware of it and have the foresight to clear their cookies. We are in a brave new world and it would behoove one to not underestimate their enemies. Remember, their jobs are at stake and while this poll is not incriminating, it is smoke to be investigated...and you know what they say, "if it catches even one pot head then...

welll,

Apr 5 2008, 4:18 pm

if thats true, we still have our guns!! hey... where are my guns? oh, I guess I don't have any... but I know Jujitzoo or whatever, I watch UFC! ok, maybe I'm not great at that yet but hey, what if I learn to run fast? no, then they'd just "release the hounds!!" welll,,,... uhhhh,,,,..... maybe,..... uhhh..........
uhhh, welll..... I'll just get it on film and make sure someone gets sued or fired or investigated or beat up by gangsters or somthin', they aren't invincible! but you'd probably end up with more charges if you fight them,..... soooo,,,.... make it count! get away if you fight! or maybe pull a " hey whats that behind you!?!" trick and run...also, keep asking questions, the right ones. what am i saying, none of this shit will ever happen, it'll be fine, filling out a poll isn't evidence for conviction.

But I'm not gay. does anyone know how to hack/fuck up a website? do it to this one, the one in the link, these fuckers are talking so much shit about pot that I wanted to hack and destroy it myself, you can leave the page with the poll if you want, but fuck up the rest of it, trust me, they deserve to have their shit fucked up. If you click on the "marijuana" link, click the links next to it and read some of this shit they are saying about pot, and you'll probably be as mad as me, so PLEASE mysterious hacker, hack away and shut down that bullshit spin site, they won't track you, and if you think they will then do it from the library or something, but please, get it done, fuck these fuckers up!!!

follow that same link to get to that dumbass propaganda site, then click on the thing that says "drug policy", besides angrying up my blood it had a clickable map thing with states that have marijuana bills and has links to the senators emails, encouraging people to email them to stop the bills, well let's turn that around on them too, lets email them telling them to support those bills listed, this is a great way to directly support legalization!! please write your emails well, we dont want to sound stupid, put the blunt down just for a second, don't get me wrong, its worth your attention. email! Inhale! I'm listening to cypress hill! But anyway, I'm serious, you can email them telling them to support these bills in your state, maybe in the other states too if you have time, But really, Do it, cause at least one dumb old bitch is gonna write to them saying pot is bad, so we gotta show 'em that pot laws are wrong and we support change!!

I was just at that site and voted. I must say it is scary to say the least that we have to share this beautiful planet with so many completey ignorant morons. Do these people really beleive the horse shit that site spews out. It makes me sick. It says in the Bible of all places : Then God said, " I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole Earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it, they will be yours for food and to all the beasts of the Earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move on the ground, everything that has breath of life in it , I give every green plant and herb. Also that nothing that passes through my mouth into my body can be sinful, only what comes out of my mouth can be sin. That is all I need to know.

the answers to the poll are all mixed up: agree, disagree, somewhat disagree, strongly agree, strongly disagree.

the poll would be more straightforward if it included yes or no answers and if the order of the answers made sense.

so far, the majority disagree by a substantial margin, tho.

That site is so not accurate! Pot doesnt make you short winded like cigerettes. Most of the chemicals they are talking about, comes from the paper used to smoke pot. If it was so dangerous, why does certain states give it to cancer patients? (so they can die faster?) What ever! I hear about alcohol and heroin killing users each year. How many deaths occured in 2007 from too much pot smoke? Ha! Good luck finding that answer!

To Interesting:
I read that article, and it seems like it's been created by those who either want the THC pill, or some other synthetic form of the cannibinoids. To me, that makes it seem like a "big pharmacy" wrote it, as most of the big pharmacies want marijuana to stay illegal since they wouldn't be able to stake claim in it through patents.

I also agree with you both Redwolf and Jay. One of the reasons I asked them why they don't have the death rates of mary jane compared to even aspirin(which according to the "war on drug" log is 100 a year, not including intentional overdose). It's highlarious to me that as long as the government says it's ok, (aka are making a huge profit from it)then it's not considered a "threat" to most of these anti drug campaigns. I too hate it when they lump drugs together into one big group. My father (whom I never met until I was 15)got into cocaine in a bad way, and it seriously messed up his head. He got serious paranoid delusions that everyone was against him, etc. But yet, I myself smoked marijuana on a regular basis for about the past 4 years, have never ever smoked a cigarette, drink occasionally, and I was able to push myself through college and finish with a 3.88 GPA and get my Associates of Applied Science in Multimedia.

But I guess since I smoke marijuana and drink on occasion that makes me a "threat". Oh, those "victimless crimes"...

jay

Mar 11 2008, 3:20 pm

I dont like how they dont have much information on oxycotten and other legal opiates when those actually can kill people from an overdose. They do however have pages and pages of bullshit on marijuana that they claim is facts. They talk about drug dealers lacing there weed with pcp and coke so people get more addicted to them and come back for more.

RedWolf in Colorado

Mar 11 2008, 1:18 pm

What kind of “Drug Use” are they talking about? In my view:

Caffeine is generally OK. Nicotine, or rather smoking tobacco is bad. Heroin and Cocaine is bad. Weed is OK. Alcohol can be bad...etc…

I just hate it when people lump all drugs together like that. We all use drugs and now we discover they are in our water supply…

What I wrote, duex!:

I am also disturbed about your site claiming that a person who smokes marijuana (I believe you stated 5 marijuana cigarettes a week) takes in as much toxins as a person smoking one pack of cigarettes a day,yet again you show no proof or even a refrence to the "studies" you received your information from. I have also found quite a few fallacies in your facts concerning drug use in the Netherlands as well. Until these false truths (or as I like to think of them, the "reefer madness propaganda truths")are cleared with direct refrencing to each study you received your information, as well as the factors of each study, I myself as well as my family and aquaintences will be boycotting this site, and also will let others know the REAL truths, and not the "truths" of your thinly veiled lies.

Thank you for your time.

Think that'll get their attention? i'm making sure not to put my name or anything so I don't end up on their hit list. xD

Thy Ginava Ninjalette

Mar 11 2008, 2:15 am

What I wrote, part 1:
I was curious as to why you have so many "factual" scientific studies, yet you have absolutely no refrences to which studies you are quoting, nor do you have any of the other factors concerning these studies. Also, you say that marijuana is harmful, yet you do not specify how many people have died from this plant, especially in comparison to other drugs, including household drugs such as aspirin. You also say that marijuana has no medicinal value? try telling that to a person who seen their grandfather almost die from an oxycontin overdose (his doctor prescribed him a higher dosage than he should have)after being diagnosed with cancer, and was witness to the fact that the only thing keeping him from misery and really alive due to controlling his nausea was marijuana.
