Cheech & Chong Want to “Get It Legal,” Ann Coulter Doesn’t Really Care Anymore

Wed, Nov 18, 2009 3:09 pm

Well, if you were at all interested in seeing a “debate” about marijuana between Cheech & Chong and Ann Coulter with Geraldo Rivera and his moustache “moderating,” here ya go.

Not a whole bunch of policy herein but this particular grouping is so bizarre it is difficult to tear your eyes away from the screen. Plus, Coulter practically waives the white flag of surrender over marijuana towards the end of the segment (although she’s still a hateful moron).

Really the point of this spot is the announcement that Cheech & Chong will kickoff their Get It Legal comedy tour in January. The tour will hit 22 cities and, according to Chong, it will “promote change through laughter.”

Its just that I'm tired of the commentary left by posters that show incredible unhappiness. Cannabis brings only good vibes, and I can't figure out how a cannabis consumer could possible be unhappy. It is a travesty that people use these posts do breed anger by posting silly things to offend others.
Not that I am angry. I feel its high time we show our intelligence. And stop hiding behind metaphoric gibberish that confuse. What the hell is a sock puppet anyway?

I agree entirely with anonymous. And let me just say something. That grandma that is getting beat for drug money...was it the guy who bought the pot who tells the dealer he needs to beat her to get more money for more weed, or is it his *gasps* own actions????? Plus, if weed was legalized, shithead gangster motherfuckers would not be on the streets selling that shit, plus our prison system would be sooooooo much emptier. Please do not take my comment on Mexicans personally, I was proving the bigotry, naiveness, and the judgemental hate that the average white collar conservative has on the pot smoker. I am also not here to piss off "square" or those guys. Please my brothers and sisters of the church of maryjane, do not let their comments discourage you. They think their points are valid, and yes, they have stressed their point to the extent. This is our way of looking at their opinion, and instead of getting pissed, please look at it in a diplomatic way. Marijuana has the science behind it that says it can be used for medicine, paper, clothes, and one fuckin hell of a good quote un quote, "drug". Not only that, it brings people together, it can make a person care. Not that a person cannot care normally. It's just that THC boosts the emotions. It does not kill. It does not cause one to kill. Psychologically, it does not cause harm. I mean, I hope I do not come off as crazy... I just want to stress that we "potheads" and white collar America need to come to an agreement. Maybe not legalize marijuana necessarily, but make it easily accessable to the sick, needy, and to all the people who just will not say no!!!!!!!!

anonymous

Nov 27 2009, 6:36 pm

The whole thing about marijuana illegalization was that in the early 1930's, the Mexicans were flowing into the USA by the thousands (sound familiar?) and they brought with them the plant called cannabis sativa, or good ol mary jane. At the time, many white Americans did not know about this plant. As a campaign to rid America of the Mehicanos, the government officially passed a law in the late 1930's that required one to have a stamp to possess marijuana, but if one did not have that stamp, but had reefer, they were arrested. So in effect, they made the first law on the jane. Eventualy this turned into the laws that we know today, which like Chong said, "make people laugh". Why does our favorite red headed sweetheart always have to be judged and prosecuted?

Qwertybin and square reveal them selves as Absolute moralists.

One of the Absolute Moralists favorite slogans is "This is for the good of society". Have you ever asked yourself who this society character is?
We hear about him, but we've never met him. Could society possibly be a woman? It sounds like a woman's name. All kidding aside, I'm sure you get the point. There is no such thing as "society". The term is a concept describing the combination of all individuals.

What does the Absolute Moralist mean by "the good of society"? Obviously, he cant be referring to all individuals. He is advocating measures that keep some from enjoying freedom of choice. What he is really crusading against is some of his fellow citizens choices.

These methods do not solve the alleged problem(s) described by sq & qwert. A crime involves an involuntary exchange. No one is forcing individuals to take drugs. The drug users are voluntarily buying drugs from dealers. Ambiguous terms such as "the good of society" result in a violation of individual rights.
sq & qwert, invite society over for dinner, if he or she shows up, I will admit defeat.

You two may be well meaning, but are without understanding.

