Summary of Home Cultivation Rules in Active State Medical Cannabis Programs

Alaska

Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess no more than one ounce of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than six marijuana plants, of which no more than three may be mature.

California

Under the guidelines, qualified patients and/or their primary caregivers may possess no more than eight ounces of dried marijuana and/or six mature (or 12 immature) marijuana plants.

Colorado

Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess no more than two ounces of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than six marijuana plants.

Hawaii

Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess up to 3 ounces of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than seven marijuana plants, of which no more than three may be mature.

Maine

Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess no more than one and one-quarter ounces of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than six marijuana plants, of which no more than three may be mature.

Michigan

Patients (or their primary caregivers) may possess no more than 12 marijuana plants kept in an enclosed, locked facility or 2.5 ounces of usable marihuana.

Montana

Patients (or their primary caregivers) may possess no more than six marijuana plants.

Nevada

Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess no more than one ounce of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than seven marijuana plants, of which no more than three may be mature.

New Mexico

Patients may legally possess six ounces of medical cannabis (or more if authorized by their physician) and/or 16 plants (four mature, 12 immature) under this act.

Oregon

Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess no more than three ounces of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than seven marijuana plants, of which no more than three may be mature.

Also, Senate Bill 1085, which took effect on January 1, 2006, raises the quantity of cannabis that authorized patients may possess from seven plants (with no more than three mature) and three ounces of cannabis to six mature cannabis plants, 18 immature seedlings, and 24 ounces of usable cannabis. However, those state-qualified patients who possess cannabis in amounts exceeding the new state guidelines will no longer retain the ability to argue an "affirmative defense" of medical necessity at trial. Patients who fail to register with the state, but who possess medical cannabis in amounts compliant with state law, still retain the ability to raise an "affirmative defense" at trial.

Other amendments to Oregon's medical marijuana law redefine "mature plants" to include only those cannabis plants that are more than 12 inches in height and diameter, and establish a state-registry for those authorized to produce medical cannabis to qualified patients.

Rhode Island

Patients (and/or their primary caregivers) may legally possess 2.5 ounces of cannabis and/or 12 plants, and their cannabis must be stored in an indoor facility.

Vermont

Patients (or their primary caregiver) may legally possess no more than two ounces of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than three marijuana plants, of which no more than one may be mature.

Washington

Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess or cultivate no more than a 60-day supply of marijuana

But I plead guilty to 1 joint @ 18. 2 more and I get 'Life', which in my mind is DEATH. You may as well shoot me and save the taxper's 1 million dollars.

Maybe then we wouldn't be develping diseases that were erradicated centuries ago, aka - malnutrition. But these fat diabetics keep suckin it in, while the children starve.

I don't think most of you posting here smoke enough ganja! Open your hearts, worrying is worthless. Look at the progress that has been made! It's only getting better, people are starting to see the medical benefits and that there is other shit to deal with nowadays before busting peaceful smokers. Or at least realize it's going to be grown/smoked no matter what, be stoked on that. Open your eye to the beauty around you. GIVE THANKS AND ENJOY GODS GIFT!

lab3 - if I move to Alaska, you're gonna have to help me with the math. 1 oz. might last 10 days? So, how do I ensure a fresh batch every 10 days?

8 different cycles for my 12 plants? Ugh. They'd have to make a video and prove it's do-able, economically, sounds like alot of lights, or tents. Gotta love it when they ignore it for 100 years, and now they're experts. Poof, not puff.

good point ...as a matter of fact, why dont you, (gstlab) or whom ever you may be, for that is just you're screen name. Why don't you stop with these blogs and start with opposing different aspects of congresional demographics, where our politicions may just have pity for someone, where their eyes are so bad, (yet possibly Cannabis) may provide a temporary solution for your continuing blindness. Even communist Russia alowed possession of a 1/2 Kilo, for folk medicine or spritual purpose.

Then they decided to become a "freedom loving demockery" like ours and made weed illegal.

Since it has been determined that 1500 lb. (3/4 ton) is a lethal dose, provided it can be consumed in 15 mineutes.

1500 lbs. should be the standard, at which, possessing to much for personal usage begins. That would end the nightmare being created by all of these varying possession amounts, from state to state.

Ok, all of these states on this list are great... but when's Florida going to join the group??.... If they stop the migration of drug smugglers of Cannnabis from all 3 sides of the penninsula, then Florida police will only have to worry about cocaine and other "hard" drugs. Leave the weed that is supposed to be freed, which could be Florida's natural wildlife resurector/savior on the eviorment, and possibly even better at helping with many chemicals in the soil than any other "natural" growing plant.
