Ill. Man Goes to Jail for Taking Dog, Getting It High

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) -- A Plainfield man has been sentenced to 60 days in the DuPage County Jail for stealing a $1,500 Pomeranian puppy and blowing marijuana smoke into its face until it passed out.

Circuit Judge John Kinsella warned 19-year-old Emanuel Lopez that he would subjected to frequent drug testing while serving 30 months probation after being released from jail.

Lopez pleaded guilty in May to stealing the puppy from a Naperville store. The dog was returned to the store three days later and has since been adopted.

His alleged abuse of the puppy was brought up during Wednesday's sentencing as an aggravating factor in the theft.

Kinsella told Lopez the "bottom rung of humanity" abuses animals for amusement.

UNFORTUNATELY THIS TRIGGERS ONE OF HER MEDICAL ISSUES - AMYOLODOSIS CAUSING HER TO RUN HIGH FEVERS WHICH LAST FOR 3 DAYS SOMETIME. THOSE NORMALLY ONLY OCCUR IF SHE EATS THE POT. THIS DOESN'T STOP HER FROM GETTING IN THE ASHTRAY LOOKING FOR THE ROACHES!! I'M AN ANIMAL LOVER - LOVE TO RELAX W/MY DOG BUT YOU JUST NEVER KNOW HOW AN ANIMAL WILL REACT. yo i live in colorado a state which is mainly populated by hippies and yuppies who all love animals and own several per household and almost everyone i know gets there animals high dogs cats even have a friend who has a parocite that smokes joints .. i know its the coolest fucking thing ive ever seen its time for the people of amrica to stand up for there rights instead of sitting there talking about this the kid should be charged for theft but getting the animal high theres no crime there sorry just another way for our government to take more peoples rights away and drain us of more money from fines and court cost when were in a recesion and people are struggling more than ever fuck the government dem and republicans stand up amrica stand up for your human rights we have the powere not the government we give them there power and we can take it back just as easily ..time for a change hopefully we can make that change

Stories like this are the things that get on the news and what people see. this is why cannabis is not legalized. The people who see stories like these see that when people get high they do stupid and harmful things. But most of us know that this is not true and cannabis is actually something that can help sick people and with cannabis being legalized the cultivation of hemp would be able to happen in the US which would help the farm industry out and the environment with hemp having 1000 or more uses that are "green". What really needs to happen is we need not to show the people and media that cannabis is harmful to humanity but that it and hemp can lead to a better environment and world.

Although how do we know thats animal abuse. Just cause it passed out doesnt mean it was abused, it could mean it had a lot of smoke blown in it's face or it was really good shit.

My Dog loves to get high. Whenever i sit down to smoke my dog digs his nose between my legs so he can spread them apart and sit down in front of me. Then I'll just puff and well both get high. I dont think he passed out but one time me and a friend of mine sat down to smoke some bowls and my dog went from one of us to the other trying to follow the smoke untill he eventually got baked and went to lay on the couch in the living room.

Dog loves to get high,
but I would NEVER abuse my animal like that.
You dont blow smoke in its face until it passes out,
thats just awful.
My dog has eatin my bag over a dozen times,
I have to lock up my brownies to.
Thinking that your pet would be awesome as a stoner is actualy bad because weed is expensive, and your pet most likely isnt throwing down some cash for the next bag.