The laws against cannabis in all it's forms are bad laws. Millions and maybe billions of people have realized this, and engage in civil disobedience everyday. These people are not criminals seeking to break the law without resistance, these people are doing what they know to be natural and safe and what once was legal, until the unjustifiable bad law was forced upon us with no chance for debate back in the early 1900's, the law has been in place for less than a hundred years yet we act like it has always been and will always be, some have the courage to stand up and say "this is wrong" and fight for what is right, while others stick to what they know and say instead "the rules are the rules, deal with it", to me, the latter example is a display of cowardace, like someone who witnesses a rape in progress and ignores it, as opposed to someone who would find a way to stop it, even at great personal risk, like kicking the guy's ass, or even calling the police is something, instead many out there would simply pretend nothing is wrong, or it's not their problem or that someone else will deal with it, well the truth is sometimes inaction is the worst action to take, and this is one of those times, and even though there may be something to fear, you are not alone, and if we can all find the resolve to stand up and fight, and fight well, we will have what it takes to do the right thing, and we'll get it done. Stand and fight, brothers and sisters, stand up and fight! --Big Mike

Square and qwerty, your arguments don't make much sense. Every person that I've known that smokes marijuana (which is a lot) has never been anything but the most mellow people in the world. Marijuana surely doesn't bring out violence or erratic behavior.. if anything it calms you down and makes you want to relax. Now I can see how getting into a car accident when your high can make marijuana seem bad, but doesn't alcohol do the same exact thing? If they made marijuana legal, you surely wouldn't be able to drive while high.

Thank you Tommy Chong and Cheech Marin for all you have done for the cannabis culture. You have brought millions of people together in laughter and also united them to stand up for their rights. And here you go again, travelling across the country trying to enlighten people and get them to see what we all see in cannabis. I am jealous that I can not make as big of an impact as you two can. With 2010 elections coming up, this tour could prove to be a HUGE FORCE in the push for re-legalization. Thank you again Cheech and Chong!!

I totally concur with Square, even if he/she states it in his/her own unique way.
You all should be GLAD that theres individuals like me and Square posting here. Who else would be caring enough to talk sense into you or any other drug user here?
You guys may not realize it but youre harming society with your use of drugs. Think about the poor old lady thats getting beaten and robbed for drug money, for every time you take that little illegal puff of marijuana. All of the gangsterism and violent crimes associated with drug use trickles all the way down to the casual pot smoker.
Look at the person you illegally buy your drugs from...does he have a family and responsibilities? Not by a longshot. People who live clean correct lives will not associate themselves with drug users. The only people that associate with drug users is other drug users. And when they all get together they have one common thing in mind: trouble.
Drugs are illegal and the laws are here to stay for a reason: Drugs kill. They destroy minds. They stifle ambition. And they account for billions of dollars in lost productivity. People who live clean correct lives have the right to worry about these things and should not be croweded in by a bunch of burned out zombies who cannot control themselves
Like I said, the drug laws are here to stay. So stop trying to evade the system and get your acts together. SAY NO TO DRUGS!

Have a nice day :)

First, the train operator testified under oath that " he had been drinking, snacking, and had intentionally overridden a safety device" on the day of the accident. The accident had nothing to do with the fact that he smoked some herb the Sat. night before the tragic accident.

That crazy lady probably did smoke some herb along with pills, booze, believing the propaganda about pot and driving.
Truth is that pot consumers are safer drivers than non-drug using drivers are. I will be back with a direct cite of that FACT in a moment.

Square

Nov 24 2009, 4:20 pm

Oh deadhead, so you want to inflict violence upon me? Why would you want to do that?
The answer is simple: marijuana brings out that kind of behavior! Thats why it became illegal in the first place some 75 years ago. All of the vintage newsreels of the time show victims being pushed out of hirise windows, or being knifed to death. And you wishing to shoot me further solidifys the point.
And to that Kouroac420 dude, you are flat-out nuts (the result of too much potsmoking, of course) if you think marijuana hasnt killed anyone.
You mustve not caught the news of that Amtrak accident that killed scores of passengers in which the train operator had admitted to smoking pot.
Or the recent news of that loser mother who crashed her minivan, killing all eight of her children. The tox reports showed that she was stoned out of her mind behind the wheel. So dont tell me that shit about marijuana hasnt killed anyone cuz it DOES!
Instances like these will ensure that marijuana is dangerous and will remain illegal. You can count on that!

