A group advocating a medical marijuana bill in Minnesota said Tuesday that it will run ads to counter what it says are false law-enforcement arguments against the measure.
The group, the Marijuana Policy Project, said three ads will be posted on the Internet and a fourth will run on television statewide. They are designed to allay fears that medical marijuana increases youth access to marijuana, that there is no proven medical value to using medical marijuana, and that there is no support in the medical community for medical marijuana.
"You have certain aspects of the law-enforcement community who are vocally advocating against this bill. We hear certain legislators and the governor's office saying they are not inclined to support his bill based on the words of law enforcement. So we thought it was important to see what law enforcement is saying," said Neal Levine, state director of the group.
Law enforcement officials such as Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom and Minnesota Public Safety Commissioner Michael Campion have consistently testified against medical marijuana measures, raising concerns about the medical value of the drug and whether a bill opening up its use would be subject to abuse.
The TV ad features an Ely, Minn., resident, K.K. Forss, who has used marijuana illegally to combat chronic pain caused by a ruptured disk and nerve damage from subsequent surgeries. When he has used marijuana, obtained from friends, muscle spasms were alleviated and he has been able to sleep, he said. It has taken away the side effects of other medications, he said.
A bill that would allow some patients in Minnesota to use medical marijuana has been resurrected this year and awaits a floor vote, which has yet to be scheduled. The bill would not legalize marijuana. But it would allow patients who qualify to possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana and to receive similar amounts on a regular basis from groups set up to dispense the drug. The measure passed the Minnesota Senate last year but did not receive a House vote.
Echoing concerns from law enforcement, Gov. Tim Pawlenty has said he is not inclined to support the bill.

We can all help by posting on regular (non marijuana based) news and discussion forums. Take the knowledge you gain here and from groups like NORML and repost to educate the average American.
Thats the key !!!
PS Post facts not your opinions to be taken most seriously

so he hooked up monkeys to smoke for over ten minutes straight at a time, without air the breathe, in order to destroy brain cells... it worked
...the govnt got what it wanted
years later, the piece of shit then lost his medical license because of his practices
lets see what else:
it does not affect hormones like they love to say even though that was disproven a long time ago
cannabis is less toxic than drinking redbull (you actually COULD overdose on energy drinks before ever overdosing on weed) and no one in the history of mankind has ever overdosed on cannabis or else it would have been added as a possible negative side effect
it does not cause physical addiction (although you could get about as addicted to weed as you would to eating potato chips every day!)
oh and the stuff actually fights cancer, yes thats right FIGHTS
studies were done ten years ago to see if the thing about marijuana smoke containing more carcinogens than those found in tobacco was true (because the us government has to continually find "new research" that proves marijuana is bad bad bad)
what they found was that the people who smoked weed weren't getting cancer and that people who smoked cigarettes and weed were getting cancer less often than people who only smoked cigarettes
so various groups did MORE studies, because this couldn't possibly be right.... right!?!?!
so they gave rats various typse of cancer and gave them thc and guess what! the thc had effects ranging from slowing down the cancerous growth, all the way to completely killing it, and this goes for several types of cancer that were tested , not just lung cancer
there is no valid and current research that show any negative side effects of cannabis use
unfortunately old books cannot be unprinted and so idiots can still quote them and act like the wrong facts are correct
the one other thing I have to point out is the fact that every time a study is done to try to make cannabis look bad, there is never evidence only loose correlations (that one could make with anything - if you know statistics you know exactly what i mean)
more recently scientists have been focusing on mental health problems cannabis "could," and i quote "could" have
usually there is some small association like they will have people with mental problems smoke weed and then say things like it "could" lead to psychosis" then you see news articles stating "weed proven to lead to psychosis"
if some people would actually read the articles then do research and read the damn reports. then they'd realize there is never any hard evidence
if there ever was ANYTHING cannabis could hurt in humans, it would have already been found and the governments would be using it against cannabis legalization
as a proponent of cannabis legalization I do not believe we can give anything to the anti cannabis people
don't ever say well it "could" be bad
people who are against weed either never smoked it or they were exposed to people who were on the lower rung of society who just so happed to smoke weed.
people aren't lazy because they smoke weed
its just that lazy people love weed and people who are pieces of shit love weed too
but heres the crazy part: good people who contribute to society - people with kids and a tax paying job
people who have graduated from college
people who help others
family friends
people from all walks of life enjoy cannabis, but it is the traditional lazy stoner that everyone thinks about when they think of cannabis and that has got to change

I was wondering if anyone might know where I could find something on the web that came on mtv in the early nineties? I haven't been able to find it. Their were old guys in suits, and one old guy says "you claim mtv as your source" and as rump shaker is being played in the background, another old guy says "boom-a-boom-a-boom and a zoom zoom?" and another old crotchety guy said "whats it mean?" I might have it on a cd somewhere, but haven't found it yet, and its kind of bugging me...:)
