Snoop Dogg has come to Willie Nelson’s defense after the country singer was arrested in Sierra Blanca last month. According to Snoop, “Willie Nelson is a legend … Sometimes you need to back up off of certain people and have a certain amount of respect for your elders. And Willie Nelson is our elder … If you got a problem with Willie Nelson, you got a problem with me.”

One person who has a problem with Willie Nelson is Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West, who memorably said of Nelson, “He could get 180 days in county jail, which if he does, I’m going to make him cook and clean. He can wear the stripy uniforms just like the other ones do.”

Despite the tough talk, it is very likely that Nelson, who was caught with what turned out to be less than four ounces of marijuana (originally thought to be six ounces), will simply be fined. So, the “stripy uniform” or kitchen duty is probably not in his future.

In fact, Nelson even has asked fans to donate to the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Department toy drive. Apparently, in this case, it is the elder that is showing respect.
