EDDY LEPP
Pot Prophet or Profit for Pot?
Thu, Sep 15, 2005 12:09 pm
Eddy Lepp stands alone in the marijuana world. Admirers point to his 25-acre medical-pot farm in Northern California (the largest of its kind in the world), his title as the 2004 HIGH TIMES Freedom Fighter of the Year and his work as the spiritual leader of Eddy’s Medicinal Gardens and Multi-Denominational Ministry of Cannabis and Rastafari. Critics (including the federal government), however, paint an unflattering portrait of a flashy profiteer who is out for himself. Currently, the 53-year-old Vietnam vet in the center of this cannabis crossfire is out on bail, facing the possibility of four life sentences plus 40 years and over $17 million in fines. All for the love of ganja?
Located in the middle of Eddy Lepp’s massive house, its walls painted shades of hot pink and bedecked with various knickknacks from his travels, the master bedroom was once the throbbing heart of this enterprise—one of the only finished rooms in the entire 10,000-square-foot structure. Due to current court orders, Lepp is unable to smoke pot during our interview, so with tobacco cigarette in hand, he arranges some of his keepsakes before opening with a steady flow of curses against the DEA. “Goddamn sons-of-bitches....”
After this purging, he settles down and smiles wider than a Cheshire cat. “Do I speak directly into the microphone?”
As always, Lepp is pleased as punch to be interviewed. He enjoys being listened to, and respected, as the big-time ganja guru of an organization that was once home to thousands of medical-marijuana plants and from 15 to 30 nomadic cannabis cultivators at a time. In August 2004, the Feds came in and massacred 32,524 pot plants—a number that doesn’t include those that flew off the top of their open-air evidence wagons while being driven away down California Highway 20. Lepp was arrested that day, then quickly released on bail. The ministry tried to rebuild. But in February, the DEA, Lake County Narcotic Task Force and local law enforcement raided the garden again, seizing over 6,000 plants and taking Lepp into custody for over two months. He was again released on bail in April and came home not to a bustling ministry but to only his self-proclaimed “chosen family,” including his wife, Linda Senti, and his personal assistant. The ministry is now a quiet place. Lepp’s assistant spends his time writing press releases and rallying support; Senti tries to keep her husband focused on his legal case, which now combines the 2004 and 2005 raids, and on the couple’s financial problems: Eddy’s Medicinal Gardens, once estimated by the DEA to be home to over $80 million worth of marijuana, has gone flat broke.

As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. He may have started honorably or with every good intention, but now he's a drug dealer, using the medical marijuana lobby as a shield. He's a common drug dealer. I submit you're not as knowledgable about his activities as you think you are.

That's the point duh! He made money! As for him being broke, the property's worth money, the house and the gold he so prowdly displays are all assests. If he's claiming poverty, it's of his own making and more likely than not, the result of creative book keeping. I dunno, ask him about the sale of a pound of marijuana to an undercover cop. According to the cops there was no mention of religion or medicine during the negotiation of the sale...The obvious goal of that sale is greed, pure and simple. No valiant cause there. Just an everyday drug dealer, using your beliefs as a shield for his crimes

D.E.A. Jurisdiction and Due Process of Law
Part 1
Our Federal Courts and Department of Justice are operating under color of law1- and
systematically denying We The People of our right to the due process of law2.
Common Law3 crime requires a victim, with injuries or damages. Administrative Law, a form of
contract law for Executive Branch agencies and its registrants, does not require a victim but can call
for criminal penalties for registrants.
The following is from a motion that was presented last year to a Federal District Court in U.S. v.
Landa. The judge refused to rule, telling Attorney Allison Margolin to “take that to the Ninth Circuit”.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals refused to hear it, returning the issue to District Court. This case
involves prison time for a patient, and the judge will not rule! Since then many patients have filed the
same motion. This concerns Our most basic right: Our unalienable right to due process.

Defense attorney J David Nick writes:
I just want to emphasize that now that I have seen the discovery in the "asian medical marijuana mobster-mafia-moneylaundering-exctasy
selling gang case"(yeah right!) that I can assure all that the
federal government has done nothing but spewed lies about this very honorable group that was doing nothing except serving the medical marijuana needs of San Francisco. They have taken excerpts of conversations taken out of context in order to make them look like something else (knowing that its part of their little propaganda startegy). Don't fall for it! support them! This is part of the Government's war on medical marijuana, that is, to get stupid people who don't get informed to believe that there are "bad criminals"involved in medical marijuana dispensing and thus the only answer is to shut it all down-get informed and support these defendants.

You know, if I had some I might try to smoke it or something, being the fact its illegal. Meri is an herb we smoke, not a refined drug. In a great world all drugs would be legal and we'd have better communication skills, as it is we need to continue to educate everyone and take this offense away before it does away w/us

Rescheduling marijuana is the most efficient way to ensure that patients everywhere have safe and legal access to the medicine that provides them relief.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) continues to be a significant roadblock for a variety of issues impacting medical marijuana patients. They block research, control funding resources that could be used for research, and control the process for rescheduling marijuana.
The goal of this Campaign is to turn up the heat to pressure HHS to take action to reschedule marijuana.
Marijuana Rescheduling
Americans for Safe Access is part of the Coalition for Rescheduling Cannabis, which has filed a formal rescheduling petition to HHS. We are now using grassroots efforts to pressure the HHS and Congress to reschedule.
Data Quality Act
Following the submission of the Formal Rescheduling Petition, ASA filed a Data Quality Act Petition, requesting that HHS correct information disseminated by the agency regarding the medical use of marijuana. The DQA requires federal agencies, like HHS, to ensure that the information it distributes is fair, objective and meets certain quality guidelines. Congress passed the DQA primarily in response to increased use of the Internet, to prevent the harm that can occur when government websites, which are easily and often accessed by the public, disseminate inaccurate information.
