HARTSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- It's not to the Batcave -- but the pot cave.

Tennessee drug investigators say they've busted a pot growing operation in the Hartsville area that looks like something out of a Hollywood action movie.

According to prosecutors, the cave beneath a stylish A-frame home was equipped with sophisticated gear for lighting, irrigation and even humidity control.

The cave was reached by secret entrances from the house or through a tunnel big enough for a car.

Police say the underground pot farm could produce 100 pounds of high-quality weed every couple of months.

Tennessee authorities report arresting three suspects.

Can someone please get it through to these brilliant authorities "dope", in the actual world. Is used for Heroin. "Dopers" therefore having absolutely no meaning, and, essentially just one shouting from the rooftops their degree of ignorance.

The electrical engineer who designed most of the setup was BRAGGING about what he had done when they cut him a deal for talking. He's only getting 18 years and he has the possibility of getting out sooner. Personally, I think this guy was a fucking genius... and he's damn near getting off with just a slap on the hand! Wow, that's all I can really say.

Stealing electricity is a big, big NO NO!! Add that in to the mix with the whole setup (which was nice and well hidden, shitty looking weed tho) and you have a big jail term ahead of you (not in canada tho). If i were them, they seemed like they had a lot of money to begin with, I would have used generators.. i mean why not? You have a giant fucking hydraulic press.. I guarantee you if they had used only generators, it would have never been busted.

I live very close to this area where this happened, and I must say it was awesome, those guys that designed and built it, damn sure had some brains. What sucks is the man that was there at the house willingly showed the pigs where the hidden access door was to the cave from the garage, it was a 5 ton steel door, that worked on a remote control. It was also hidden by a fake wall. If that were me I wouldn't have told them shit, for damn sure wouldn't have showed them. I grew up learning that you keep your damn mouth shut, and if you go down you go down alone. I think that guy ought to have the shit beat out of him. They could have searched that house all day long and never found the entrence, that is how elaborate it was. I used to smoke pot years ago, but now I don't for health reasons, but I am for legalization. Keep on tokin and have a nice day..

im not against growing your own and selling to a couple friends to cover costs of the project, but these dumb mother fuckers were growing hundreds of pounds every couple of months, and hiring mexican workers, this is a full scale commerical operation not someones personal garden, they were doing it for profit.

All three are in jail, with Gibson and Compton being held in the Trousdale County Jail. Bail was set for Gibson and Compton at $5 million, while Strunk's was set at $15 million, Thompson said. Local authorities were in Florida on Saturday to return Strunk to Tennessee.

The investigation began about five years ago when a home was built above the cave, but it never appeared anyone lived there, Thompson said.

"The front of the cave used to be a hole that you'd crawl into, and it opened up into a pretty big room that was 20-feet high. They cut the side of the hill so you could just drive right into the cave," he said.

The cave, reached from the house via secret entrances, is said to be about two miles long, but the marijuana operation was located about 100 yards inside. Thompson said the other end of the cave had been blocked to keep trespassers out.

According to the prosecutor, the men told locals they were going to be mining statuary rock.

To harvest the illegal crop, Thompson said the men would hire a half-dozen Hispanic workers in Arizona and drive them to Tennessee. For part of the journey the windows on the van would be covered so the workers did not know where they were.

"They would drive right into the cave and let them out to begin working," Thompson said
