Drug Czar: Getting High Hurts Your Video Gaming Skills
Mon, Mar 09, 2009 2:20 pm
Source: huffingtonpost.com
The White House Drug Czar's office has tumbled through a cascading set of warnings about the dangers of marijuana over the years. The drug that once would fry your brain or lead to heroin addiction has recently been downgraded to a cause of sloth.
The softer ads argue that while it might not kill you, pot will make you a couch potato and a good-for-nothing loser.
Now, the Drug Czar Office (currently run by acting chief Ed Jurith) is going one further: not only will marijuana sink you into hours of wasted time on your couch, you won't even be any good at video games while you're sitting there.
"Getting high affects your brain in ways that may directly influence your gaming ability," warns the Drug Czar's Web site, citing the impairment of "many of the skills required for winning a background, defeating an opponent, [and] beating games."
To dramatize how bad a stoner can be at video games, the site interviews a computer-generated character who laments the demise of a gamer friend of hers. "I used to have a good time with Lyle. We made a good team. He had skill. He had swiftness," she says. "Well, he used to, anyway. Then our last fight, Lyle decided to get high. And it was simply: sayonara skill, sayonara swiftness."
The 2009 budget allocates $100 million for the Drug Czar's media campaign.

Drugs don't destroy people's lives, the laws do; drugs don't change, people do.
Jail does not cure addictions and those with addictions need help through public health service.
Prohibition culture strengthens the black market and is open to criminal enterprise.
LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition-AskLEAP.org) says legalize all drugs. At least it will prevent 9 year olds from getting their hands on it and decrease crime.
A drug lord's main source of income is anything that is illegal and will do anything to protect their product and sell to whomever need be.
Do you really want your children growing up around that?
Me personally think anything that is a part of nature should be legal, whether it is cannabis, shrooms, peyote, etc.
Psychedelics are medicine for the mind and soul and is not for everyone; only people that prepare for it should be granted to consume the substance, very much like shamans have been doing for centuries.
It is time to educate and regulate!

Questions about Mexican border media coverage?
For years the Anti-drug Crusader has accused drug users of causing property crime, violence, and even murder. Unfortunately he reverses cause and effect, it is drug laws that greatly increase the incidence of crime, they are responsible for a considerable amount of all property crimes. In order to protect you from the so called "evils of drugs", the Anti-drug Crusader has put your property and personal saftey at the mercy of desperate drug addicts. With his warped sense of justice he considers drug use worse than property crime. Making drugs illegal greatly increases their price. The drug addict has an insatiable desire will suffer severe physical and psychological withdrawals if not satified. The only way he can obtain enough money is stealing anything he can turn into cash. Ironically, the harder government cracks down on the drug trade, the higher the price goes, and the more the drug addict has to steal, resulting in large sums of money being transferred from property owneers and insurance companys to drug lords. Most drug addicts don’t steal because its inherant in their nature, they steal because of the detrimental effects of these laws.
The Anti-drug Crusader points to violent crime in the illegal drug business. He acts as if violence is a natural part of this industry. He delights in demonstrating how drugs and violence go together. Why is this so? Why don’t we hear of violence in the clothing, medical, friut, or cosmetic industries? Why don’t we see storys about competing hamburger places shooting it out on the streets? The answer is simple: these products are legal.
Outlawing drugs causes massive problems. The participants in the drug market are now threatened with fines and imprisonment. what could be a harmonious trade is now filled with tension and antagonisiom. The participants are wary of each other , distrust in each exchange is now the rule. Violence soon follows, resulting in drug(law) related murders.
Disagreements among legal business can be taken to legal institutions and solved without violence. Drug dealers, being considered criminals, have no such recourse, so they must deal with their problems without these benefits. This places them in the role of prosecuter, defense, judge, etc. They must dispense justice themselves. As you can see government has forced drug dealers to become violent by failing to provide legal protection and forcibily interfearing with their exchanges.
U.S. government in collusion with the mainstream media(FOX news, ad nauseum) as Anti-drug Crusaders, preys on the prejudices of the common man. They know that the first step in paralyzing man's desire to seek the truth and justice is confusing and posining his mind. Propaganda is one of his favorite weapons because it replaces the truth. Once things reach an emotional state of hysteria and fear, reason takes a permanent vacation

How much more out of touch can they get with America's youth? Plenty more, apparently.
Again, once teens realize that weed DOES NOT hinder your ability to do something, they will continue to distrust our government and wonder what else they're lying about.
If anything, weed helps me to hyperfocus on any given task, including playing video games, plus it relaxes me, so I only play THAT MUCH BETTER.

