Marijuana Grow House Bill Making Progress in Florida Legislature
Wed, Mar 05, 2008 11:55 am
As one agent told Action News investigative reporter Matthew Schwartz, "The information is the house is loaded, the whole house."
When no one answered the front door, agents, armed with a search warrant, broke it open. Inside, they found 230 marijuana plants, and an elaborate electrical set-up, allegedly used to cultivate the plants' growth.
A 40 year-old man who lived in the house returned while the raid was going on. He was arrested and charged with intent to distribute marijuana. This has been a regular occurance in South Florida over the past two years.
This week, Florida lawmakers will take another step towards passing a law that would make the penalties tougher for running a grow house.
Right now, it's only a third-degree felony if fewer than 100 plants are seized. The new law would make it a second-degree felony for getting caught with at least 25 marijuana plants, meaning mandatory jail time.
The bill has already passed one House committee, and is being presented to another tomorrow.
The bill's House sponsor, Rep. Nick Thompson (R, Fort Myers) says he expects the bill to become law and take effect on July 1, 2008.

Given that a lethal dose is said to be 3/4 ton (1500 lbs), consumed in 15 mineutes.
Well hell there should be no limit. Who is to determine what is a really great stash?
I mean check out a great wine collection for example.
See what I mean?

230 plants is well over the pounds required to get charged with the biggest offenses, if my memory serves me correct. Not the most extreme, but it qualifies.

Do you really feel sorry for people who commit the most serious offenses in any case of law? It sucks when someone gets busted going 3mph over but who gives a shit when a drunk driver going 115 gets pinched? A bar fight arrest is pretty stupid and shitty for the most part, but someone beating someone to death and getting caught is definately not on the good list for santa anymore, nor going to get any cries from me. My heart bleeds for no one who sees it coming and continues to do so.
It is all relative. People should enjoy their exploitations and advantages, but dont be surprised when the cops let you know that it is still in fact ILLEGAL. Shit happens... in mass.

Come on, anyone here thats honest enjoys the getting away with a little somthing feeling-eh?
It has always been part of the kinship in my social arena.
Yea, we all been busted a time or two. Done time too. Just part of the cannabis consumer lifestyle.
Sucks yes. Seems that the day when tens of thousands or millions of cannabis consumers rise and claim their rightful place within our society will never occur however.

Secondly, I know where my weed comes from and it definitely doesn't come from someone who is exploiting prohibition to make a profit.
Look at all the fuckin Drug Cartels that make money off of drugs..do you think they want drugs to become legal? of course they don't! Neither do people who have two hundred fuckin plants in their house who don't pay any taxes. I agree that drug laws in this country need some changing but to ask me to have sympathy for someone who is making money off of how screwed up the laws in this country are is just horse shit.
People that due get busted for growing small amounts for personal use usually do so because someone rats them out or they made some mistake. Very rarely do cops use actual "police work" to figure out someone has a few plants in their closet.
So fuck you big bad baby fuck face. You are great at twisting around what other people say and have always been good at it, based on every other bull-shit post I've read of yours on here.
Go ahead and flame with all your various aliases you use on here, I don't care.

okla420: youre so full of shit. most growers grow for personal use, including most of the ones who get busted. and so what if he was growin for sales? where do you think everyone gets their weed from? someone has to grow n sell the shit. you act is if you smoke, but then you say "its all his fault he got busted" when its really the unconstitutional, immoral drug laws themselves. so are you a hypocrite or a poser?
avoiding detection only depends on the second half of what u said. this guy just told some half assed friend his business.
