Unless you want to smoke dutch outdoor herb , there's no reason to come over here really. Dutch gene plants are not that special , indoors doesn't matter , master growers can be found worldwide. If , i mean, IF the current political trend continues , cannabis products are not going to be sold anywhere in holland to people without a dutch identity document . Even if you would come over here , go to a coffeeshop and ask a dutchie to buy it for you it's going to be difficult because it is not only that sale is not allowed to foreigners, dutchies are going to be limited to 3 GRAMS A DAY , all registered in a ''wietpas'' administation system. What's left is the dealers on the street who really don't care what they sell to whoever.BUT hold on a sec. , the reason why we have coffeeshops and growshops and headshops and semi-allowed indoor gardens with 5 plants is that many people ignored the law. They will then just go to the next town and buy pot there instead. They will be spending their money in that city instead. I'd think small Dutch towns rely heavy on tourist monies and their economy would suffer greatly with such a stupid law.The U.S.A. has alot to do with all of this worldwide madness. They spend millions on helping other countries fight their drug war.

Stopping the sale of marijuana / hash to citizens living outside the Netherlands will not stop or even make a difference to curb the criminals making money on EU marijuana prohibition. People listen to me - somewhere - someone must surely realize that legalization is the ONLY way to STOP the illegal sale and remove the criminality. The current EU financial woes could be easily mitigated through the taxation of cannabis (just like alcohol). Governments should consider the millions of euros which could be realized through "controlled" cannabis taxation. Marijuana consumption can not be reduced or eliminated - only controlled.

I hope you will post your comments/experiences in amsterdam upon your return from your vacation. I am planning to go to amsterdam in May 2011. If it is turns out tourist can't enter and smoke weed in the coffee shops, I will cancel my plans to visit there.

I've been to the cafes in The Netherlands ,many times in my life, and to be honest; Canada (BC in particular) has some of the finest herb on the planet. Why would I want to pay $3K to go somewhere in Europe, only to be told, I can't participate because I'm a foreigner. F**k 'em, I can stay in Canada, save my money, and enjoy...
Sorry for the attitude; but I've traveled all over the world for 50 of my 63 years, and I've watched, what I believe, is the USA forcing their political BS on everyone, including their views on Marijuana. The world needs to grow some 'stones' and tell them to f**k off. Some people will say this isn't about the USA, they can f**k off too. If the USA wasn't losing a supposed "war on drugs", other countries wouldn't be so susceptible to what ever sanctions the USA threatens them with, both on and off the record, if those countries continue to express their own sense of democratic freedoms. This will only destroy The Netherlands tourism money,which is probably a lot counting americans,canadians,etc. as well as many european people who can go for a weekend and spend money in Amsterdam and other citys there,which is why Amsterdam is opposed to this BS. I know some people from The Netherlands and they say 90% of the weed in the cannabis cafes is 1/2 as good as last year.Something about a worst bunch of quality wise weed in a decade going around most shops there.I was told that there are still 4 or 5 cannabis cafes in Amsterdam with the killer as expected buds,like always and the rest are selling 1/2 ass buds naming them as strains that they are not,and selling them at the same prices as the good shit. This is only some cafe doing that,but a lot have lower quality buds than they have had in 10 years,with some places having the super good shit.So I think I can sit at home and smoke cheaper indoor highgrade from growers I know that give me a discount anyway,compared to paying for a trip to Amsterdam and then maybe getting shitty weed compared to what you would have gotten last year.Got better indoor bud in the US and Canada anyway. And I have been to Amsterdam 6 times and I'm not going back till my friend's there tell me the bud is back to being good like it is supposed to be,at all cafes not just a few,and if they ban tourists from buying I will never go back again..