I suffer from diabetic neuropathy, down my left side from the top of my rib cage, all across my lower back, and in both legs. The MAN(read:US Government) doesn't want me on NATURAL MEDICINE that is hardy and can grow pretty much anywhere with a little sun,a little water, and a little food...Oh no,they want me to take ALL of the following "GOOD" medicine, from the "GOOD" suppliers of "QUALITY" pharmaceuticals:
MS Contin-60mgs-2x daily(Morphine)
Lortab 10/500mgs-5x daily(Codeine/Acetaminophen)
Neurontin 400mgs-3x daily(Gabapentin-My Dr. wanted me to go up to 12 DOSES a day from 9,as my pain has been steadily increasing.I told him no,I wasn't putting that much of anything in my body. Then,I slowly started scaling my dose back, and now I'm down to 3 daily...Sure,the pain is hell, but I have to wonder how much worse my health would be after just a year of 4800mgs a day of this stuff, not to mention that much of this "WONDER" drug will make you feel like a zombie, making it impossible to get anything done)
Reglan 10 mgs-3x daily(Metoclopramide-to help my stomach keep working correctly, even with 120mgs a day of Morphine in it....As a sidenote, this is ending:There is NO WAY I'm going to keep taking something than can cause irreversible Parkinson's-like tremors and shakes)
Vasotec 2.5mgs-1xdaily(Enalapril-No,I don't have high blood pressure...Being a diabetic, the Dr. prescribed this to help keep my kidneys flushed from all of the toxins that build up from the other meds...HIS WORDS,not mine)
Of course,I could get by on much less of the harmful medicine if I only had the RIGHT to GROW and SMOKE my own MEDICINE.(I don't,as being on SSI/Disability,I could lose not only my home and all of the things I worked so hard for when I was physically able, but also my freedom,my benefits...everything.Of course, very few have that right,so I'm at least not on an island with that, although I would be if everyone else had the right to grow, harvest, and smoke grass)But as long as the fear-mongering continues from the suits in power,I wonder if any of us will ever have that right...again.(You tell me...George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were not only growing weed, but they were SEXING PLANTS!!!!As any self-respecting smoker will tell you, that's NOT for production of hemp rope!...Once again, just an example of those in power having, and those under foot having naught)
So please, brothers and sisters,PLEASE...Tell me which YOU think is more important:
1)"FACTS" from a group of people that we've ALWAYS known to lie, whether it was about Watergate,or Iran Contra,or Marijuana...about how grass effects your ability to get a high score at MADDEN,Or NCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL,or CALL OF DUTY,or GEARS OF WAR,or RESIDENT EVIL,or PONG,or DIG DUG,or ASTEROIDS or whatever in the Hell it is?(Next thing you know, they'll be saying that grass makes me suck at KISS Pinball...the rat bastards)
------OR------
2)GETTING UP OFF OF YOUR ASS,GETTING INVOLVED in THE MOVEMENT,and MAKING A FRIGGIN' DIFFERENCE for ALL OF US,from those who enjoy a bowl after a big meal,to those of us who can't stomach food UNLESS we do smoke a pinner first...For those who want to watch our favourite NFL team on Monday Night Football while getting DEEP inot a LARGE bag of Chocolate Thai,to those who want to throw the Wham-O around in the park after a pull or 2 off of a one-hitter...For those who play video games AND for those who CREATE video games???
Just saying.PLEASE,if you cats and kittens love to light a bong,a blunt,a hookah,or a half-done j of some schwag rolled on a greasy 1.0...PLEASE MAKE A DIFFERENCE.I truly believe "they" do these types of studies to distract us from the IMPORTANT things we SHOULD be doing. If EVERY SINGLE PERSON who smokes weed(and those who don't,but believe that EVERY man and woman should have the PERSONAL DECISION left up to them, and not buerecrats(sp?) sitting in there ivory towers, with absolutely NO IDEA of what REAL folks are going through in the REAL WORLD) would just come out with it,be open and honest and say they blaze,we might not be IN a better environment for marijuana YET,but at least we'd have our feet on the right path.In the words of the IMMORTAL James Brown-GET UP,GET INTO IT,GET INVOLVED!!!!!You not only OWE it to yourself to break down the archaic, ignorant prejudices and "laws",you OWE IT to the MIGHTY SACRAMENT of MARY JANE,for ALL of the GREAT times she's helped you find.
You know I'm right.

Prescription drugs haven’t helped much, Elton said. He’s reluctant to take Reglan, which can cause irreversible Parkinsons-like shakes and tremors, and Marinol is ineffective for him. He’s about to switch to Cesamet and hopes that helps.
“With every other anti-nausea medication that is appropriate for my condition, after a couple months of daily use it actually causes nausea,” he said.
While visiting a sister in California, Elton legally tried medical marijuana “and it gave me an immediate sense of relief. No nausea, no vomiting.”
Elton said: “My doctor would rather have me on real/natural medical marijuana delivered via the use of a vaporizer which eliminates all tar and carcinogens from smoking.”
The bill would not alter or interfere with existing state laws that prohibit non-medical, recreational use of marijuana.
Bolkcom said the use of marijuana as medicine is a public health issue, and shouldn’t be part of the war on drugs.
According to a recent national survey of U.S. physicians conducted for the American Society of Addiction Medicine, nearly half of all doctors with opinions support legalizing cannabis as a medicine, Bolkcom said.
Some 80 state and national health care organizations, including the American Nurses Association, American Public Health Association and The New England Journal of Medicine, support immediate, legal patient access to medical cannabis.
Here are the details:
PROPOSAL: Iowans under a doctor’s supervision could use marijuana to ease pain and nausea.
DISCUSSION: At 2 p.m. Tuesday in the lobbyist lounge of the Iowa Senate, lawmakers will have a public discussion of Senate File 293.
WHO WOULD QUALIFY: Those diagnosed by a practitioner with a debilitating medical condition defined as cancer, glaucoma, positive status for human immunodeficiency virus, acquired immune deficiency syndrome, hepatitis C, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, agitation of Alzheimer’s disease, nail patella, or a chronic or debilitating medical condition that produces wasting syndrome, severe pain, severe nausea, certain seizures, or certain muscle spasms.
PENALTIES: So-called "compassion centers" could acquire and deliver marijuana. Workers would have to keep patient names secret or face up to 100 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Anyone who pretends to be qualified under this law would face a simple misdemeanor and a fine up to $500.
OTHER STATES: Thirteen states have medical marijuana laws: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.

Also, 100 million for anti-drug campaign? You have got to be shitting me. If all the above the influence commercials didn't work why is the government spending that much money on a commercials that say you're going to be bad at video games if you smoke.
American government needs to know how to cut its losses. Anti-marijuana commercials do not work, all they do is make stoners laugh.
