Dewitos: Doritos-Flavored Mountain Dew

In what is either a stroke of genius or a very cruel prank, Doritos has teamed up with Mountain Dew to create a mad combo product: Dewitos. Yes, you read that right. It’s obviously that time of year to combine weird things (see: burweedos). Perfect stoner snack, or the stuff of nightmares?

The Doritos-flavored Mountain Dew recently popped up on college campuses across the country. A freshman at Ohio’s Kent State University who goes by the evocative name joes_nipples on Reddit shared a pic of his sample of Dewitos, unveiling the Franken-snack to the world. Many folks cried hoax, but PepsiCo confirmed the experiment, stating in an email to Quartz:

We are always testing out new flavors of Mountain Dew, and giving our fans a voice in helping decide on the next new product has always been important to us. We opened up the DEW flavor vault and gave students a chance to try this Doritos-inspired flavor as part of a small program at colleges and universities.

Hmm. We’ll have to give it a try ourselves before passing judgment, but it sounds pretty disgusting. The KSU freshman (real name Steve Barnes) told Reddit that it wasn’t so bad, stating “It tasted like orange with a Doritos aftertaste… Weirdest thing I’ve ever drunken.” Hey, PepsiCo, send us a sample so we can see for ourselves!
