Green Army NY: Legislative Day, Short Stories and New Web Features!

Hello HIGH TIMES readers,

Green Army NY is planning a Legislative Day in Albany, scheduled for April 2010. We plan to take medical marijuana patients on a day trip to Albany so their voices can be heard. We are going to meet and discuss with our legislators and show them why it is so important to move forward with the issue. With your support and donations – we can make this day happen. The author of The Official High Times Pot Smoker's Handbook suggests the best places to get stoned (Central Park), get fed, have a beer, and cure the munchies in his hometown, including the video interview above. Green Army NY Remembers Barbara Jackson

Very rarely does a case come along that so embodies the very ideals you are trying to prevent or uphold. For us, it is Barbara Jackson. Her story highlights everything that is wrong with our country’s policy toward marijuana. Green Army NY would like to take this month to remind ourselves of what Ms. Jackson was fighting for, how she fought for it and what it all means to us. People like her show what can truly be done with a bit of conviction. Barbara, we thank you.

Barbara was born April 27, 1937 in South Hill Virginia. She came north, arriving in New York at an early age. She loved New York and in her chest beat the heart of a New Yorker. Hello Soldiers,

We have news from the front! The battle for Coney Island was a rounding success!

The day started at Green Army NY headquarters in Bayside, Queens with battle preparation. As we laid the groundwork for our fight, there were rumblings amongst the troops of defeat. It was a rainy day and morale was low. But, after the preparations were complete, we shouldered our worries along with our supplies and loaded up the USS Explorer. With the ship prepped and loaded, we headed out for our first combat operation.

The USS Explorer got us close, but we had to switch transport modes, so as not to miss the opening shots of the battle. We transferred to the Q train and rode it into the battle. Green Army NY Announces Creation and Call to Arms

Support Marijuana Legalization & Taxation in New York.  

Change is due in New York. Green Army NY is here to bring voice to the millions of New Yorkers who use marijuana. We want to broaden the discussion on marijuana legalization and taxation. Too long has revenue been lost and money wasted. 

Green Army was founded to prove to New York’s elected officials that the population is unhappy with the current legislation. Legalization of marijuana for medical use is at the top of the list. We know the science is there to show marijuana’s benefits to the terminally ill; all we need is the voice to let it be heard. Green Army NY’s decriminalization campaign will also use its platform to help unclog NY’s overburdened justice system – in most cases there is no reason a nonviolent user of marijuana should be incarcerated. Legalization, The New York Times and the Oncoming Boomer Apocalypse

Reading Michael Winerip’s piece “Legalization? Now For the Hard Question” in the May 15, 2009, New York Times I was reminded again of just how damaging and useless the generation that was born into the era of unprecedented prosperity that followed World War II has proven itself to be. It seems like everyday I’m confronted with some new crime, some new hypocrisy of their making.

SXSW: The Sights & Sounds
