Cubs' Soto Tested Positive for Marijuana

Chicago Cubs catcher Geovany Soto said he has been informed by the International Baseball Federation that he tested positive for marijuana at the World Baseball Classic.

"While I fully acknowledge my inappropriate behavior, I want to assure my fans and my family that this was an isolated incident," Soto said in a statement released by the Cubs. "I do not say this to minimize or deflect from my conduct and I fully understand the ramifications of my actions. I have and will accept any and all consequences.

"I am fully dedicated to the game of baseball and my teammates, and I apologize for any distraction and embarrassment this may cause them."

The Cubs released a statement while playing the Tigers in Detroit.

"Geovany assured the organization this was an isolated incident and a misstep in judgment that will not be repeated," the statement read. "Though surprised and disappointed, the club supports Geovany as he takes responsibility for his actions and accepts the consequences."

Soto, who is the reigning National League rookie of the year, played for Puerto Rico in the WBC.

How bout we focus on the devil weed mind fuck? Started in the late 30's & went thru what, the 50's? People started to figure it out in the 60's. Then they double dipped in the 80's w/the war on drugs, as the old mind fuck became the foundation for their policy. Not bright. So, how do you counter a mind fuck? TRUTH? Can we expose the herb mind fuck for what it was, especially at a moment when it may make a very large, positive difference?

Hey gstlab3 I check the comments pages here a lot and you're comments always devolve into a crazy-sounding rant. Look Im as passionate and articulate about my ideas as much as you are about yours, but when i see that mass of unbroken screeds i get an instant headache. Ive read a couple, but now I just ignore them as I'm sure most do. It's ironic because I assumed the CAPS were for ATTENTION not inducing a migraine.

Also, please please space your paragraphs because even if you get off your addiction to ALL CAPS, it still makes you look dumb to just have a mass of words. I'm not being a "knuckle dragger" here like you seem to enjoy calling people. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with you views. All I'm saying is please have some common decency in how you present them, and maybe more people will take the time to listen.

I got arrested the other day for having under a gram and a pipe on me... i HAD no criminal record and NEVER been in trouble.. im in college and have a job and because my state wants to make money off people like me i now have a record. i dont steal, lie, cheat, rape, murder or even take drugs or drink alcohol.
