HT News Hit - Pot on A Muthaf@cking Plane!
Tue, Oct 20, 2009 5:39 pm
• Thanks to attorney Robert Raich, medical marijuana patients caught with pot at Oakland International Airport aren’t arrested. In fact, they’re allowed to take their medicine onboard. The policy, which was quietly enacted last year, states: “if deputies determine someone is a qualified patient or primary caregiver as defined by California law and has eight ounces or less of the drug, he or she can keep it and board the plane.”
If caught, pot-carrying passengers are warned that they could be committing a felony when they arrive at a destination that doesn’t recognize medical marijuana. However, deputies “don't call ahead to alert authorities on the other end.”
This policy is possible because of the federal Transportation Security Administration’s screening procedure. When the TSA discovers contraband on a passenger, the sheriff’s deputies are alerted – and those deputies are beholden to Oakland’s policy concerning passengers and pot.
Raich deserves a lot of credit here. Fed up with seeing patients harassed for carrying their medicine along with them, he appealed to the County to force the Sheriff’s office to comply with California law and adopt the airport policy. …mercurynews.com
• CBS’s Political Hot Sheet wonders, “Will health coverage pay for medical marijuana?” Hmm. Well, you probably already know the answer but if you’d prefer a drawn out article that attempts to tap into the medical marijuana Web traffic kicked up by the Obama Administration’s MMJ guidelines memo, feel free to skip right to the link.
“Lack of FDA approval means no coverage either by private insurers or through any public plan to be drafted in Congress … The fact that marijuana remains a controlled substance presents one hurdle to approval; another, perhaps more significant one is that it isn't a synthesized drug – that is, its component parts are not crafted by drug companies.” …cbsnews.com

The morons, or, as I've come to believe, moron or maybe 2, is an anti-marijuana activist who is here to dominate the comments boxes in order to give the casual reader a false idea of High Times readership. I know that for other issues, there are people who are paid to do things like that, for others it's something they do because they believe in their side. Of course, it might be "pro-pot" people from a competing mag, I hope not. At any rate, some mod should be hired to clean these things and take out retarded comments, pro or con.

We have to keep in mind the effect of the Byrne grant program or profit motive, forfeiture laws, as well as law enforcement's need to be bad ass heroes in the face of NO danger as cause for alarm. I would not be surprised if they purposely target flights from California with dogs and searches.
Also, what's to say that authorities can't send a heads up to destination airports about specific passengers. It seems like it's their dirty little secret. I can also see some people being purposely targeted.

i wish some hightimes administrators would look into either placing some anti bot counter measures for posting comments, or have moderators who delete such crap.

That is the 30 million they paid in the 2008 election funds, split equally between dems and reps, and I'd be willing to bet that the 2010 "donations' will top the charts
because you know it cost them a ton of money to delay the Justice Dept for 8 months too write a 3 page memo. Congress has been writing a health reform bill for the whole nation, and have done it in half the time.
The clock is ticking, now lets see how long it takes them to even discuss rescheduling marijuana.
They may have gag rules in court, and I still don't understand how that came about,as far as I know if a person takes the stand in his own defense he has a right to any defense he deems important enough to use,and freedom of speech is just as much your right in court as it is anywhere
else in the US,and should be more so when you are arguing for your freedom. They would damn sure have too gag me.

Above is link to election fund donations. While there, check your legislators and see if yours recieved donations from big pharm and you will know for sure if you need too replace them. Barney Frank and Ron Paul recieve $0 from them, while the two senators from my state receive hundred of thousands from big pharm, and both state they will not support medical marijuana or rescheduling it. We are working on replacing them both.
I wonder.......

Hightimes has done a great deal to to bring awareness to those that were blinded by ignorance and stero-typical people, and keeping the believers motivated to spread the truth.
A refrence to the moron at the bottem. Hilter once said "if you tell a Lie convincingly enough and often enough people will see it as the truth".
Something along those lines.
Hmmmm. So its legal to have it in the air until you land in a state with laws against it. Interesting lol. What if i leave a state thats not legal with it on me and go into flight is it legal then? Jp lol
