Anderson Cooper Visits The Farmacy

Tue, Jun 16, 2009 2:05 pm

In the latest case of mainstream media devoting airtime to our favorite plant, Anderson Cooper is highlighting marijuana use in the US all this week in a special report “America’s High: The Case For and Against Pot.”

Here’s a little sample from the first installment in which Cooper visits The Farmacy, a Los Angeles dispensary, where he learns about strains, edibles and the difference between indica and sativa.

CNN will have more pot in primetime all this week at 10pm EST.

rally cries and screams on medical uses have over shadowd the reason we really want weed legalized. If the alchol and tabacco monsters can force there garbage into the mainstream and have there products be another part of american life then shit we have the right to posses something that is basically taken for the same emotional reasons someone would drink a 6 pack after work. its the right to control were we get are products, to grow it ,to harverst it. they try to seperat us more and more from those basic human traits. and if any thing is a gateway drug its alchol we are bumbarded with that shit all day!

knowledge is power, action is needed, legalize it, tax it and be done with it.It is natural, and has many uses besides smoking it.Or evry city have a designated area where it is supervised and controled enviroment without prejudice.

we will fight

Thankfully people like Anderson Cooper are looking into our issues as a country that NEEDS marijuana law reform. I say don't take money away from the war on drugs, I know it sounds crazy but as a father I feel the war on drugs needs to be there(Not the war on weed). Take that hard earned tax money and stop Cocain, Heroin, PCP, LSD, extacy, mescalin, mushrooms, opium, Etc. from reaching the hands of our children. Please people contact your state and fedral representitives and let them know how you feel, they might be the ones that get it on the balot but it's up to us to vote and legalize for the good of our future generations. If its on there the people who whould otherwise be afraid to step forward will then have no reason not to. Legalization here we come;)

heck yeah!! people who smoke should come out of the closet and let everyone see we are for the most part hard working, honest, smart people. i have always treated smoking as if it were no big thing and so my children have grown up seeing a different side to being a stoner, it isn't no big thing. we go to work, we pay taxes, and really do we hurt anyone? make yourself legal, stand up for our rights and lets get the show on the road. LEGALIZE!

Hey, names Logan, I'm a 20 year old male and i smoke weed everyday.

I'm the one who needs to be shown, cuz weed saved my life on many occasions not to mention it helps me function in my everyday life.

I'm a concrete finisher in Oklahoma, it's dawn til done, every day no matter how I feel. I wake up at 5 o'clock everyday, even weekends, I smoke enough to get me relaxed but not high. Then im out the door by six.

I work in 105 degrees and 100 percent humidity on a daily basis, and what gets me through the day? those 4 or 5 hits I take in the morning.

I'm physically fit, smart as hell, and I've got a memory that is amazing.

I'm pretty low on the totem pole as far as the government goes, but I wish i could show the world what the new image of weed should be.

it motivates, relaxes, and gives me the extra sense of calm that I need to get through the day!

great stuff people!

Don't be scared, the laws aren't scary if you get to know your legal rights! Don't be afraid to speak out for the plant we all know and love.

peace and love

aaronspace is 100% correct in their statement that things will not change until more people stand up. I know a lot of professionals in various careers and they're all afraid of saying something because they fear reprisal from their employer and community.

We've gotta spread the message past our own kind... we have been yelling these same messages at each other for years, and I think it's time we shifted strategy and actively try to appeal to those who are still too afraid to speak out.

Talk to your neighbors, and rather than blurting out a million facts, quotes and statistics all at once, actively and thoroughly listen to them to understand what it is they fear from our medicinal and spiritual plant.

9 times out of 10, they fear the sub-culture (i.e. perceptions of dirty people, violence, gangs, robbery and theft, etc...).

If we can change that perception, we can win.

Just remember that if nothing changes, nothing changes and change ALWAYS starts with you.

I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO WATCH ANY OF THIS ON TV.,IS IT ANY GOOD?.," AND DOES IT TREAT THE SUBJECT FAIRLY IN ANY WAY? I AM NOT A SUBSCRIBER TO THE MASS MEDIA AND THEIR PROGRAMS BECAUSE OF THE BIAS TOWARDS MORE GOVERNMENT AND THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR OF MEDIA., THE SENSATIONALISM OF CRIME AND HUMAN SUFFERING., I FOR ONE MISTRUST THEIR MOTIVES ANYMORE.

weed will not get legalized until the tens of millions of americans who smoke it everyday come out of the closet, get it on a ballot, and vote for it. Everyone already knows cigarettes and alcohol kill you and weed does not. Everyone knows there is a shit ton of money to be made on all sides. Since alcohol is lethal, and legal, we should focus on the comparison; that will expose the irrationality behind the law. States should be able to discern the legality for themselves because obviously, the majority opinion of the country is to the contrary. Also, the counter-culture movement tarnishes the sacred plant and puts it in a negative light amongst those who do not smoke (yes, they are out there and they outnumber us). Dirty stoners ranting and raving about the war on drugs merely does the opposition's work for them. Normal, hardworking and gainfully employed Americans need to step up, or otherwise keep hiding in the shadows. The war against the war on drugs is failing. It's time for a new general.

Damn, I wonder why the marketing in "Medical Marijuana" shops has to be so explicit?

Wouldn't keeping a lower profile be more productive from a legal point?

Like for example little black and white stickers with names like "Sativa/Indica hybrid" or whatever, instead of glossy pictures with cannabis leaves with fancy names.

I doubt they need fancy marketing to sell the product anyway.

I hate it how they use the term "the case for and against" What is there to be against about in the first place? It's such bullshit. If marijuana was remotely dangerous, wouldn't Cheech and Chong be dead by now? Or went nuts and killed there familes? Why do we even have to have a debate? This is like trying to debate if the world is flat or round. Can you imagine? "The world is round, the case for and against the world is round theory".

Its unfortunate that they put they Camera Whore of a chick on who said she felt suicidal after smoking pot. She wanted her 15 min. She had suicidal thoughts before, and even after all this she claims she is for "medicinal use". Pot is not a remedy for eveything, but it sure does help with allot . Isn't the worst feeling possible one can have with MJ is uncontrollable munchies? I dont go reaching for the the Ice Cream spoon then suddenly change my mind and reach for the steak knife and cut my wrists. When was the last time after a hard day at work you got high on the way home the walked in the front door and slapped your first grader in the face because he got a B in his college level Algebra class. As happy as we all are to see this being discussed in the media Anderson Cooper is still Bias. We are not going to see a change until Babyboomers an Gen Xers are running the show. Our country is still run buy close minded hacks. May I remind you ....this still still the same group old people who's ears bleed when they hear "rock and roll"

Watched it last nite, and will watch or dvr every nite this week.
It is exposure like this that will help bring about change, and I have got people, local townspeople, that have known for years that I smoke pot, asking ME about medical uses for marijuana. I just guide them to the medical marijuana site where they can check to see if marijuana would or could help them with their afflictions, since Texas has no medical marijuana laws. The closest we have come is a bill allowing Doctors to prescribe marijuana for cancer patients and
such, without losing their license. And that hasn't made it past the medical board yet,but hope they are watching all the activity and getting a crash course in the medical uses for marijuana.
