Willie Nelson Charged With Drug Possession

Louisiana State Troopers have charged Willie Nelson and members of his band and touring entourage with possession of mushrooms and marijuana. Louisiana State Police say they stopped Nelson's tour bus to conduct a Commercial Vehicle Inspection on the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near milepost 110 near Breaux Bridge, in St. Martin Parish.

They say when the door was opened and the trooper began to speak to the driver, he smelled the strong odor of marijuana in the bus. After smelling this, Troopers conducted a search of the bus and found approximately 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana and approximately two-tenths of a pound of psychedelic mushrooms on the bus.

Troopers took the driver out of service. The following people were charged with possession of mushrooms and possession of marijuana: Tony Sizemore, 59, of St. Cloud, Fla.; Willie Nelson, 73, of Spicewood; Nelson's sister Bobbie Nelson, 75, of Briarcliff; Gates Moore, 54, of Austin; and David Anderson, 50, of Dallas.

All were issued misdemeanor citations and released.

sorry dude, it's sad but true. Nobody buys that much herb for personal use, except willie nelson you know hes always blazing. Yeah it sucks alot of us have been seriously fucked with much less herb. But look at it this way, willie is doing everything he can to beat the Herb Laws. I just got busted in Louisiana about thirty miles from where they pulled him over. I had 6 small plants and about a half pound of mexican schwag. They threw me in jail for 4 days before I could make the $76,000 bond. I told the truth, that the pot was personal. It really was. They told me, "no one buys that much for personal. It will go molded before you can smoke it all." They said that their pot that sits in their evidence lockers, turns molded after months. I told them that if you open up the bag and take a bud out everyday, like I do, you let the moisture out and it wont mold. Of course, they believed what they wanted to and charged me with intent to distribute. I had no scales or baggies around, but they say "no one buys that much for personal." If no one buys that much for personal, why did they consider willie's weed personal? They even put me on the news for 6 small plants (all under a foot). I know I was wrong for growning marijuana in redneck country, but do I really deserve jail time? Im just another 21 year old, university student that will never be elgible for financial aid again. I guess I fucked up, but do I really need to go to jail?