Nov 24 2009, 3:47 am

For the people who want to talk about n**** this and zion that, do me a great favor:*wait for it*
Get a job, surround yourself with folks that obviously have more sense than you, and keep it pushing. In other words stop being a mindless bigot. It's disgusting and shows that if each person is dual natured, that you obviously thrive on hate. Obama isn't the best president, but neither was the dummy that was before him. But he's trying. But you don't care because all you see is a stupid skin color. What a freaking reprobate.
The focus of the piece is not on that, but is more on the fact that even the most conservative folks(Ann Colter being the best example)are starting to realize that fighting against this is silly at best and giving even more power to the black market. During the time of alcohol prohibition, people were caught in the crosshairs of rival gangs who wanted to sell hooch. Freaking hooch. And this is no different. Users are being arrested, just like back then. Groups and Gangs are making loads of dough, just like back then. But unlike alcohol, the worst pot could ever do(if you "oversmoke") is make you happy, voraciously hungry, or sleepy. Or in my case, horny. When you pass your limit, the body says "alright, go to sleep". But when you do alcohol it's more like "alright, pass out/vomit/vomit then pass out".When you smoke too many cigs you just get an ill tummy. I see nothing wrong with alcohol or cigs(as that I do drink on occasion).
But I've said my peace.

steven williams

My name is Steven, I am 24, and I am from West Virginia. When I was 12, my dad gave me my first joint, but he wouldn't even let me smoke a cigarette, I've been smoking pot ever since.
I don't understand why liquer is legal and pot is not. Because you can smoke a joint and drive a car just fine, but you drink and drive people dies or get hurt really bad. I wonder if pot is not legal cause you can't tax it. I don't care if it never gets legalized i will smoke pot til the day I die.

why

Nov 21 2009, 6:20 pm

should pot use be an "issue" at all?

sirsmokesalot420

Nov 21 2009, 5:36 pm

Indeed, we need a new bottom line in U.S. drug policy, one that treats drug use as a public health issue and focuses on reducing harm rather than increasing incarceration. We need change NOW because ordinary, law-abiding Americans have more to fear from the War on Drugs than from drugs themselves. Consider what happened to the mayor of Berwyn Heights, Md., Cheye Calvo.

One day not too long ago, he came home after a day at work, found a UPS package on his front steps, and brought it in. Moments later, gun-toting officers from the county Sheriff’s Department burst into his home without knocking. The first thing they did was shoot Mayor Calvo’s two Labrador Retrievers. Then, they handcuffed him and forced hime to watch his beloved dogs bleed to death.

How could this have happened in America? It turns out that the package, unbeknownst to Mayor Calvo, contained marijuana. He and his wife were victims of a drug-smuggling scheme that targets innocent UPS customers – and then they became victims of the War on Drugs, thanks to one of its key tools: “no-knock warrants” of dubious constitutionality that allow police to barge in unannounced. Yet for all the horrors the Calvos experienced, they were luckier than some.

sirsmokesalot420

Nov 21 2009, 5:33 pm

The main reason why it should be legalized is because prohibition in itself is a danger to our social fabric. Drug prohibition militarizes our police, enriches our enemies, undermines our laws, and condemns our sick to suffering. We do not want a bunch of Al Capone's running around. The results have been the same from day one. Drugs have gotten cheaper, purer, and easier to obtain. Today, the United States has the highest per capita rate of incarceration of any country – even more than dictatorships. While we have 5 percent of the world’s population, we account for 25 percent of all the people on earth who are locked away behind bars. Over its 40 years, the War on Drugs has cost taxpayers roughly $40 billion annually in direct costs, and tens of billions more in indirect costs. That’s over 20 times the amount we spend on quality after school programs that help kids stay out of trouble.

Albert Einstein once famously defined insanity as “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Nothing better describes the War on Drugs. Maintaining a prohibition culture only strengthens the black market.

Fox News is a politically-active entertainment channel, not a real news channel like CNN, HLN or MSNBC. It has high ratings and it isn't coincidental that the average American isn't very bright.

The person that says "Ann is hot" need some serious eyesight work.

Ann is a fugly transgender - just notice the Adams Apple on her (his) neck.

wow...just when you think coulter couldnt get any dumber...what kind of reasoning is that? "i know people who smoke pot and dont have trouble getting it and don't get busted, therefore its not an issue." what about the millions of people in prison for it right now or the trillions of dollars that could be saved if more sensible policies were enacted?
