PROVIDENCE, R.I. The House is scheduled to try again today for a vote on a bill to legalize marijuana for people sick with certain diseases.
A vote scheduled for yesterday was put off because the House Finance Committee was hashing out the state budget.
The House is scheduled to vote on the medical marijuana bill this afternoon.
Governor Carcieri says he'll veto any bill that legalizes pot.
But the bill passed the Senate with a huge majority, so that means it's possible lawmakers could override a veto.
Sponsors of the bill have said they weren't discouraged by a recent Supreme Court ruling that said the federal government can prosecute anyone who smokes pot for medical purposes even if it's allowed under state law and recommended by a doctor.
