Burlington singer, rocker, and guitarist Grace Potter of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals sat in with moe. last night, belting out the Rolling Stones tune "Gimme Shelter" (check out the video below). The last time the band covered the song was in March of 2008 at the Sherman Theater, in Stroudsburg, PA.
Potter has been opening up for Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney on their "Brothers of the Sun" summer tour, starting in early June and continuing through August.
Grace Potter & The Nocturnals opened the main stage at moe.down 13, taking place at Snow Ridge Ski Resort in Turin, NY, followed by two sets from upstate jam band rockers, moe.
moe. started off their weekend "too fucking high" with a "Plane Crash" opener and continued the pot references with "Not Coming Down" and "Okay Alright" by "smoking joints in the parking lot." moe. proved once again that the best played versions of "Timmy Tucker" happen outside at moe.down and usually follow a tremendous rain storm.
With rain showers hitting the mountain on and off for most of the day, festival-goers raged on under the VIP Saranac beer tent, umbrellas, and rain gear, and tried to stay dry. However much rain fell, it didn't stop the positivity, good vibes, and excitement of moe.'s 13th summer festival.
Second set had Kyle Hollingsworth from String Cheese Incident sitting in on keys for "Happy Hour Hero" - Hollingsworth played two sets on the second stage with his own band. "Head" had a super long jam section and the evening concluded with a super heady encore of "Seat of My Pants" and "Akimbo."
The Wood Brothers, Galactic, current HIGH TIMES Band of the Month Leroy Justice, and Chicago's JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound will play between two stages today - along with two more highly anticipated headlining sets from moe. on the main stage starting at 8pm.
