The Producer Lives Up To Its Name...

4/9/10 Photos: The Day Before Harvest
My harvest started & finished a little earlier for personal reasons
but I'm pretty happy with the results and am optimistic about a better
grow for cycle 2, given that I get the right bulb for the middle socket
and possibly hook up the C02 tank this time?
4/10:

It's been a while since I've updated this blog, so here's a foto feast for your eyes.
I just gave the last feeding on Sunday, and this upcoming Sunday I'll give 'em the Final Phase flush. My estimated harvest date is 4/20 for all except the 3 seedlings, which I'll have to decide on when the time comes. Mental note: Definitely need to invest in a better bud scope so I can keep an eye on the crystals, right now I'm using a ghetto magnifying glass from the dolla store.

It's been two weeks since my last blog and boy do the ladies look different!
As you can see from the images below, one issue I noticed were the T-5 upgrade lights at the bottom of the box are starting to cause some leaf burns, and even a stem decapitation.
The first little white hairs of flowering began to emerge at this stage.
A mere four days later, the girls were touching the top …READ MORE

Ok, so I've been partially super busy and partially super stoned and totally behind on my bloggin'
Here's some eye candy: An update of the ladies' growth in the BC Northern Lights Producer...
If you remember, this is where we were a couple weeks ago when the box was broken then fixed:
The little one in the back on the left didn't make it. Well, she may have, except she'd gotten quite moldy and I figured it'd be better for the crop to kill her off.
My beans of unknown strains have sprouted and started to ascend.

I'm both happy & relieved to say that we're BACK in business, the box is up and running again...
Here's how it happened...
After speaking with Tarren and Justin from BC Northern Lights on the phone, they believed that the connection from the LCD screen to the CPU just wasn't working. The communication light that was supposed to be rapidly blinking was not. So, they would send me a new cord to try.
However, the next day I received an email from BC saying they were instead going to ship me a whole new box and help me with the process of shipping this one back. Wait, whoa!! If you've read my first blog in regards to the tribulations of bringing this darn thing inside in the first place, well, then you can imagine my horror at the thought of repeating the ordeal!

Oh my god...
I don't know how I managed to do it, but I broke it! That massive 200lb+ monstrosity of a machine was disabled by my lil 115lb arse.
Ok, here's what went down...
So everything was going fine. I could hear the thing watering (I think), and it sure was making a lot of noise. My bf says it's not that loud but my roommate thinks it is, so who knows. Anyway...I had sent an email over to Tarren @ BC Northern Lights asking for instructions on how to use the sensors, or if there were any videos in existence. He responded promptly to my email with some brief notes on how to activate the sensors and which ones were to be submerged in the reservoir.
Following his directions, I submerged the pH sensor and another sensor (I think the EC?) into the reservoir when all of a sudden the lights popped off!
I attempted to turn them …READ MOREtags: 2 « add a comment

Adding Chemistry to the 420 Equation
Sun Jan 31, 2010
After potcrastinating for about a week (you'll notice a pattern here), I finally decided to start the hydro process and use this machine for what it's for. I had been handwatering the girls up to this point and all but 2 were looking good.
I started by filling two 5-gallon water cooler jugs until near full, since the Producer growing manual says to use 9 gallons, and poured this into the provided blue bin. Totally sporting my BC Northern Lights t-shirt, which is sized medium but still two sizes too big for me, and also my Bambu hat, supposedly one-sized fits all, but I suppose "fits all" doesn't necessarily equate to "fits all well"! Alas... they just don't make enough stoner wear for chicks, now do they? : /READ MORE

Chem Clones in Cab'nit... Now wuht?
Sun Jan 31, 2010
On Saturday I received a special gift from a friend... 20 beautiful baby girls, all rooted, all chemdog.
I potcrastinated for a bit and re-checked my Producer to make sure everything was hooked up before putting the girls in there, and actually, there were a couple things misconnected. Also, Hakeem hadn't hooked up the vent covers and I noticed some light leaked, so I installed those.
One of the issues I'd had been worried about was the doors improperly closing.

Putting The(Producer) Pieces Together
Thu Jan 14, 2010
After potcrastinating for a week, yesterday was Producer set-up day...
The day started bright & early at 930am, when my good friend Hakeem arrived with his tools & the first blunt of the morning...
After a second blunt, a couple rounds of Bonkey hits, a greasy stonah breakfast fit for a coronary, and five hours later, we were ready to begin!
Inside the Blue Bin:
Inside the blue bin (which serves 2 purposes, to mix nutes & drain 'em later) are a whole bunch of goodies, including the lights, water pumps, sensors, manuals, & some free BC Northern Lights t-shirts. (hell yea for more 420-related tees to add to my collection)
The Producer comes with 2 manuals, a Technical Manual & a Growing Manual.
After running through the checklist & reading through the fairly thorough manual once, we began with making all the pump/water connections, which are labeled …READ MOREtags: 1 « add a comment

It's finally arrived. My very own BC Northern Lights "The Producer" grow cabinet.
This Bad Boy...
http://www.bcnorthernlights.com/indoor-hydroponic-grow-boxes/the-producer
Right now, he's sitting in front of my desk, just waiting to be figured out, daring me to investigate his inner intricacies, trying to intimidate me with his size and design...almost daring me to maximize his full potential, to lend meaning to his moniker.
So far, the first battle was hard-fought but in the end, victorious.
It began last week with the truck arriving with only an older man & a handtruck, leaving me scratching my head as to why the transport company didn't inform me on the phone that I'd need not 1, but 2 (if not more) men for this job...
...what happened last night was a near …READ MOREtags: 1 « add a comment
